20080231438Cargo Container Monitoring System - According to one embodiment, a cargo container monitoring system includes components located on a ship for collecting status information for containers. The components include data loggers, a gateway, an access point, and a controller. Each data logger is configured to receive first wireless signals from a plurality of tags. Each tag is associated with a particular container and the signals include status information for the associated container. The gateway is coupled to a data logger and configured to receive signals from the data logger including status information. The gateway is further configured to transmit second wireless signals, the second signals including the status information. The access point is configured to receive the second signals from the gateway. The controller is communicatively coupled to the access point and is configured to receive signals from the access point including the status information. The controller is further configured to store the status information.09-25-2008
20080231454Cargo Container Monitoring Device - According to one embodiment, a cargo container monitoring system includes components located on a cargo ship for collecting cargo container status information for a plurality of cargo containers. The components include at least one combination data logger and gateway device. The combination device includes a first antenna and a second antenna. The first antenna is configured to receive first wireless communications signals transmitted by a plurality of tags at a first frequency. Each tag is associated with a particular one of the cargo containers and the first wireless communications signals received from each tag include cargo container status information for the associated cargo container. The second antenna is configured to transmit second wireless communications signals to an access point at a second frequency. The second wireless communications signals include the cargo container status information received from the plurality of tags and the first frequency is different from the second frequency.09-25-2008

20080307519PEER-TO-PEER NETWORK OVER A VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK - The present invention provides a new network topology. More specifically, a peer-to-peer network is defined on a virtual private network. The peer-to-peer network comprises a set of specified users within a virtual private network that are allowed to communicate according to predetermined rules enforced by the peer-to-peer network itself. This affords secure communication between the specified users of the peer-to-peer network independent of the virtual private network.12-11-2008

20090242384Low Pressure Mixing System for Desalting Hydrocarbons - A method and system for reducing the salt content of a crude oil stream includes using a quill to disperse a water stream into the crude oil and then routing the mixed oil/water stream through a plurality of mixing stages. The water stream may include a wash water that has been preconditioned with recycled effluent water. Each mixing stage increases the homogeneity of the mixed oil/water stream. The first and third mixing stages are preferably lower pressure stages relative to the second mixing stage, which provides pressure effective for flowing the mixed oil/water stream through the third and fourth mixing stages. Upon exiting the fourth mixing stage, the mixed oil/water stream is electrostatically treated in a dual frequency separator vessel or a dual polarity separator vessel.10-01-2009
