20110239245PORTABLE AUDIENCE MEASUREMENT ARCHITECTURES AND METHODS FOR PORTABLE AUDIENCE MEASUREMENT - Portable audience measurement architectures and methods for portable audience measurement are disclosed. A disclosed system contains a plurality of portable measurement devices configured to collect audience measurement data from media devices, a plurality of data collection servers configured to collect audience measurement data from the plurality of portable measurement devices, and a central data processing server. A portable measurement device establishes a communication link with a data collection server in a peer-to-peer manner and transfers the collected audience measurement data to the data collection server. Because the portable measurement device is not dedicated to a particular local data collection server, the portable measurement device periodically or a periodically broadcasts a message attempting to find a data collection server with which to establish a communication link.09-29-2011

20100083299Methods and Apparatus for Determining Whether a Media Presentation Device is in an On State or an Off State - Methods and apparatus for determining whether a media presentation device is in an on state or an off state are disclosed. A disclosed example method comprises determining first and second characteristics of a signature associated with a signal representative of media content presented via a media presentation device, evaluating the first and second characteristics to determine first and second fuzzy contribution values representing, respectively, degrees with which the first and second characteristics correspond to the media presentation device being in at least one of an on state or an off state, determining a third fuzzy contribution value based on a number of the first and second contribution values indicating the media presentation device is in one of the on or off states, and combining the first, second and third fuzzy contribution values for use in determining whether the media presentation device is in the on state or the off state.04-01-2010

20100046082APPARATUS AND SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING A VIRTUAL DISPLAY FOR A VEHICLE - A display unit for mounting in a vehicle is provided. The display unit includes an image generator. The display unit further includes a semi-reflective member. The semi-reflective member is configured to move from a non-operational position to an operation position. The semi-reflective member is positioned to reflect light from the image generator in an operational position.02-25-2010
20110134535DISPLAY DEVICE, NOTABLY FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE - A display device for a motor vehicle includes a projection module for generating an image for projection in a normal direction of looking of a user long an optical path. The display device comprises a reflection element capable of being moved between a first rest position and a second display position. The reflection element in its display position is provided in the normal direction of looking of the user. When the reflection element moves between its first rest position and its second display position, it is subjected to rotary movement about a fixed axis of rotation.06-09-2011
20110141572DISPLAY DEVICE, NOTABLY FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE - The present invention relates to a display device, notably for a motor vehicle, comprising a projection module for generating an image for the purpose of a projection in the normal direction of looking of a user of the display device on an optical path, the display device comprising a reflection element, the reflection element being capable of being moved between a multitude of different display positions, the different display positions corresponding to different viewing positions of a user of the display device.06-16-2011

20120042725Method and Apparatus for Measuring Pedaling Dynamics of a Cyclist - The invention detects variation in the speed of the bicycle's drive chain using a sensor. Variations in chain speed are measured, with the resulting numbers displayed to be visible to the cyclist in real-time and/or saved for later downloading and viewing via computer. Metrics that can be calculated using variations in chain speed include: a smoothness index, which indicates how evenly the cyclist is applying force/power; chain speed variation to show the contribution of each leg to the overall force/power delivered; pedaling cadence; and a calculation of gear ratios. Some of these metrics can use inputs from additional sensors, such as a cadence sensor that is tripped by each revolution of the bicycle's crank arm, and wheel speed or GPS sensor for measuring the bicycle's speed.02-23-2012

20110203175MODULAR GARDENING SYSTEM AND METHOD - A system and method of modular gardening is disclosed which may include a planter, a planting medium such as peat, coconut husk (coir), etc., a planting template for determining the proper locations for planting seeds, and a planting guide which indicates locations on the planting template that should be used to maximize the amount of vegetables or other plants that can be grown in the planter. The planter may have a raised base with openings for water drainage. The modular planter may also include a channel to retain water which allows for proper hydration of the soil and decreases the frequency needed to water the plants. The modular gardening system may also include a drain pan for receiving the planter and a lid to protect plants grown in the planter from adverse environmental conditions. Additionally, a planting stick may be provided to ensure proper planting depth of seeds for germination.08-25-2011

20080267974Selection of Human TNFAlpha Specific Antibodies - The invention relates to antibodies which bind to tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα) and uses thereof, in particular in the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune diseases, e.g. rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Specific human monoclonal antibodies which inhibit TNFα-mediated signalling pathways, and variants, fragments, and derivatives thereof are provided. Also provided are specific human monoclonal antibodies which block the ability of TNFα to bind to its receptor, as well as fragments, variants and derivatives of such antibodies. The invention also includes polynucleotides encoding the above antibodies or fragments, variants or derivatives thereof, as well as vectors and host cells comprising such polynucleotides. The invention further includes methods of diagnosing and treating autoimmune diseases, e.g. rheumatoid arthritis (RA), using antibodies of the invention.10-30-2008

20090062236Programmable genotoxic agents and uses therefor - The compositions and methods disclosed herein provide heterobifunctional programmable genotoxic compounds that can be designed to kill selected cells present in a heterogenous cell population. The present compounds comprise a first agent that inflicts damage on cellular DNA, and a second agent that attracts a macromolecular cell component such as a protein, which in turn shields genomic lesions from repair. Unrepaired lesions therefore persist in the cellular genome and contribute to the death of selected cells. In contrast, lesions formed in nonselected cells, which lack the cell component, are unshielded and thus are repaired. As a result, compounds described herein are less toxic to nonselected cells. Compounds of this invention can be designed to cause the selective killing of transformed cells, viral-infected cells and the like.03-05-2009
