20090308659STEERING COMPONENT, STEERING ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF STEERING A DRILL BIT IN A BOREHOLE - This invention relates to a steering component, to a steering assembly, and to a method of steering a drill bit in a borehole. The steering component is adapted for connection to a drill string, the drill string carrying a drill bit and a motor for rotating the drill bit. The steering component comprises: a rotatable driveshaft adapted for connection between the drill bit and the motor; a drive mechanism; and an offsetting component; the drive mechanism providing a rotatable connection between the drill string and the offsetting component whereby the drill string can rotate relative to the offsetting component. The drive mechanism is adapted to drive the offsetting component to rotate in an opposed direction to the driveshaft, so as to counter the rotation of the offsetting component which is induced by friction within the componentry as the driveshaft rotates. The steering component and method are likely to have their greatest utility in steering a drill bit during drilling for oil and gas.12-17-2009

20110088976SPEED RESPONSIVE ENGAGEMENT DEVICE - A speed responsive engagement device comprises: a wheel arranged for rotation about a first axis and having a plurality of outwardly projecting spaced apart teeth with each pair of adjacent teeth being separated by a circumferential surface with a constant radius; a pawl arranged for pivotal movement about a second axis between a first unengaged position and a second engaged position in which the pawl engages one of said teeth and contacts a circumferential surface; and a resilient means arranged to urge said pawl towards the first position when the pawl is not in contact with a circumferential surface. When the wheel rotates in a first direction each tooth contacts the pawl, generating an oscillating movement of the pawl from the first position towards the second position with an amplitude dependent on the speed of the rotation. When the speed of rotation reaches a predetermined value the oscillating movement brings the pawl into the engaged position, preventing further rotation of the wheel in said first direction.04-21-2011

20100203919ARRANGEMENT OF RADIOFREQUENCY INTEGRATED CIRCUIT AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THEREOF - A master radiofrequency integrated circuit (RF IC) and a slave radiofrequency integrated circuit include a master radiofrequency module and a slave radiofrequency module, respectively. Both RF ICs include a radiofrequency side contact connectable to an antenna, for receiving radiofrequency signals, via the antenna, from a wireless communications network and a baseband side contact connected to the radiofrequency module and connectable to a contact of a baseband integrated circuit, for transmitting the baseband signals from the master radiofrequency module to the baseband integrated circuit. The RF module is connected to the radiofrequency side contact, for converting the radiofrequency signals into baseband signals. The master radiofrequency module includes a slave control unit for controlling the slave radiofrequency module. The master RF IC has a slave side contact connected to the slave control unit and to the slave RF IC, for transferring a control signal or data from and/or to slave radiofrequency module when the slave radiofrequency module is connected to the contact of the baseband integrated circuit. The slave RF IC includes a master side contact connected to a control interface of the slave RF module and connectable to a master radiofrequency module on another RF IC, for receiving the control signals from the master radiofrequency module.08-12-2010
20110012663CLOCK SIGNAL GENERATING ARRANGEMENT FOR A COMMUNICATION DEVICE - A clock signal generating arrangement for a communication device generates a system clock signal at an output for use as a timing reference. The clock signal generating arrangement comprises a reference clock generator for generating a reference clock signal, a main clock generator for generating a main clock signal having a greater accuracy than the reference clock signal, a clock adjust circuit coupled to the reference clock generator for generating a compensated reference clock signal to compensate for error in the reference clock signal and a clock signal selector coupled to the reference clock generator the main clock generator and the clock adjust circuit. The clock signal selector selectively provides to the output of the clock signal generating arrangement as the system clock signal the compensated reference clock signal when an error in the reference clock signal reaches a first predetermined threshold and until the error in the reference clock signal has been compensated and otherwise the reference clock signal when the communication device is operating in an idle mode or the main clock signal when the communication device is operating in an active mode.01-20-2011

20110086605IMAGE CALIBRATION AND CORRECTION FOR LOW-IF RECEIVERS - Embodiments of a system for calibrating the image rejection of a receiver include an image-rejection correction circuit that modifies the gain and phase of a first channel of a baseband image signal. The image-rejection correction circuit may include a summing circuit and first and second variable-gain elements. In one implementation, a filter receives a corrected first channel from the image-rejection correction circuit and an unmodified second channel of the image signal, while a controller analyzes power measured at the output of the filter, and adjusts the variable-gain elements to reduce the power of the image signal.04-14-2011
