FLUID HANDLING DEVICE, AN IMMERSION LITHOGRAPHIC APPARATUS AND A DEVICE MANUFACTURING METHOD - A fluid handling system for an immersion lithographic apparatus that has a fluid removal device to remove immersion liquid from an immersion space, and a droplet removal device to remove a droplet of immersion liquid, wherein: the droplet removal device is located further from an optical axis than the fluid removal device, and the droplet removal device comprises a porous member which faces, e.g., the substrate being exposed and/or the substrate table. | 10-14-2010
Immersion Lithographic Apparatus and a Device Manufacturing Method - An immersion lithographic apparatus has a pressure sensor configured to measure the pressure of immersion liquid in a space between the substrate and a projection system. A control system is responsive to a pressure signal generated by the pressure sensor and controls a positioner to exert a force on the substrate table to compensate for the force exerted on the substrate table by the immersion liquid. | 11-18-2010

METHOD FOR COPY PROTECTION FOR VIDEO SIGNAL WITH ADDED PULSES - Enhancements to a video anticopying process that causes an abnormally low amplitude video signal to be recorded on an illegal copy. In one version, positive going pulses are added to the video signal. The enhancements in one version introduce into the overscan portion of the television picture, just prior to the horizontal or vertical sync signals but in active video, a negative going waveform that appears to the television receiver or videotape recorder to be a sync signal, thereby causing an early horizontal or vertical retrace. One version provides (in the right overscan portion of the picture), a checker pattern of alternating gray and black areas which causes the TV set on which the illegal copy is played to horizontally retrace earlier than normal in selected lines with a consequential horizontal shift of the picture information on those lines. This substantially degrades picture viewability. In another version a gray pattern at the bottom overscan portion of the picture causes vertical picture instability. In another version selected horizontal sync signals are narrowed, causing irregular vertical retraces. Also provided is apparatus for removing or attenuating these enhancements from the video signal, to allow copying. | 01-28-2010

METHOD OF THERMAL TREATMENT OF A THERMALLY RESPONSIVE MATERIAL OF MEDICAL DEVICES - The present invention relates to a method of thermal treatment of thermally responsive material wherein areas in or on the material to be thermally treated are defined and thermal energy is inputted on or into the defined areas in order to change/influence the material characteristics. The present invention further relates to medical devices or parts thereof manufactured at least in part from thermally responsive material by a process comprising at least one step of thermal treatment of this thermally responsive material. | 12-24-2009
CATHETER HAVING A SOFT DISTAL TIP - The present invention relates to a catheter having a soft distal tip that can be manufactured at lower cost than catheters in the prior art. In one embodiment, the catheter is produced by coupling a soft sleeve to the distal end of a catheter tube. The sleeve may affixed to the catheter tube under temperature and pressure conditions that cause the proximal end of the sleeve to taper against the outer surface of the catheter tube, avoiding or minimizing discontinuities in the insertion profile of the catheter, and that also cause the inner wall of the sleeve to taper against the distal end of the catheter tube, avoiding or minimizing discontinuities in the lumen of the catheter. | 07-14-2011

METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR TREATING PROSTATE CANCER - A polypeptide comprising an androgen binding region, the androgen binding region capable of binding to an androgen at a sufficient affinity or avidity such that upon administration of the polypeptide to a mammalian subject the level of biologically available androgen is decreased. Specifically disclosed is an AR IgG1 Fc fusion protein, comprising the androgen binding domain of human androgen receptor and the Fc region of IgG. This fusion protein is used in the treatment of prostate cancer and testosterone flare. | 04-15-2010
USE OF ESTROGEN AND ANDROGEN BINDING PROTEINS IN METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR TREATING GYNAECOLOGICAL CANCERS - The present invention provides a polypeptide comprising an estrogen or androgen binding region, the binding region capable of binding to an estrogen or androgen at a sufficient affinity or avidity such that upon administration of the polypeptide to a mammalian subject the level of biologically available estrogen or androgen is decreased. The invention also provides for the treatment or prevention of cancers such as ovarian cancer, breast cancer and endometrial cancer using the polypeptides. | 11-18-2010

TREATMENT OF NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASES - The present invention relates to the use of selenate or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in methods and compositions for enhancing the activity of the protein phosphatase PP2A. Methods of reducing phosphorylation of tau protein, inhibiting activity of GSK3 and treating or preventing neurodegenerative diseases are also described. | 07-02-2009

Linkage - A linkage includes two gearboxes each having a driven shaft, and at least one linear actuator connected between the gearboxes. Actuation of the at least one linear actuator adjusts the relative position of the driven shafts for the two gearboxes with respect to each other. | 11-24-2011
Arrestor - A system having a rotary output, including a drive shaft, a pin coupled to the drive shaft and an output shaft coupled to the drive shaft. A guideway is associated with the output shaft. Rotation of the drive shaft results in rotation of the output shaft and the guideway and movement of the pin along a pin path. The system is prevented from providing a rotary output when the pin abuts against a sidewall of the guideway, but permitted to provide a rotary output when the portion of the guideway aligned with the pin path corresponds with the position of the pin. | 11-24-2011

Linear Actuator - A linear actuator includes a leadscrew and a drive rod threadingly engaged with the leadscrew to permit longitudinal movement of the drive rod along its axis as the leadscrew rotates. A sheath is provided around the drive rod. A gear column is arranged generally coaxially with the axis of the leadscrew, the gear column including a gear through which drive can be applied to rotate the gear column. The gear column is connected to the leadscrew such that rotation of the gear column causes rotation of the leadscrew with respect to the drive rod to cause the drive rod to extend and/or retract. | 11-10-2011
