NEGOTIATION OF CONTROL OVER A PTT CALL BETWEEN AN OMA PoC NETWORK AND A P25 NETWORK - Communication networks and methods are disclosed for negotiating control over a PTT call between an OMA PoC network and a P25 network. If an OMA PoC PTT server receives a request for the PTT call from a calling party, then the PTT server transmits a call initiation message for the PTT call to the P25 network offering control over the PTT call to a PTT server in the P25 network. The P25 PTT server processes the call initiation message to identify the offer for control, assumes control over the PTT call, and determines whether the calling or called party has the floor for initial transmission for the PTT call. The P25 PTT server then transmits a response message to the OMA PoC PTT server indicating which one of the calling or called party has the floor. The party granted the floor may then initiate voice communications for the PTT call. | 01-01-2009

RESOURCE TRACKING - Clients may subscribe to resources for the purpose of receiving notifications of changes in the resource (e.g., a file is added to a shared folder). Storing subscriptions within persistent storage provides data security in the event of a service failure, at the cost of high latency in accessing subscription data. An efficient method for tracking a resource is provided herein. A subscription service creates subscriptions and monitors resources for a client. Upon a subscribed resource change, a notification service stores a notification of the change into a queue associated with the client. Efficient resource tracking is achieved because notification and subscription data is stored in low latency soft memory. The notification service is configured to detect a failure in the notification service and/or subscription service. In the event a service fails, the client provides a recovery mechanism by resubscribing to resources the client is interested in. | 04-08-2010
COMMIT RATE MANAGEMENT WITH DECOUPLED COMMIT OPERATIONS - Consistency is managed among data operations by coalescing commit operations, adjusting a commit rate to optimize latency, and converging to fairness across servers. Write operations representing a change to data stored by one or more of a plurality of computing devices are received in succession by, for example, a cloud computing service. A state of a plurality of tracking objects is adjusted to indicate whether the change in data has been provided to the computing devices and whether the change in data has been acknowledged by the computing devices. Changes to the same data are coalesced such that only the most recent change is provided to the computing devices for storage. In some embodiments, the commit rate is adjustable such that the commit rate decreases quickly but increases slowly based on measured latencies. | 07-29-2010
OBJECT-BASED COMPUTER SYSTEM MANAGEMENT - A method, system, and architecture for managing computer systems is provided. Managed elements of an IT environment, such as, by way of example, hardware components, software applications, software updates, software distribution policies, configurations, settings, etc., may be expressed as MOs. Actions, such as, by way of example, detect, install/apply, remove, remediate, enumerate, etc., may be associated with the MOs. The management system manages the computer systems by deploying the appropriate MOs and their associated actions onto the computer systems, and performing the actions on the computer systems. | 04-28-2011
DISTRIBUTED SERVICES AUTHORIZATION MANAGEMENT - One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for providing resource authorization to users of a distributed memory store (e.g., a distributed web-based cloud service). A session ID that identifies a location of an authorization document in a distributed memory store is used to access the authorization document, which comprises a global section with a principal ID related to a user. The user can be authorized to utilize a resource (e.g., in a distributed cloud service) if a resource section is present for the principal ID in the authorization document, and has appropriate resource data for the resource. If the resource section is not present, it can be created in the authorization document, and identified by a resource identifier. Authorization data can be loaded into the newly created resource section, and the authorization document, with the global and resource sections, is saved to a local cache for the distributed memory store. | 12-08-2011

HIGH UNSAPONIFIABLES AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME - Materials with high levels of unsaponifiable matter, such as extracts from plants, produce hydrolysates with unique properties. Properties that are sought in traditional saponification of natural oils are a result of low levels of unsaponifiables. These properties include high levels of aqueous surfactant activity, water-solubility or ready water-dispersability, activity as foaming agents, and the like. An objective of traditional saponification processes is to increase the water-solubility and surfactant activity of naturally occurring materials. It has been found that the application of a hydrolysis process to materials, particularly materials with a high level of unsaponifiables (e.g., at least 6% by total weight of the material), produces a product with properties significantly different from those products resulting from the conventional saponification of materials with less than 6% by weight of unsaponifiables. The resulting hydrolysates from the practice of the present invention are substantive, resisting both physical and aqueous-based removal from skin and hair, exhibit a very unique surfactant property, and are not foaming agents with water. Hydrolysates according to the present invention may thus be used to enhance the performance of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. These hydrolysates can be are bioactive agents and alternative natural carrying agents for topical application of materials, particularly for application of materials to the skin or hair of subjects, and provide a substantive support for the materials carried. | 12-01-2011

MULTI-LEVEL EVENT COMPUTING MODEL - High-order events may be generated and consumed in a cascading computing model. Low level information, such as changes in physical sensor readings, may be communicated to an application in the form of event messages that are generated by an operating system service. In one example, models that implement high level abstractions may also use events to communicate facts that have been inferred from lower level facts. For example, a program might generate events indicating that a particular type of motion (e.g., walking) has started or stopped, where the program infers the walking motion from sensor data about acceleration and position. Another program could consume those events and other data to draw higher level conclusions, such as “Joe is walking to a meeting”. Thus, events may be used in a cascading model in which events are generated and consumed at increasingly high levels of abstraction. | 03-24-2011
