20090318977WEDGED PROFILE PLATE - A bone plate used in conjunction with various procedures to correct certain deformities, such as a Latarjet procedure. The bone plate is provided with a plurality of spikes having a truncated, pyramidal shape with a plurality of sides or faces that converge to a tip line. The height of each spike is of about 2.5 to about 3 mm. The design of the spikes allows the plate to stay in the right position by simply pressing the plate with the fingers on the bone or using a specific instrument (before the fixation holes are drilled and the fixation devices such as screws are secured). The bone plate may be provided with side, lateral faces that have a non-uniform width (i.e., a wedged profile) to allow for orthograde placement of the fixation device, even in the case of angled bone surfaces.12-24-2009

20110169686TARGET DETECTION IN A SAR-IMAGED SEA AREA - Disclosed herein is a method of detecting a target in a sea area based on a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image thereof. The Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image is made up of pixels, each having a respective magnitude. The method comprises computing a first reference quantity which characterizes a Poisson distribution assumed for the magnitudes that the pixels in the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image would have if the sea area were free of targets. The method further comprises selecting pixels in the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image, computing a real quantity which characterizes a real statistical distribution of the magnitudes of the selected pixels, and detecting a target in the sea area based on the computed first reference and real quantities. The selected pixels are in a one and the same sub-image of the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image, and detecting comprises detecting a target in a sea subarea of the sea area, the sea subarea being represented by the sub-image.07-14-2011

20100063202Methods of Making Siloxy-Amine Functionalized Rubbery Polymers and Uses Thereof in Rubber Compositions for Tires - The invention includes a siloxy-amine functionalized rubbery polymer, which exhibits good reinforcing characteristics and filler dispersing effect, a method for making, and a rubber composition including the same. In one embodiment, a process for manufacturing includes polymerizing a conjugated diene monomer using an organolithium compound as an initiator in a hydrocarbon solvent. Next, an active terminal end of the polymer is reacted with a functionalized terminating agent represented by:03-11-2010
