20110006470MAIL DOUBLES DETECTION AND CORRECTION SYSTEM - A mail doubles detection and correction system for a mail processing system with a feeder includes a mail support configured to support at least two mail pieces in a detection space downstream of the feeder, a pair of vacuum belt assemblies disposed on opposite sides of the detection space, and one or more sensors positioned about the detection space to detect a position of one or more mail pieces in the detection space. Each vacuum belt assembly includes a vacuum port facing the detection space and a perforated belt movable across the vacuum port in a mail transport direction. The system detects a mail double when the sensors indicate that more than one mail piece is disposed in the detection space and corrects the situation by moving one of the belts and holding the other belt stationary to advance only one of the mail pieces, and subsequently moving both of the belts to advance the remaining mail piece. The system detects a normal feed when the sensors indicate only one mail piece in the detection space, in which case both of the belts are moved to advance the mail piece. The system can also be configured to automatically adjust a width of the detection space to accommodate mail pieces having a range of widths.01-13-2011

20090251896Electric Lamp Adapter and Reflector - A means of detachably coupling an adapter about the substantially male portion of a lamp base, and between a lamp body and a lamp socket body is set forth. The adapter is disc-like with a hole through which the male portion of a lamp base such as, but not limited to an Edison, GU24, or G24d type lamp base, is inserted into a related socket body. The hole in the adapter member is predetermined to be substantially congruent with the outer surface of the substantially male portion of the lamp base at a point adjacent to its junction with the lamp body. This allows the adapter member to substantially contact the outer surface of the substantially male portion of the lamp base while also being sandwiched between the top surface of the lamp body and the bottom surface of the socket body when the substantially male portion of the lamp base is fully inserted into the socket body. One of several modifications shows various reflectors being attached to the adapter. Another modification shows various lens caps detachably coupled to the reflector.10-08-2009

20100284829GAS TOLERANT SUBSEA PUMP - A combined canned motor-pump operates directly in the process fluid without the need for shaft seals or buffer or lubricating fluids. The pump incorporates an integral gas-separating system that includes gas separating hydraulics and a flow path that returns the gas to the main gas/oil separator. The gas-separating system includes a pump inlet for accepting incoming multiphase flow, at least one blade rotatable about the axis of rotation, an open annulus region for separating gas from liquid in the multiphase flow, at least one radial hole in the shaft for directing separated gas to the axial hole, and a pump outlet for discharging liquid from the pump.11-11-2010

20090243244Suspension system with axle adjustment - A suspension system including a vehicle chassis and an axle assembly. The axle assembly includes at least one axle positionable substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. Two trailing arms are each supported relative to the vehicle chassis and pivotally coupled with the axle assembly. The suspension system also includes at least one pivotal link. A first pivotal connection pivotally secures the pivotal link relative to the chassis and defines a first pivot axis and a second pivotal connection couples the pivotal link to a trailing arm and defines a second pivot axis. An adjustment mechanism is engaged with the pivotal link wherein movement of the adjustment mechanism repositions the pivotal link about the first pivot axis. Pivotal movement of the pivotal link about the first pivot axis longitudinally repositions the second pivot axis and thereby adjusts an angular position of the axle relative to the longitudinal axis.10-01-2009
20090243246Suspension system with enhanced stability - A suspension system including a vehicle chassis, first and second axles and first and second longitudinal assemblies. The longitudinal assemblies include leaf springs secured relative to both of the axles. Air springs are positioned between the longitudinal assemblies and the vehicle chassis. First and second lift limiting members limit the vertical separation between the first and second longitudinal assemblies and the vehicle chassis within a respective limited range having a predetermined maximum limit. The suspension system also includes first and second spring members coupled with the first and second longitudinal assemblies. The spring members exert a biasing force respectively urging the longitudinal assemblies away from the vehicle chassis for only a part of the limited ranges of vertical separation between the longitudinal members and the vehicle chassis.10-01-2009
20090243247SUSPENSION SYSTEM STRUCTURE AND METHOD OF ASSEMBLY - A sliding suspension system for a trailer chassis. The suspension includes two longitudinally extending slide rails and an axle assembly having two axles. At least one suspension spring member dampens relative movement between the axle assembly and the trailer chassis. At least one laterally extending cross beam is secured to the longitudinally extending rails. The suspension system also includes four bracing members and at least one central connecting member. Two of the bracing members are secured to and extend between one of the rails and the central connecting member while the other two bracing members are secured to and extend between the other rail and the central connecting member. The bracing members are arranged in an X-shaped configuration between the two rails. In some embodiments, the bracing members have an S-shaped cross section. A method of assembling a sliding suspension system for a trailer chassis is also disclosed.10-01-2009
20100276901Independent suspension and steering assembly - An independent suspension and steering system that can be used with a large truck. The suspension system includes a transversely extending leaf spring assembly. The midpoint of the leaf spring assembly is secured at the centerline of the vehicle while the two opposing ends of the leaf spring assembly are shackled to vertically moveable carriers on which the steering knuckles are pivotally mounted. The steering unit includes a transversely extending relay rod which is attached to tie rods at its opposite ends. The tie rods are, in turn, attached to the steering knuckles. In some embodiments, at least one steering gear is coupled with the relay rod via a connecting rod that is secured at one end to the rotating output shaft of the steering gear and secured at its other end to the relay rod.11-04-2010

20100206579FAIL AS IS MECHANISM AND METHOD - A technique enables failsafe control over actuators used to actuate downhole tools. The technique may utilize a well system having a tool with an adjustable member. An actuation mechanism serves as a fail-as-is mechanism and works in cooperation with the adjustable member. The actuation member is shiftable upon receiving a predetermined input; however the actuation member does not move the adjustable member upon each shift. Once the actuation member has been shifted the requisite number of times to move the adjustable member to another position, at least one subsequent shift of the actuation member is not able to cause movement of the adjustable member. The result is a fail-as-is technique for ensuring the tool is not inadvertently actuated to another operational position.08-19-2010
