20100180116INTRUSION-TOLERANT GROUP MANAGEMENT FOR MOBILE AD-HOC NETWORKS - An inventive system and method for intrusion-tolerant group management for a network is presented. The method comprises a client broadcasting a message request to controllers and validating the rekey messages received from the controllers, and controllers validating the client's broadcast message request and broadcasting proposals, collecting proposals, constructing threshold-signed proofs, updating the view umber, performing the client's message request, generating the rekey based on the valid proposals and transmitting the rekey to the client. Simultaneously, controllers send reconciliation messages to all controllers, based on which the membership state is updated. The client updates a shared key when a predetermined number of valid rekey messages are received. The controllers can communicate via a byzantine fault-tolerant agreement. The client can use its public key to decrypt the rekey and perform validation. The client's message request can be a join or a leave.07-15-2010

20080196841WATER-BASED PRECIPITATION OF POLYMER SOLUTIONS - A solid polymer is recovered from a solution by the addition of a water-based solution containing a surfactant. The solutions are mixed and heated, so that the organic solvent containing the polymer is driven off, and the solid polymer can be recovered. The solid polymer is generally recovered in the form of small particles, which can be easily moved, as part of a slurry, and then dried. The process produces no hazardous waste. The by-products of the process can be re-used or discarded through ordinary channels.08-21-2008
20100132537AUTOMATIC LACER FOR BUNDLES OF POLYMERIC FIBER - An automatic lacer wraps bundles of polymeric fibers with thread, before the bundles are woven into a fabric mat and placed in a housing to form a gas-separation membrane module. A fiber bundle passes through a spool which is previously wound with thread on its outer surface. The thread is attached to the fiber bundle, so that when the bundle is moved through the spool, the thread is pulled from the spool, and automatically becomes wound around the bundle. Threads from two or more spools may be wrapped around the fiber bundle simultaneously. Lacing of the fiber bundles reduces the amount of tangling in the loom feeder, and improves the quality of modules made from the fiber bundles.06-03-2010

20110069749NONLINEAR EQUALIZER TO CORRECT FOR MEMORY EFFECTS OF A TRANSMITTER - Techniques for correcting for memory effects of a transmitter are described. In an exemplary design, a receiver obtains input samples including a desired signal transmitted by a transmitter having memory effects. The receiver performs nonlinear equalization on the input samples to obtain first equalized samples, performs linear equalization on the input samples to obtain second equalized samples, and determines output samples based on the first and second equalized samples. The nonlinear equalization corrects for the memory effects and nonlinearities of the transmitter and possibly nonlinearities and memory effects of the receiver. The receiver may jointly determine coefficients for both linear and nonlinear equalization based on an adaptive algorithm. The receiver processes (e.g., demodulates and decodes) the output samples to recover data sent in the desired signal by the transmitter.03-24-2011
