20100303256NOISE CANCELLATION SYSTEM WITH SIGNAL-TO-NOISE RATIO DEPENDENT GAIN - There is provided a noise cancellation system, comprising: a voice input, for receiving a wanted signal; a noise input for receiving a detected signal representative of ambient noise; a signal processor, for generating a noise cancellation signal for addition to the wanted signal, the signal processor having an adjustable gain; and control circuitry, for determining a relationship between levels of the wanted signal and the detected signal, and for controlling the adjustable gain on the basis of the determined relationship.12-02-2010
20100310086NOISE CANCELLATION SYSTEM WITH LOWER RATE EMULATION - There is provided a noise cancellation system, comprising: an input for a digital signal, the digital signal having a first sample rate; a digital filter, connected to the input to receive the digital signal; a decimator, connected to the input to receive the digital signal and to generate a decimated signal at a second sample rate lower than the first sample rate; and a processor. The processor comprises: an emulation of the digital filter, connected to receive the decimated signal and to generate an emulated filter output; and a control circuit, for generating a control signal on the basis of the emulated filter output. The control signal is applied to the digital filter to control a filter characteristic thereof.12-09-2010
20100322432FREQUENCY CONTROL BASED ON DEVICE PROPERTIES - There is provided a method of controlling a noise cancellation system, the noise cancellation system being for use in a device comprising a speaker for receiving a wanted signal and generating a sound signal therefrom, and the noise cancellation system comprising: a digital filter, for generating a noise cancellation signal from an input signal representative of ambient noise; and an output for applying the noise cancellation signal to the speaker in addition to the wanted signal to generate a sound signal from which the ambient noise has been at least partially cancelled. The method comprises: determining a resonant frequency of the speaker; based on the determined resonant frequency, selecting a set of filter coefficients; and applying the selected set of filter coefficients to the digital filter.12-23-2010

20090046867Digtal Circuit Arrangements for Ambient Noise-Reduction - The invention provides a digital circuit arrangement for an ambient noise-reduction system affording a higher degree of noise reduction than has hitherto been possible, through the use of a low latency signal processing chain consisting of analogue-to-digital conversion, digital processing and digital-to-analogue conversion. The arrangement converts the analogue signals into N-bit digital signals at sample rate f02-19-2009
20100061564AMBIENT NOISE REDUCTION SYSTEM - An adaptive, feed-forward, ambient noise-reduction system includes a reference microphone for generating first electrical signals representing incoming ambient noise, and a connection path including a circuit for inverting these signals and applying them to a loudspeaker directed into the ear of a user. The system also includes an error microphone for generating second electrical signals representative of sound (including that generated by the loudspeaker in response to the inverted first electrical signals) approaching the user's ear. An adaptive electronic filter is provided in the connection path, together with a controller for automatically adjusting one or more characteristics of the filter in response to the first and second electrical signals. The system is configured to constrain the operation of the adaptive filter such that it always conforms to one of a predetermined family of filter responses, thereby restricting the filter to operation within a predetermined and limited set of amplitude and phase characteristics.03-11-2010

20100306297FILTER - An infinite impulse response (IIR) filter is provided for receiving an input signal and outputting a filtered signal. The filter comprises feedback circuitry for feeding back said filtered signal, the feedback circuitry comprising a first delay element for delaying said filtered signal; and a sub-unit, for receiving said delayed filtered signal, for outputting a summed signal which is the difference between said delayed filtered signal and a further-delayed filtered signal, and for outputting a multiplied signal which is an inverted further-delayed filtered signal multiplied by a first filter coefficient. At least said input signal, said delayed filtered signal, said multiplied signal, and said summed signal are employed to generate said filtered signal.12-02-2010

20090029681ELECTRONIC INFORMATION DEVICE WITH EVENT NOTIFICATION PROFILE - A mobile electronic device is programmed so that when the device is running a an application and an event occurs that the device needs to notify the user about, then the device alters the visual and/or sonic behaviour of the application according to, a pre-defined event notification profile. The user can select a desired event notification profile from a menu of available profiles stored in the device. For example, the event notification profile could be graphics and/or audio in the application gently fading to an alternative state using a pre-defined transition effect.01-29-2009

20100001405INTEGRATED CIRCUIT STRUCTURE - An integrated circuit and corresponding method of manufacture. The integrated circuit has a die comprising: an outer strengthening ring around a periphery of the die, the outer ring having one or more gaps; and an inner strengthening ring within the outer ring and around interior circuitry of the die, the inner ring having one or more gaps offset from the gaps of the outer ring. One or more conducting members are electrically isolated from said rings and electrically connected to the interior circuitry, each member passing through a gap of the inner ring and through a gap of the outer ring.01-07-2010
