20110011108Microprocessor-Controlled Beverage Dispenser - A microprocessor-controlled beverage dispenser is disclosed, which provides a cold plate having disposed therein beverage lines and refrigerant lines. The refrigerant lines may be connected to a cooling or refrigeration system, including a heat exchanger. The beverage lines may be connected to a beverage supply for dispensing a desired beverage. Valves and pressure sensors in the refrigerant line are engaged with a microprocessor. If the temperature falls below a desired value, then the cooling system is shut off. This permits the microprocessor to closely control the temperature of the beverage being dispensed.01-20-2011
20110289947Temperature-controlled beverage dispenser - A temperature-controlled beverage dispenser is disclosed, which provides a cold plate having disposed therein beverage lines and refrigerant lines. The refrigerant lines may be connected to a cooling system, such as a heat exchanger, which is configured to remove heat from the cold plate. The beverage lines may be connected to a beverage supply for dispensing a desired beverage. Valves and a pressure sensor in the refrigerant line are connected to a microprocessor. At regular intervals, the microprocessor closes the valves, waits a short time, and then takes a pressure reading, which corresponds to a temperature. If the temperature falls below a desired value, then the cooling system is shut off. This permits the microprocessor to closely control the temperature of the beverage being dispensed.12-01-2011

20090069276Treatment, prevention and amelioration of pulmonary disorders associated with chemotherapy or radiotherapy with active vitamin D compounds or mimics thereof - The present invention relates to a method for preventing, treating or ameliorating pulmonary disorders in a patient receiving a chemotherapeutic or radiotherapeutic agent or treatment comprising administering to the patient a pharmaceutical composition comprising an effective amount of active vitamin D compound or a mimic thereof. According to the invention, the active vitamin D compound, or the mimic thereof, may be administered by HDPA so that high doses of the active vitamin D compound can be administered to an animal without inducing severe symptomatic hypercalcemia.03-12-2009
20090163453Prevention and Treatment of Gastrointestinal and Bladder Disorders Associated with Chemotherapy or Radiation Therapy Using Active Vitamin D Compounds - The present invention relates to a method for preventing, treating, or ameliorating gastrointestinal and bladder disorders in a patient receiving a chemotherapy or radiation therapy comprising administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of active vitamin D compound or a mimic thereof. According to the invention, the active vitamin D compound or a mimic thereof may be administered by high dose pulse administration so that high doses of the active vitamin D compound or a mimic thereof can be administered to an animal without inducing severe symptomatic hypercalcemia.06-25-2009
20090208453High pressure treatment of aggregated interferons - High pressure to treat aggregated interferons, particularly recombinant human interferon-β, to reduce the aggregate content of interferon material. Highly pure, soluble monomeric recombinant interferon-β is prepared in representative embodiments. Multiple strategies may be used in combination that make nonglycosylated IFN-β more amenable to high pressure treatment. It has been found that refolding yields of high pressure treatment can be significantly improved by use of a combination of strategies, including, or example a pre-treatment of the IFN-β that involves solubilizing and then precipitating the protein. This pre-treatment is particularly effective with respect to recombinant IFN-β inclusion bodies recovered from host cells such as 08-20-2009
20100158899PROTEIN FORMULATION - A stable lyophilized protein formulation is described which can be reconstituted with a suitable diluent to generate a high protein concentration reconstituted formulation which is suitable for subcutaneous administration. For example, anti-IgE and anti-HER2 antibody formulations have been prepared by lyophilizing these antibodies in the presence of a lyoprotectant. The lyophilized mixture thus formed is reconstituted to a high protein concentration without apparent loss of stability of the protein.06-24-2010
20100239554EXTENDED RECOMBINANT POLYPEPTIDES AND COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING SAME - The present invention relates to compositions comprising biologically active proteins linked to extended recombinant polypeptide (XTEN), isolated nucleic acids encoding the compositions and vectors and host cells containing the same, and methods of using such compositions in treatment of glucose-related diseases, metabolic diseases, coagulation disorders, and growth hormone-related disorders and conditions.09-23-2010
20100261888Recombinant Production of Heparin Binding Proteins - A process for recovering and purifying refolded heparin binding proteins produced in heterologous host cells includes the step of incubation of the solubilized protein with a polyanionic species such as dextran sulfate.10-14-2010
20100330184INJECTION VEHICLE FOR POLYMER-BASED FORMULATIONS - The invention provides injection vehicles suitable for administering particulate suspensions, such as polymer-based formulations, as well as associated pharmaceutical formulations, articles of manufacture, and kits. Other aspects of the invention included methods for producing and administering pharmaceutical formulations. The injection vehicles of the invention are superior to conventional injection vehicles in that they include a pseudoplastic composition that improves injectability, which facilitates delivery of the desired dose. The injection vehicles of the invention also allow the use of smaller-bore needles than are usually necessary to inject polymer-based formulations, reducing the pain associated with injection of such formulations.12-30-2010
20110152190ERODIBLE POLYMERS FOR INJECTION - A composition for administration of a beneficial agent, contains a solvent mixture including a hydrophobic solvent and a hydrophilic solvent; a bioerodible polymer; and a beneficial agent. The polymer and the beneficial agent are dissolved. The composition has a low viscosity, allowing for easy injection through standard hypodermic needles.06-23-2011
20110236383Protein Formulation - A stable lyophilized protein formulation is described which can be reconstituted with a suitable diluent to generate a high protein concentration reconstituted formulation which is suitable for subcutaneous administration. For example, anti-IgE and anti-HER2 antibody formulations have been prepared by lyophilizing these antibodies in the presence of a lyoprotectant. The lyophilized mixture thus formed is reconstituted to a high protein concentration without apparent loss of stability of the protein.09-29-2011
20110312881BIFUNCTIONAL POLYPEPTIDE COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR TREATMENT OF METABOLIC AND CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES - The present invention relates to compositions comprising combinations of biologically active proteins linked to extended recombinant polymer, methods of production of the compositions and their use in treatment of metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, disorders and conditions.12-22-2011

20080245811Merchandise dispensing apparatus providing theft deterrence - A box structure has a plurality of walls positioned and configured to prevent access to an interior space housing merchandise in a secure manner. A first movable wall permits manual access to a frontal portion of the interior space while at the same time moving a barrier strip to prevent manual access to other than said frontal portion of the interior space. A roll-out shelf mounts merchandise supporting modules with pushers to move merchandise toward the front of the structure where ejection mechanisms in each of the modules are able to direct selected items to the front of the structure where they can be accessed by consumers. The ejection process creates a characteristic noise to alert store personnel that products are being dispensed.10-09-2008
20090145918Merchandise dispenser with coil actuation - A theft-deterring merchandise dispensing apparatus has a chassis configured to provide limited access to an interior space housing merchandise in a secure manner. A knob is secured to a front panel of the chassis. The knob is secured to one end of an elongate wire coil, the knob and coil rotational about a common axis. An elongate cantilevered rod is mounted on a rear panel of the chassis and extensive therefrom within the coil, the rod terminating at a free end in proximity to the front panel. Units of merchandise are slidingly secured on the rod and positioned between windings of the coil so that rotation of the coil by the knob moves the packages along the rod to exit proximate the front panel. A noise-maker creates a noise when the knob is rotated to alert store personnel that products are being dispensed.06-11-2009
