| 20110093840 | PATCHES FOR BATTERY-INTERFACING DEVICES AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS - Patches for battery-interfacing devices and associated systems and methods are disclosed. A patch device in accordance with one embodiment includes a storage medium having a patch, the patch including information that is not specific to only the patch device. The patch device can further include a data terminal coupled to the storage medium and coupleable to a corresponding data terminal of a battery port of a host device. The patch is transmissible away from the storage medium via the data terminal. A method in accordance with a particular embodiment includes powering a host device by connecting a battery pack to the host device via a power terminal and a data terminal of the battery pack and corresponding power terminal and data terminal of the host device. Information is conveyed to the host device via the data terminal of the battery pack that is specific to just the battery pack. The battery pack is then removed from the host device and a patch device is connected to the host device via a data terminal of the patch device and the corresponding data terminal of the host device. The method further includes transmitting a patch from a storage medium of the patch device to the host device via the data terminal of the patch device and the data terminal of the host device, with the patch including information that is not specific to just the patch device. | 04-21-2011 |

| 20080318565 | Method and Apparatus for Assisting a Radio Communication Transfer in a Cellular Radio Communication System - The invention proposes a method for allowing radio communication transitions between packet and circuit switched modes in a cellular radio communication system comprising a core network, a first radio access network supporting a first mode among packet and circuit switched modes and a second radio access network supporting a second mode among packet and circuit switched modes. The first and second radio access networks include base stations covering respective cells, the base stations being capable of communications with mobile stations, an overlap existing between the cells of the first and second radio access networks, the method comprising the step of detecting and conditionally informing a mobile station, when the mobile station is in communication with a base station of the first radio access network covering a cell overlapping with another cell covered by another base station of the second radio access network. | 12-25-2008 |

| 20080213180 | CA IX-Specific Inhibitors - Therapeutic methods for inhibiting the growth of preneoplastic/neoplastic vertebrate cells that abnormally express MN protein are disclosed. Screening assays are provided for identifying compounds, preferably organic compounds, preferably aromatic and heterocylic sulfonamides, which inhibit the enzymatic activity of MN/CA IX and that are useful for treating patients with preneoplastic/neoplastic disease. Further, the CA IX-specific inhibitors when labeled or linked to an appropriate visualizing means can also be used diagnostically/prognostically for preneoplastic/neoplastic disease, and for imaging use, for example, to detect hypoxic precancerous cells, tumors and/or metastases, by selectively binding to activated CA IX, preferably CA IX activated under hypoxic conditions, and not to inactive CA IX. Such detection of hypoxic conditions can be helpful in determining effective treatment options, and in predicting treatment outcome and the prognosis of disease development. Still further, the CA IX-specific inhibitors can be used therapeutically to selectively target hypoxic cells expressing activated CA IX. The CA IX-specific inhibitors can be labelled or conjugated to radioisotopes for radiotherapy of hypoxic cells. Alternatively, the CA IX-specific inhibitors can be used for gene therapy coupled to vectors for targeted delivery to hypoxic preneoplastic/neoplastic cells expressing activated CA IX on their surfaces. | 09-04-2008 |
