20110190712 | SACRIFICIAL CATHETER - A sacrificial catheter assembly and method of use for placing a functional catheter within the body of a patient, such as into the patient's vasculature, is disclosed. In one embodiment, the sacrificial catheter assembly comprises a sacrificial catheter including an elongate body that defines a longitudinally extending lumen. A stylet is removably received within the lumen of the sacrificial catheter such that the catheter and stylet can be advanced together to a target destination within the body of the patient. The sacrificial catheter is configured so as to then be proximally slid over the stylet to remove the sacrificial catheter from the body while the stylet remains in place at the target destination. A functional catheter can then be distally slid over the stylet to place the functional catheter at the target destination. The stylet can then be removed from the body of the patient. | 08-04-2011 |
20120108950 | BIOIMPEDANCE-ASSISTED PLACEMENT OF A MEDICAL DEVICE - A system and method for guiding a catheter or other medical device to a desired target destination within the vasculature of a patient via bioimpedance measurements is disclosed. The target destination in one embodiment includes placement of the catheter such that a distal tip thereof is disposed proximate the heart, e.g., the junction of the right atrium and superior vena cava. In one embodiment the method for guiding the catheter comprises introducing the catheter into a vessel of the patient, the catheter defining a lumen through which fluids can be infused into the vasculature of the patient. The catheter is advanced toward a target destination within the vasculature. A first impedance value based on intravascular detection of at least one electrical property related to a first tissue surface of the vessel is calculated to enable determination of the proximity of a distal end of the catheter to the target destination. | 05-03-2012 |

20120141309 | PUMP WITH SIDE INLET VALVE FOR IMPROVED FUNCTIONING IN AN INVERTED CONTAINER - A pump for use in an inverted dispenser is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the liquid pump includes a fluid chamber that has a top portion when in the inverted position and at least one side wall located below the top portion. A liquid intake port extends through the at least one side wall and allows fluid to flow into the fluid chamber. The pump also includes a check valve to prevent fluid from flowing out of the fluid chamber through the fluid intake port that is located in the at least one side wall. Actuation of the liquid pump in a first direction causes fluid to enter the fluid chamber through the fluid intake port and actuation of the liquid pump in a second direction causes liquid to exit the fluid chamber trough the fluid chamber outlet and out of a dispensing outlet. In one embodiment, the check valve is an elastomeric valve. The elastomeric valve may include a top portion to seal of an inlet opening in the top of an existing pump to convert the pump into a pump having an inlet opening below the top of the pump. In another embodiment, the fluid piston in the liquid pump is the check valve that seals off the intake opening from the fluid chamber when the fluid piston is moved past the inlet opening. | 06-07-2012 |
20120228326 | UTILITY PANEL FOR A DISPENSER - A utility panel for a dispenser that is mounted to a support structure by a backplate includes opposed lateral legs that extend from a main section to form a receiving channel therebetween. The main section is configured to display any desired physical indicia, such as advertising messages, for viewing by the user of the dispenser, while the lateral sections include retention tabs that are received within guide channels formed between the backplate and the support structure. As the utility panel is attached to the dispenser, the blackplate is received within the receiving channel of the utility panel until the retention tabs are snap-fit into corresponding lock channels provided by the backplate of the dispenser. As such, the utility panel is easily retrofit to a previously-installed dispenser without the use of tools. | 09-13-2012 |
20140367420 | PULL PUMPS, REFILL UNITS AND DISPENSERS FOR PULL PUMPS - Dispensers, refill units and pumps are disclosed herein. An exemplary refill unit for dispensers includes a container with a cap secured thereto. A piston shaft having a piston is located through an aperture in the cap. A pump chamber is located within the neck of the container. The piston is movable at least partially within the pump chamber. When the piston is located in the neck of the container, the piston creates a seal with the neck. The piston is movable within the container between a first position creating a seal with the neck of the container and a second position wherein the seal with the container is broken to allow liquid to flow into the pump chamber. The pump chamber includes an outlet. Movement of the piston in a first direction compresses the pump chamber and movement of the piston in a second direction expands the pump chamber. | 12-18-2014 |
