20090060182Apparatus and method for enhancing the protection of media content - An aspect of the current invention involves an apparatus and method for protecting media content from being read and copied by an unauthorized party. In one embodiment of the invention, this is accomplished by storing keys for decrypting encrypted media content on a secure memory device located in proximity to a computer processor. A secure memory device located in proximity to a computer processor allows for decryption keys to be sent to a user of the computer processor in advance of the user receiving an encrypted media content that will be decrypted with the decryption keys. With the secure memory device, the decryption keys can be stored indefinitely without an unauthorized party gaining access to them. Another embodiment of the invention allows for multiple media content providers to store their own decryption keys for their own encrypted media content simultaneously on a secure memory device located with a user's personal computer. A further embodiment of the invention involves using a secure memory device located with a means for displaying media content—such as a monitor or speaker—to allow for secure transfer of decrypted, decompressed media content from a computer processor used to play media content, a stand-alone media content player, or a set-top box media content player to a media content display03-05-2009
20090075618Multi-antenna/multi-receiver array diversity system - The present invention is a system for increasing Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) in a wireless communication system comprising a plurality of antennas each antenna providing a signal, a device for selecting a subset of signals provided by the plurality of antennas, a maximum ratio combiner for summing the selected subset of signals provided by the plurality of antennas, and a decision device for measuring the selected subset of signals against a predefined threshold. The device for selecting the subset of signals is coupled to the plurality of antennas. The maximum ratio combiner is coupled to the selected subset of signals and the decision device for measuring the selected subset of signals against a predefined threshold. The decision device is coupled to the selecting device such that one selected signal of the selected subset of signals is replaced by an unused signal provided by the plurality of antennas.03-19-2009
20100067407Methods and Systems for Provisioning Network Services - Certain exemplary embodiments provide a method, comprising: automatically detecting at an agent an installation of a communications device to a local network coupled to the agent; automatically offering via the communications device a plurality of user-selectable service options relating to a service provider's network and relating to at least one capability of the communications device, the at least one capability detected by the agent; in response to a selection of at least one service option from the plurality of service options, providing via the agent a user connection address.03-18-2010
20100098041Intra-Premises Wireless Broadband Service Using Lumped and Distributed Wireless Radiation From Cable Source Input - A premises, connected to receive broadband service(s) and also connected to a cable system, is provided with a broadband interface which connects to in-premises cabling which is coupled to consumer receivers such as a television sets, PDAs, laptops. Connected to the broadband interface is an adjunct device which channels broadband, data and voice signals supplied to an in-premises wireless system as distinguished from the signals supplied to the cable connected consumer receivers. The adjunct device formats the broadband and voice signals or any broadband service into packet format suitable for signal radiation and couples them to the in-premises coax cabling, via a diplexer, at a first selected location. At a second cable location a second diplexer, connected to the cable, separates the broadband, data and voice signals and couples them to a signal radiation device (i.e., an RF antenna or leaky coaxial cable) which radiates the signal to the immediate surrounding location. Various devices, near to the second cable location for specific services, receive the wireless signals (i.e., broadband, data and voice) from the radiating antenna.04-22-2010
20100125902SEAMLESS DATA NETWORKING - A roaming client in communication with an enterprise site through a virtual private network (VPN) gateway maintains an address for a virtual network interface upon becoming a resident client at the enterprise site. A physical interface for the resident includes two valid addresses. Seamless data networking is achieved while promoting routing efficiency by reducing the amount of local traffic addressed to and from the virtual address that is unnecessarily routed through VPN gateways.05-20-2010
20100142515BLENDING TELEPHONY SERVICES IN AN INTERNET PROTOCOL MULTIMEDIA SUBSYSTEM - An Internet protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) gateway application server includes an originating application server module adapted to invoke call control services in response to requests initiated by a voice over Internet Protocol (IP) (VoIP) client associated with a communication device such as an IP telephone. Disclosed gateway application servers include a proxy server module adapted to notify the communication client of session control messages intended for the communication device.06-10-2010
20100246552METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DELIVERING IPP2T (IP-PUSH-TO-TALK) WIRELESS LAN MOBILE RADIO SERVICE - A wireless subscriber terminal (ST) for use with IP push-to-talk (IPP2T) service using a wireless local area network (WLAN) operating in a plurality of modes, including a mobile terminal having an ability to communicate over the air to a wireless Access Point (AP), the mobile terminal further programmable to use conventional WLAN protocols, and a method for operating the wireless terminal are described.09-30-2010
20100287037Payment of Highway Tolls via a Mobile Telecommunications Network - Disclosed are method and apparatus for processing of highway toll payments by a mobile telecommunications service provider. A mobile telecommunications device communicates with a mobile telecommunications service provider. The mobile telecommunications service provider receives a request to calculate a route to a destination. The mobile telecommunications service provider determines the location of the mobile telecommunications device from a global navigation satellite system or from a mobile telecommunications network and calculates a route. The mobile telecommunications service provider then identifies toll booths along the calculated route. The mobile telecommunications service provider pre-pays the tolls. The mobile telecommunications service provider sends turn-by-turn instructions to the mobile telecommunications device and tracks the location of the mobile telecommunications device and records the date and time at which the mobile telecommunications device passes through a toll booth.11-11-2010
20110069646INTRA-PREMISES WIRELESS BROADBAND SERVICE USING LUMPED AND DISTRIBUTED WIRELESS RADIATION FROM CABLE SOURCE INPUT - A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, an apparatus that includes a communication interface for receiving broadband signals and for transmitting RF frequency signals to a diplexer located within a premises via cabling where the RF frequency signals are configured for distribution to signal radiation devices of the premises via the diplexer and where the RF frequency signals are configured for being radiated by the signal radiation devices to at least one wireless device; and a controller for generating packetized signals from the received broadband signals at a first frequency and for modulating the packetized signals at a second frequency, wherein the RF frequency signals comprise the modulated packetized signals at the second frequency. Additional embodiments are disclosed.03-24-2011
20110137856METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AGGREGATING AND TRANSLATING REAL-TIME USER INFORMATION TO UPDATE SOCIAL NETWORK PROFILES - A method, computer readable medium and apparatus for automatically updating social network profiles are disclosed. For example, the method receives one or more inputs from a subscriber, processes the one or more inputs in accordance with a policy defined by the subscriber to produce an update about the subscriber and publishes the update about the subscriber on one or more social network profiles associated with the subscriber.06-09-2011
