20090089658PARALLEL APPROACH TO XML PARSING - A language for semi-structured documents, XML has emerged as the core of the web services architecture, and is playing crucial roles in messaging systems, databases, and document processing. However, the processing of XML documents has a reputation for poor performance, and a number of optimizations have been developed to address this performance problem from different perspectives, none of which have been entirely satisfactory. Parallel XML parsing leverages the growing prevalence of multicore architectures in all sectors of the computer market, and yields significant performance improvements. The design consists of an initial preparsing phase to determine the structure of the XML document (or other data document), followed by a full, parallel parse. The results of the preparsing phase are used to help partition the XML document for data parallel processing. The parallel parsing phase is, for example, a modification of the libxml2 XML parser, which demonstrates that the approach applies to real-world, production quality parsers. Empirical study shows the parallel XML parsing algorithm can improve the XML parsing performance significantly and scales well.04-02-2009

20120025853SOLID STATE SENSOR FOR METAL ION DETECTION AND TRAPPING IN SOLUTION - A device, apparatus and method for trapping metal ions and detecting metal ion contamination in a solution provide a semiconductor device formed on a semiconductor substrate and including an N-well formed over a P-type substrate and at least a contact portion of the N-well in electrical contact with the solution. When the semiconductor device is optically illuminated, a P/N junction is formed as a result of photovoltaic phenomena. Metal ions from the solution migrate to the contact area due to the voltage created at the P/N junction. The semiconductor device includes a conductive structure with conductive features separated by a gap and therefore in an initially electrically open state. When the ions migrate to the contact area, they precipitate, at least partially bridging the gap and creating conductance through the conductive structure. The conductance may be measured to determine the amount of metal ion contamination.02-02-2012

20080251402Wrench Base Structure - A wrench base structure comprises a positioning stage and an outward-spreading arm. The positioning stage and the outward-spreading arm are formed with positioning holes and restricting holes respectively. One end of the outward-spreading arm is connected to the positioning stage by an elastic section, and the elastic section keeps the outward-spreading arm being slanted outward at a predetermined angle. By such arrangements, the force of the outward-spreading arm returning the inclined outward-spreading angle is utilized to make the restricting holes stagger with the positioning holes of the positioning stage and position the wrench which is inserted through both the restricting hole and the positioning hole. Further, it can reduce the cost of production.10-16-2008
