20100235396Distributed File System Access - A system and method for providing access in a distributed filesystem. The disclosure describes systems and methods for providing access to filesystem objects in a distributed filesystem (DFS). In one implementation, access to filesystem objects in the DFS can he restricted to only authenticated users and client devices. To this end, the client devices of the DFS can be divided into trusted and non-trusted clients, and further access can be denied to non-trusted clients. Concepts of trusted computing can be utilized to obtain trusted clients. New clients added to the system can be added as non-trusted clients. Further, access can be restricted by extending the file access permissions to include additional bits that can control access to non-trusted clients. In certain situations, the owner of the object can be allowed access to the object from a non-trusted client.09-16-2010

20090282224CLIPPING A KNOWN RANGE OF INTEGER VALUES USING DESIRED CEILING AND FLOOR VALUES - An aspect of the present invention clips a sequence of data values within a known range (defined by a set of integer values) by a ceiling value and a floor value. In an embodiment, such a feature is obtained by first storing in each of a sequence of memory locations a respective value corresponding to each integer value, with a stored value in a memory location equaling the floor value if the memory location corresponds to an integer having a value less than the floor value, equaling the ceiling value if the memory location corresponds to an integer having a value greater than the ceiling value, and equaling the value of the corresponding integer otherwise. When a sequence of data values are thereafter received for clipping, the clipped value for each data value is obtained by merely retrieving a corresponding stored value from the corresponding location.11-12-2009
20090303338DETAILED DISPLAY OF PORTION OF INTEREST OF AREAS REPRESENTED BY IMAGE FRAMES OF A VIDEO SIGNAL - According to an aspect of the present invention, a sequence of combined frames are formed by including each of a sequence of source image frames and a portion of the same source image frame in the corresponding combined frame. The combined image frames may be displayed on a display screen. The display screen can also be used to display the sequence of source image frames alone (instead of the combined image frames), at user's option.12-10-2009

20100249184INDUCTION AND/OR MAINTENANCE OF TUMOR DORMANCY BY DISRUPTION OF UROKINASE PLASMINOGEN ACTIVATOR RECEPTOR-INTEGRIN INTERACTION - The present invention relates to a method of inducing cancer cells into dormancy and treating cancer in a subject. This method involves administering to a subject an effective amount of a compound that disrupts interaction between urokinase plasminogen activator receptor and integrin, thereby including cancer cells into dormancy and treating cancer in the subject. Also disclosed is a method of disrupting interaction between integrin and urokinase plasminogen activator receptor on cancer cells. The present invention also relates to a method of screening for compounds effective in inducing tumor dormancy and treating cancer in a subject.09-30-2010

20110210315NOVEL DONOR-ACCEPTOR FLUORENE SCAFFOLDS: A PROCESS AND USES THEREOF - The present invention relates to novel donor-acceptor fluorene compounds, which can be used as for the fabrication of electroluminescent devices, and a process of preparing said novel compounds. More particularly, the present invention relates to amine donor and nitrile/ester acceptor fluorenes, fluorenones their π-conjugated systems and related compounds, processes for preparing the said compounds including oxidation of fluorenes to corresponding fluorenones and their use in preparing organic electronic devices such as organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), photovoltaic/solar cell, Field effect transistors and other useful electroluminescent devices. The compounds are prepared by reacting 2H-pyran-2-ones in isolated or rigid conformations with cyclic ketones containing methylene carbonyl moiety in the presence of a base in an organic solvent. The present invention also relates to a new concept and approach to overcome the problem of ‘Green emission defect’ in 9-unsubstituted fluorene-based organic light emitting diodes which occurs due to the conversion of fluorenes to fluorenones that show emission mainly in green-yellow region. In the present invention we have placed donor-acceptor substituents in such a way that donor-acceptor fluorenones show emission in the blue region (instead of green-yellow region) thus improving the blue colour purity and overcoming the problem of green emission defect.09-01-2011
