20080276484Dryer having structure for enhanced drying and method of use - A dryer and a drying apparatus attachable to a dryer are disclosed. A wheel having desiccant material is located in line and in close proximity with a heating element. The wheel includes a first portion positioned in an inlet air path and a second portion positioned in an outlet air path. The desiccant material removes water molecules from air within the inlet air path, and lowers the vapor pressure of the incoming air. In the outlet air path, heated air flows through the second portion to transfer energy to the desiccant material. The wheel rotates to change the desiccant material within the portions.11-13-2008

20090205220Dryer and adapter having ducting system - An adapter to a dryer, or a new configuration to a dryer, allows articles, such as clothes, towels, sheets and the like to dry with reduced energy consumption. The adapted configuration draws air from outside the room or structure housing the dryer. The outside air is then used to dry the articles. The outside air can be heated within the dryer using the existing heater prior to entering the drum holding the articles. After the heated air removes moisture from the articles, the moist, hot air is expelled outside the room or structure through an outlet air duct. Thus, air within the room or structure is not used for the drying process and conditions such as temperature and pressure are not changed when the dryer is on.08-20-2009

20090288384SYSTEM FOR REDUCING OIL CONSUMPTION IN GAS TURBINE ENGINES - A system for reducing oil usage from a sump in a gas turbine engine. Two sources of oil usage, which usage includes leakage and consumption, have been identified: (1) during idle, leakage of oil from an oil sump through seals and (2) during high-power operation, consumption of oil entrained in vent air exiting from the sump. At idle, the invention reduces pressure in the sump, to thereby increase airflow across the seals into the sump, to inhibit the oil leakage across the seals. At high power operation, the pressure reduction is terminated, but flow exiting the vent is artificially restricted.11-26-2009

20090044242System and method of providing video content - A method of providing video content is disclosed that includes receiving video content associated with a television stream from a video source at a server of a video distribution network. The method also includes sending a primary multicast video stream corresponding to the video content to a video distribution network entity via an Internet Protocol (IP) network. The primary multicast video stream is associated with a first bandwidth. Further, the method includes sending a secondary multicast video stream to the video distribution network entity via the IP network. The secondary multicast video stream is associated with a second bandwidth. The primary multicast video stream and the secondary multicast video stream are accessible to a set-top box device via the video distribution network entity in response to a channel change request that indicates the television stream. In addition, the frames of the secondary multicast video stream may be delayed with respect to their counterparts in the primary multicast video stream. This insures that, after sufficient buffering of frames of the primary multicast video stream, when the set-top box device switches from the secondary multicast video stream to the primary multicast video stream there will be no noticeable time shift.02-12-2009
20100091647Method for Restoration and Normalization in a Mesh Network - The present invention is directed to methods for signaling that enable bandwidth reservation, path restoration, path normalization, and path removal in a mesh network that supports shared mesh restoration.04-15-2010
20100313251Method and Apparatus for Coordinating a Change in Service Provider Between a Client and a Server with Identity Based Service Access Management - A method of configuring a network access device connected to an access network connected to a plurality of service networks, the network device having a first network address allocated to a subscriber of services of a first service provider provided by a first service network, with a new network address allocated to a second subscriber of services of either the first service provider, or a second service provider provided by a second service network. The method comprises the steps of: sending a request from the network access device to the access network with user credentials for the second subscriber requesting access to the first service provider or a change to the second service provider; receiving a response from the access network; and initiating a network address change request using a configuration protocol. In this manner, a second network address allocated to the second subscriber of services of either the first or second service providers is assigned to the network access device to enable the network access device to communicate data packets to the service network providing the selected service.12-09-2010
20100316046Method for performing gate coordination on a per-call basis - Network resources for a call between a calling party and a called party are allocated. The network resources for the call are reserved based on a reservation request. The network resources are reserved before any one network resource from the reserved network resources is committed. The reserved network resources for the call are committed when a called party indicates acceptance for the call.12-16-2010

20090006901Control Systems and Method Using a Shared Component Actuator - In one embodiment, a control system supports an unlimited number of feedback control loops all sharing control of a component. A component performance rate or “speed” is used as a common metric for negotiating control of the component. Each control loop continuously monitors a system parameter it is tasked with regulating, compares it to a setpoint for that system parameter, and “requests” a speed in relation to the deviation of the associated system parameter from the corresponding setpoint. A controller receives the requested speeds as dynamic inputs and selects one of the requested speeds according to predefined selection logic. The controller communicates the selected speed to an actuator, which causes the component to operate at the selected speed. In this manner, the control system in effect negotiates control of the component in a way that ensures that all of the system parameters are being managed within safe limits.01-01-2009

20100332872Priority-Based Power Capping in Data Processing Systems - A mechanism is provided for priority-based power capping. A power management controller identifies a set of priorities for a set of partitions of the data processing system. The power management controller determines whether a measured power of the data processing system exceeds a power cap for the data processing system. Responsive to the measured power exceeding the power cap, the power management controller sends a set of commands to a set of component actuators to adjust one or more of a set of operation parameters for a set of components associated with the set of partitions using the set of priorities. The set of component actuators adjust the one or more of the set of operational parameters associated with the set of component in order to reduce a power consumption of the data processing system.12-30-2010
