20090265468Fair Bandwidth redistribution algorithm - A process of managing bandwidth in a computer network having normal users and users that consume a disproportionate amount of bandwidth includes creating bandwidth gates for m users causing disproportionate traffic on the network, each bandwidth gate providing a bandwidth of y, and setting m to a minimum and y to a maximum for the set m.10-22-2009

20090064578Biomass Gasifier System with Low Energy and Maintenance Requirements - A down-draft fixed bed gasifier is disclosed that produced clean producer or synthesis gas. The gasifier can be installed at a stationary location or can be scaled down to enable placing the gasifier on a trailer that can be moved to the site of biomass generation. The gasifier is vertically oriented and generally cylindrical, and the design allows for a continual input of feedstock into the gasifier with less clogging and without lowering the gas pressure inside the gasifier. The design incorporates an internal catalyst to clean tars from the produced gas, and uses heat from the combustion chamber of the gasifier to heat the catalyst. The flow of air may be either positive flow or negative flow.03-12-2009

20100245694Systems and Methods of All-Optical Fourier Phase Contrast Imaging Using Dye Doped Liquid Crystals - An assembly for converting a microscope into a phase contrast microscope includes a first optical Fourier element that Fourier transforms light from a coherent light source, a cell in the Fourier plane arranged to receive light from the first optical Fourier element, a second optical Fourier element arranged to receive light from the cell and inversely Fourier transform the received light to provide an image, an image sensor that detects the image and generates an electronic representation of the image, and an adaptor capable of coupling the first and second Fourier elements, the cell, and the image sensor to the microscope such that the first Fourier element Fourier transforms light collected by the microscope objective. The cell includes liquid crystal molecules having a phase transition temperature, wherein at temperatures exceeding the phase transition temperature, light transmitting through the liquid crystal molecules obtains a different phase than light transmitting through the liquid crystal molecules at temperatures below the phase transition temperature.09-30-2010
