20090045056Stable three enzyme creatinine biosensor - The invention provides methods for preparing a stable, multiple-use three enzyme biosensor for the amperometric determination of creatinine in biological liquids that has a useful lifetime that extends significantly beyond that of presently available amperometric biosensors. The biosensor prepared by the methods of the invention encompasses a plurality of immobilized enzymes that are applied to the biosensor as an enzyme-polymer composition. The enzymes, which can include creatinine amidohydrolase, creatine amidinohydrolase and sarcosine oxidase, are immobilized into the enzyme-polymer composition simultaneously as well as applied to the biosensor simultaneously. Prior to being immobilized, the enzymes can be chemically modified by attaching one or more polyethylene glycol (PEG) chains per enzyme monomer. The polymer component can be provided by a polyurethane membrane. The invention also provides a method of preparing a biosensor that limits the diffusion of silver ions emanating the reference electrode, thereby preventing, contact between the silver ions and the enzymes. Related methods of preparing an enzyme-polymer composition for incorporation into a multiple use three enzyme biosensor for the amperometric determination of creatinine in biological liquids also are provided. The invention also provides multiple-use biosensors and enzyme-polymer compositions prepared by the methods disclosed.02-19-2009

These methods and devices reduce network traffic while maintaining maximum freshness of the UPnP controlled device status. These and other features of the present invention are accomplished by introducing an intermediary proxy device to moderate multicast messages that are transmitted over the network. The proxy device receives unicast messages from a UPnP controlled device and transmits multicast information on behalf of the UPnP controlled device at a lower rate. In addition, the proxy device can detect unexpected unavailability of the UPnP controlled device and promptly alert other control points on the UPnP network.12-10-2009

20100035427METHODS FOR GROWING LOW-RESISTIVITY TUNGSTEN FILM - Improved methods for depositing low resistivity tungsten films are provided. The methods involve depositing a tungsten nucleation layer on a substrate and then depositing a tungsten bulk layer over the tungsten nucleation layer to form the tungsten film. The methods provide precise control of the nucleation layer thickness and improved step coverage. According to various embodiments, the methods involve controlling thickness and/or improving step coverage by exposing the substrate to pulse nucleation layer (PNL) cycles at low temperature. Also in some embodiments, the methods may improve resistivity by using a high temperature PNL cycle of a boron-containing species and a tungsten-containing precursor to finish forming the tungsten nucleation layer.02-11-2010
20100159694METHOD FOR DEPOSITING THIN TUNGSTEN FILM WITH LOW RESISTIVITY AND ROBUST MICRO-ADHESION CHARACTERISTICS - Methods of forming low resistivity tungsten films with good uniformity and good adhesion to the underlying layer are provided. The methods involve forming a tungsten nucleation layer using a pulsed nucleation layer process at low temperature and then treating the deposited nucleation layer prior to depositing the bulk tungsten fill. The treatment operation lowers resistivity of the deposited tungsten film. In certain embodiments, the depositing the nucleation layer involves a boron-based chemistry in the absence of hydrogen. Also in certain embodiments, the treatment operations involve exposing the nucleation layer to alternating cycles of a reducing agent and a tungsten-containing precursor. The methods are useful for depositing films in high aspect ratio and/or narrow features. The films exhibit low resistivity at narrow line widths and excellent step coverage.06-24-2010
20100273327METHOD FOR IMPROVING UNIFORMITY AND ADHESION OF LOW RESISTIVITY TUNGSTEN FILM - Methods of improving the uniformity and adhesion of low resistivity tungsten films are provided. Low resistivity tungsten films are formed by exposing the tungsten nucleation layer to a reducing agent in a series of pulses before depositing the tungsten bulk layer. According to various embodiments, the methods involve reducing agent pulses with different flow rates, different pulse times and different interval times.10-28-2010
20110223763METHODS FOR GROWING LOW-RESISTIVITY TUNGSTEN FOR HIGH ASPECT RATIO AND SMALL FEATURES - The present invention addresses this need by providing methods for depositing low resistivity tungsten films in small features and features having high aspect ratios. The methods involve depositing very thin tungsten nucleation layers by pulsed nucleation layer (PNL) processes and then using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) to deposit a tungsten layer to fill the feature. Depositing the tungsten nucleation layer involves exposing the substrate to alternating pulses of a boron-containing reducing agent and a tungsten-containing precursor without using any hydrogen gas, e.g., as a carrier or background gas. Using this process, a conformal tungsten nucleation layer can be deposited to a thickness as small as about 10 Angstroms. The feature may then be wholly or partially filled with tungsten by a hydrogen reduction chemical vapor deposition process. Resistivities of about 14 μΩ-cm for a 500 Angstrom film may be obtained.09-15-2011
20120015518METHOD FOR DEPOSITING THIN TUNGSTEN FILM WITH LOW RESISTIVITY AND ROBUST MICRO-ADHESION CHARACTERISTICS - Methods of forming low resistivity tungsten films with good uniformity and good adhesion to the underlying layer are provided. 20110284059THERMOPHOTOVOLTAIC ENERGY GENERATION - Inventive systems and methods for the generation of energy using thermophotovoltaic cells are described. Also described are systems and methods for selectively emitting electromagnetic radiation from an emitter for use in thermophotovoltaic energy generation systems. In at least some of the inventive energy generation systems and methods, a voltage applied to the thermophotovoltaic cell (e.g., to enhance the power produced by the cell) can be adjusted to enhance system performance. Certain embodiments of the systems and methods described herein can be used to generate energy relatively efficiently.11-24-2011

20090068820Microspheres including nanoparticles - A microparticle can include a central region and a peripheral region. The peripheral region can include a nanoparticle, such as a metal nanoparticle, a metal oxide nanoparticle, or a semiconductor nanocrystal. The microparticle can be a member of a monodisperse population of particles.03-12-2009
20100303119Microfluidic Lasers - The present invention generally relates to lasers comprising fluidic channels, such as microfluidic channels. In some instances, the channel contains two or more fluids. The fluids may remain non-mixed within the channel, for example, due to immiscibility and/or laminar flow within the channel. The fluids may be arranged in the channel such that light propagating in a first fluid is prevented by the second fluid from exiting the first fluid, for example, due to differences in the indexes of refraction (e.g., causing internal reflection of the fluid to occur). Thus, in one embodiment, a first fluid may be at least partially surrounded by a second fluid having a second index of refraction lower than the index of refraction of the first fluid. In some embodiments, the fluidic channel is used as a laser, for instance, a dye laser, i.e., a laser created by directing light at a dye to produce coherent light. The dye may be present in one or more fluids within the fluidic channel. The incident light (for example, created by another laser) may be directed at the channel from any angle. In some cases, laser light may be produced in a direction substantially aligned with the longitudinal axis of the channel. In some embodiments, the laser is free of mirrors, prisms, or gratings, or the laser may produce coherent light using a non-resonant photonic pathway. However, in other cases, mirrors, prisms, or gratings may be used to reflect light along the channel to enhance stimulated emission of coherent light. Another aspect of the invention includes optical diffractors, such as prisms or gratings, which can contain a fluid. The optical diffractors, in certain embodiments, are positioned to diffract light, such as coherent light, emanating from the fluidic channel. Still other aspects of the invention provide devices, kits, and methods of making and using such lasers.12-02-2010
