20100276840APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MAKING SUTURE PACKAGES - Apparatus and method for making a plurality of different types of suture packages employ a mold with first and second opposing mold parts partially defining a mold cavity, at least one of the opposing mold parts has an opening therein communicating with the mold cavity. An insert is removeably inserted into the opening, to complete the mold cavity in a form suitable for molding a first type of suture package. An alternative insert is interchangeable with the first insert for completing the mold cavity in a form suitable for molding a second type of suture package. To make different suture packages, the mold is initially configured and used with one of the inserts to thereby make one type of suture package. The first insert is then replaced with the second, changing the mold cavity to form another type of suture package.11-04-2010

20110166438RF FIELD SHAPING AND ATTENUATION FOR EMAI INDUCTION ELEMENTS - An Electro-Magnetic Imaging (EMAI) System is presented. EMAI systems can include induction elements (e.g., an induction coil) configured to induce a target tissue to generate internally sourced ultrasounds. The induction elements can be shielded by one or more shielding elements to shape, or otherwise alter, an imaging field while attenuating radiated fields in a far zone. EMAI systems can further include a shield tuner to adjust shield parameters to achieved desired imaging or radiated field properties. A shielding element can be placed approximately one induction coil radius away from the coil to achieve suitably strong imaging field magnitudes while also achieving suitably weak radiated field magnitudes in a far zone. In some embodiments, acoustic sensors lack substantial shielding from the fields generated by the induction elements.07-07-2011

20080212819LOW NOISE MICROPHONE FOR USE IN WINDY ENVIRONMENTS AND/OR IN THE PRESENCE OF ENGINE NOISE - A microphone for use in windy environments. The microphone uses a transducer to flood the environment outside the microphone with a high frequency (such as an ultrasonic) acoustic field. The sounds desired to be detected are mixed with the high frequency carrier, and can then be received by the microphone with less wind noise. The microphone then demodulates the desired sound signals from the high frequency carrier. The microphone can be configured in a special emitter-receiver configuration that also reduces interference from engine noise.09-04-2008
20110288411Multi-Mode Induced Acoustic Imaging Systems And Methods - A multi-mode Electro-Magnetic Acoustic Imaging (EMAI) system is disclosed. The EMAI system utilizes an electromagnetic energy source to induce multiple acoustic signals in surrounding objects including a target tissue area or a transducer. The induced acoustic signals can be collected and converted to imaging data, which can be used to display a tissue area image. The collected acoustic signals can be filtered or isolated based on one or more signal proprieties including frequency. A signal's frequency can indicate a property of the target tissue including the tissue's conductivity or its density.11-24-2011
20110288450Time-Reversed Mirroring Electro-Magnetic Acoustic Treatment System - A time-reversal mirroring electromagnetic acoustic treatment system is disclosed where electro-magnetic signals are directed to a region of interest in or on a patient. The EM signals induce an internally sourced acoustic signal due to variations in conductivity of the target tissue. Acoustic data representative of the induced acoustic signal are collected and analyzed to develop a model of a measured conductivity topology representing the conductivity topology of the target tissue. Measured parameters associated with the measured conductivity topology and derived from the acoustic data can be used to generate a time-reversed mirror acoustic treatment signal that can be used to apply a therapeutic treatment to a target tissue within the region of interest.11-24-2011
