COMPRESSED AIR DISSECTOR (AIR JET SCRAPER) - Compressed air dissector is a surgical dissector which is used in tumor dissection and excision phases in surgical branches and especially in neurosurgery and microsurgery. The problem at this point is removal of the tumoral tissue without damaging the adjacent normal tissue and the blood vessels feeding the normal tissue. Moreover, serious difficulties may be encounter in the dissection phase of the arachnoid matter in brain surgery. The occurring adhesions can easily be opened with the aid of the air dissector. This provides great convenience in aneurism surgery. The operation principle of the compressed air dissector is direction of the controlled, sterile compressed air (gas) to the brain parenchyma and removal of the dissected particles from the location with an aspirator system. In said system, the particles in the air are cleaned with a filter system. When the compressed air is directed to the tumor tissue it easily dissects and removes the tumor. In the meanwhile, as no liquids are present in the lacuna the operation site can be seen clearly. Furthermore, event the smallest vessels are protected. Thus, peroperative bleeding occurs less and the postoperative wound curing becomes more physiologic. Moreover, tissue damage due to thermal effect is out of the question during the use of compressed air dissector. | 12-31-2009

MODULAR COMPACT ADSORPTION BED - A modular and compact adsorbent bed structure is disclosed for use in an adsorption-based gas separation plant. The conventional adsorbent bed in a gas separation plant is replaced with a plurality of modular adsorbent bed units connected to make the adsorbent bed structure. Modular adsorbent bed units of this invention provide higher capacity of product per unit volume of adsorbent material (i.e., increased adsorbent utilization) as compared to that obtained from conventional adsorbent beds. The modular design requires lower fabrication costs; is easier to transport; has less maintenance and repair requirements; and is easier to load with adsorbent material. | 06-23-2011

MAGNETIC RESONANCE METHOD AND APPARATUS TO SEPARATE DEPICTION OF A TRACKED ITEM FROM SURROUNDING ANATOMY OF A PATIENT, USING A TRANSMIT ARRAY SYSTEM - In a method for detecting rotational orientation and position tracking of an inductively coupled RF (ICRF) coil using a transmit array system, a conventional body birdcage coil is used, but the quadrature hybrid is eliminated to use the two excitation-channels separately. The transmit array system provides RF excitations such that the body birdcage coil creates linearly polarized and circulating RF pulses instead of a conventional rotational forward polarized excitation. Inductively coupled RF (ICRF) coils can be constructed on catheters for detecting rotational orientation and tracking purposes. The modifications on anatomy and ICRF coil images are different due to the RF excitation scheme such that the ICRF coil can be separated from the anatomy in real-time. After separating the ICRF coil from the anatomy, a color-coded image can be reconstructed, for example. | 10-20-2011

VIDEO WATERMARKING - A method of watermarking a video signal includes encoding the video signal using at least one encoding parameter that is time-varied according to a watermarking pattern. The parameter affects information lost while encoding the signal. The parameter may be a quantization factor corresponding to a particular coefficient of an encoding transform. The parameter may be an element of a quantization matrix corresponding to a particular coefficient in a block DCT transform. The method may be implemented in devices with limited processing resources by means of a software update. The method enables the devices to imprint an encoded signal with a robust watermark, which may survive subsequent decompression and recompression. Alternatively, a video signal may be watermarked by modifying a magnitude of a non-dc spatial frequency component in a manner which varies with time according to a watermarking pattern. Corresponding watermark detection methods and watermarking devices also are disclosed. | 02-25-2010
CRYPTOGRAPHIC PROCESSING OF CONTENT - A system for cryptographic processing of content comprises an input for receiving the content. A plurality of look-up tables represents a white-box implementation of a combined cryptographic and watermarking operation. The look-up tables represent processing steps of the combined cryptographic and watermarking operation and the look-up tables being arranged for being applied according to a predetermined look-up scheme. The look-up scheme prescribes that an output of a first look-up table of the plurality of look-up tables be used to generate an input of a second look-up table of the plurality of look-up tables. The combined cryptographic and watermarking operation comprises a cryptographic operation and a watermarking operation. A control module looks up values in the plurality of look-up tables in dependence on the received content and in accordance to the look-up scheme, thereby applying the combined cryptographic and watermarking operation to the content. | 11-25-2010

Digital Watermarking of Low Bit Rate Video - Methods for embedding digital watermarks in compressed video include perceptual adapting a digital watermark in predicted and non-predicted data based on block activity derived from the compressed video stream, embedding in predicted objects in a video stream having separately compressed video objects, and bit rate control of watermarked video. | 05-27-2010
Watermark Placement in Watermarking of Time Varying Media Signals - A method of placing a watermark in a video stream estimates motion between frames in the video stream, and computes a representative motion for a frame. Before embedding the watermark in that frame, the method spatially adjusts a digital watermark by the representative motion. This method is particularly suited for embedding a watermark in a video stream compressed using motion estimation. In this case, the method uses the motion vectors in the video stream to compute a dominant motion for a frame, and then shifts the watermark by this dominant motion before embedding it in the frame. | 12-23-2010

GENERATING STATISTICS OF POPULAR CONTENT - Client terminals report an easy-to-calculate identifier such as the Internet URL or a cryptographic hash of the content to a server. The server collects and counts the reported identifiers so as to obtain preliminary statistics. By aggregating these reported identifiers into the preliminary statistics, identifiers are revealed that are likely popular content. The server selects one or more identifiers from the preliminary statistics and makes these available to at least a subset of clients. The clients that obtain these one or more identifiers then access content and compute the easy-to-calculate identifiers as usual. If the computed identifier matches one of the identifiers obtained from the server, the client will additionally extract a watermarked identifier or compute a digital fingerprint of the content in question and report this to the server. The server then uses the received identifier or fingerprint to create final statistics by aggregating the preliminary statistics. | 03-17-2011
