20090039081Step can - A trash can is disclosed having an exterior shell, a liner seated within the shell, a latch pivotably attached to the liner for securing a flexible bag to the liner, and a handle to facilitate placing and removing of the liner from the shell. An optional aspect of the invention is to affix the handle of the liner to the latch. The liner of the trash can, in a featured embodiment, utilizes a latch having a body portion into which surplus of the flexible bag may be gathered and held. The trash can may further include a lid connected to the exterior shell. The lid connects to the shell using a front hinge and a back hinge and is actuated by a foot pedal. The actuating foot pedal is preferably seated at a base of the exterior shell and connects to the lever arm of the front hinge such that depressing the foot pedal exerts a downward force on the lever arm to open the lid. In this configuration, the lid is lifted via a downward pull on the first hinge rather than a direct upward force on the lid.02-12-2009
20100055252Post-Mix Beverage System - A beverage dispensing system comprises a container, an attachment mechanism, and a cartridge. The container may hold a mixing solution or liquid, such as water, to be mixed with the contents of the cartridge. The attachment mechanism is generally located within the container. The attachment mechanism may comprise an engagement assembly, a piercing portion, and a valve assembly. The engagement assembly may generally receive the cartridge within the attachment mechanism. The piercing portion may generally pierce the cartridge, thereby releasing the contents of the cartridge into the container. The valve assembly may generally open upon engagement of the cartridge with the attachment mechanism. The cartridge generally engages with the attachment mechanism to open the cartridge to be dispensed into the container, thereby combining the contents of the cartridge with the liquid within the container to create a drinkable beverage.03-04-2010

20100083946PORTABLE COMBUSTION DEVICE UTILIZING THERMOELECTRICAL GENERATION - This invention provides a portable combustion device that provides a cleaner combustion, reduces the kindling period, and provides a more efficient overall combustion through the use of a fan that directs a predetermined volume of airflow over the combustible fuel—typically wood or similar cellulose-based biological solids. The combustion device has a combustion chamber into which the fuel source is placed for combustion. Mounted to the side of the combustion chamber is a housing that encloses the TEG, which generates an electrical output based on a difference in temperature on opposing sides. Mounted onto the TEG housing and protruding into the combustion chamber through a small passageway is a heat-conducting probe and heat-conducting probe base unit. The opposing side of the TEG is also in contact with a heat sink to remove heat from the TEG device through interaction with ambient air that passes over the vanes from a port located along the side of the TEG housing. A motor and fan near the heat sink to draw air away the heat sink and aid in the cooling of the heat sink, and force air onto the combusting fuel through a plurality of peripheral ports that connect with an air space located between the inner and outer walls of the combustion chamber.04-08-2010

20100107421CONVERTIBLE CUTTING INSTRUMENT - Described embodiments relate to a convertible cutting instrument with improved safety. In particular, some embodiments relate to a convertible cutting instrument that may be safely handled while blades of the cutting instrument are in a closed position, with no exposed cutting edges. Some further embodiments relate to a convertible cutting instrument that comprises only two cutting edges, both of which are inwardly-facing when the cutting instrument is in a dual-blade configuration. This may render the cutting instrument safer for use as a pair of scissors or shears. A conversion mechanism may be used to convert an inwardly-facing cutting edge into an outwardly facing cutting edge, so that the cutting instrument may be used as a knife.05-06-2010
20100107426HAND-HELD HOLE PUNCH - A hand-held hole punch is provided with a handle assembly including a first handle and a second handle. A first jaw is coupled to the first handle and a second jaw is coupled the second handle, where the second jaw is spaced apart from the first jaw. A punch is coupled to one of the jaws and the handle assembly is adapted to actuate the punch. In one embodiment, the handle assembly actuates the punch by movement of at least one of the first and second handles in manner that maintains a substantially parallel relationship of the second handle with the at least a portion of the first handle.
