20080235400CONTENT REQUEST ROUTING AND LOAD BALANCING FOR CONTENT DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS - A content distribution mechanism that distributes content of a content provider at various sites across a network and selects the site that is nearest a content requestor using an anycast address that resides at each of the sites. The sites are configured as nodes (or clusters) and each node includes a content server and a DNS server. The DNS servers are so associated with the content servers at their respective nodes as to resolve the name of the content provider to the IP address of the content servers at the nodes. The DNS servers each are assigned the anycast address in addition to a unique address, and the anycast address is advertised to the network (in particular, the network routing infrastructure) using Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). Node selection occurs when the network routing infrastructure selects a shortest path to the anycast address during DNS name resolution.09-25-2008

20100274658Payment Rewards - A computer system enables a financial institution to award an account reward points when a customer remits a payment in a timely basis. Consequently, the financial institution encourages repayment of debt and recognizes good behavior through reward points every time a payment is received on-time. Each time a customer pays on-time, a credit card company may assign reward points to the customer's account for the amount of the payment. When a payment for a loan has been received in accordance with a reward policy, a number of reward points may be awarded to a customer that is dependent on a payment amount. For example, when the payment amount is at least as great as a minimum due and not greater than a balance due, setting the number of reward points to a constant multiplied by the payment amount. However, the reward points may be determined in a non-linear fashion.10-28-2010

20090288306DIGITAL RULER WITH LOW-FRICTION SLIDING CONTACT - A low cost digital ruler with desirable ergonomic characteristics and accuracy. A low friction sliding position indicator includes a compliant element that forces its connection pads against the ruler's electronic scale contacts, to determining measurement positions. The position indicator includes an instrument receiving feature that engages a writing instrument and moves in conjunction with it, thereby measuring a line as it is drawn. A position indicator preload arrangement includes the compliant element, which is deflected to exert a preload that forces the sliding position indicator against a housing of the digital ruler. Alignment features of the position indicator and housing have cross sections that provide a self-aligning angled interference fit, which accurately aligns the sliding position indicator, under the action of the preload force. Misalignment constraint surfaces constrain the sliding position indicator in approximate alignment by, even if an external force overcomes the preload force.11-26-2009

20100109876Devices, Systems and Methods to Control Caloric Intake - Devices, systems and methods are disclosed which relate to training a user in controlling and limiting total calorie consumption, and consequently body weight, by encouraging the user to perform specified consuming actions such as chewing slowly, adjusting a time interval between bites, detecting the early points of satiation, etc. The disclosure is therefore a “calorie pacer” that naturally reduces calorie consumption by re-teaching a user how to eat on a step-by-step basis. The slower eating pace results in a person feeling full before the intake of excessive food portions. The result is fewer calories consumed. Sensors and microcontrollers throughout a place setting are utilized to prompt the user, for example, when to take bites, how big of a bite to take, when to take a drink, etc and record the data in an efficient manner that allows for analysis, monitoring of progress, and personalized feedback.05-06-2010

20080223577FOAM DELIVERY SYSTEM - A foam delivery system comprises two delivery tubes providing a mixing chamber with a two-part polymeric foam. The mixing chamber mixes the two-part polymeric foam below a ground surface. A delivery manifold with delivery arms discharges the two-part polymer resin from the foam delivery system. A method of distributing a foam delivery systems comprises lowering a foam delivery system below a ground surface and discharging a polymer resin into the ground surface from a mixing chamber located below the ground surface. The mixing chamber discharges the polymer resin while the mixing chamber is lifted towards the ground surface, providing an expanding base of polymer resin. In that the chemicals are mixed at depth, that is, at the depth of the desired injection points, the possibility of premature setting and plugging of the delivery system is negated. An injector, comprising the mixing chamber and the delivery manifold, mixes the two-part chemical system at depth and then simultaneously distributes the mixed chemicals to up to six injection points at any desired depth.09-18-2008
