| 20110107768 | Variable Performance Valve - A variable performance valve for use in a fuel nozzle is presented. The valve includes a spring, an inner spool having a port, an outer sleeve, and an orifice, which in a fuel nozzle application may be a calibration orifice. In a low flow condition, the inlet to downstream pressure is the spring force divided by the area on which the pressure acts. At low flow the orifice does not cause any appreciable pressure drop. As the flow increases, a pressure drop develops across the orifice. Since the pressure drop across the valve cannot be greater than the spring force divided by valve area, the valve is forced to open to compensate. As flow is increased, the valve will stroke completely open and the pressure drop at the port becomes negligible and the pressure drop across the orifice is nearly 100% of the pressure drop across the valve. | 05-12-2011 |

The data are written in the form of a plurality of concentric data tracks. A deflection angle of the write beam is continuously adjusted in an axial direction along each track. In some embodiments, the axial deflection of the write beam imparts a desired angular offset between a beginning point of a first track and a beginning point of an immediately adjacent second track. This allows a first translation geometry, such as a linear translation path of a linear actuator, to emulate a different second translation geometry, such as a rotary translation path of a rotary actuator. | 08-05-2010 |

| 20090198765 | Digital asset usage accountability via event journaling - A technique for establishing a perimeter of accountability for usage of digital assets such as data files. The accountability model not only tracks authorized users' access to files, but monitors passage of such files to uncontrollable removable storage media or through network connections and the like which may indicate possible abuse of access. In accordance with a preferred embodiment, an autonomous independent agent process running at a point of use, such as in the background of a client operating system kernel, interrupts requests for access to resources. The agent process senses low level system events, filters, aggregates them, and makes reports to a journaling server. The journaling server analyzes sequences of low level events to detect when aggregate events of interest occur, such as “FileEdit”, network file transfers and the like. Reports can be generated to provide an understanding of how digital assets have been accessed, used or communicated by individuals in an enterprise. | 08-06-2009 |

In one example, a method includes acquiring measurement data from one or more semiconductor wafers of a processed first lot, the data having a plurality of contexts, applying a model having parameters with partitioning along the contexts to the measurement data; and applying a constraint on a subset of the model parameters such that the subset remains centered around zero to provide consistent updates for automated process control of lots processed after the first lot. | 03-26-2009 |

| 20100108959 | MATERIALS AND METHODS FOR THE PREPARATION OF ANISOTROPICALLY-ORDERED SOLIDS - The invention provides materials and methods for making anisotropic solids which may be in the form of films, layers, shaped elements, and other shaped articles. The methods provide anisotropic solids without the need for rolling, rubbing, or stretching to impart orientational alignment of the molecules of the solid. The methods employ organic or organometallic compounds which are soluble orienting molecules. The solvent or solvent system must be sufficiently volatile to be removed without disruption of the molecular orientation. The soluble orienting molecules include those containing one or more hydrophilic and/or ionic groups and the solvent or solvent system can be a polar organic solvent or solvent system or an aqueous solvent or solvent system. The invention also provides novel compounds having quaterrylene, perylene and naphthalene ring systems carrying one or more hydrophilic and/or ionic groups. These novel compounds can exhibit useful absorption and fluorescence properties in solution and in the solid phase and can exhibit useful liquid crystalline properties. | 05-06-2010 |

| 20100236773 | THERMOELECTRIC DRIVEN GAS WELL HEAT PUMP - A system for providing heat to natural gas well pipes and equipment uses a thermoelectric generator to supply electricity to a motor and gear pump. The thermoelectric generator drives a DC brushless motor and gear pump in order to circulate heated glycol from a dehydrator through a heating tube to thereby heat the pipes and equipment. Batteries may be used to buffer the power supply to prevent overloading the thermoelectric generator. | 09-23-2010 |

| 20110039047 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FORMING THERMOPLASTIC-COMPOSITE TUBING - A system and method for forming thermoplastic-carbon fiber composite tubing is described. A non-continuous thermoplastic-carbon fiber composite sleeve capable of being formed into a tubular product, a method for forming a tubular product, and a tubular product fabricated from thermoplastic-carbon fiber composite is described. The sleeve may include at least one non-continuous thermoplastic fiber strand that may be interwoven with at least one carbon fiber. The method may include the steps of weaving the material into at least one sleeve to be processed, positioning a bladder within the sleeve to create a work piece, and placing the work piece in a mold. The mold may be heated and the bladder may be pressurized to form a tubular product. The resulting tubular product may be fabricated from thermoplastic carbon fiber composite with improved physical properties. | 02-17-2011 |

| 20100000943 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DESOLVATING FLOWING LIQUID - Methods and apparatus for desolvating flowing liquid streams while retaining temporal resolution of dissolved substrates are disclosed. A novel small-scale self-regulating spray dryer preserves temporal resolution while desolvating a liquid chromatography eluent stream and depositing the solute onto an optical surface for infrared spectrographic analysis. The liquid eluent is pumped through a heated nebulizer to create a high-speed jet of solute containing liquid and solvent vapor. This jet is directed circumferentially inside a hot cylindrical cavity. Centrifugal force causes the larger liquid droplets to travel along the outer diameter of the cavity. The cavity surface is heated to cause the droplets to film boil. Film boiling reduces droplet contact with the cavity surface thereby retaining the solute in the droplets. The solute temperature is limited by controlling the pressure into which the solvent evaporates from the droplets. When the droplets are sufficiently small, Stokes drag from the exiting solvent vapor carries the droplets out through the center of the cylindrical cavity. After exiting, the superheated solvent vapor further dries the droplets. Solvent vapor is removed by condensation onto a cooled surface. A freezing point reducing agent may be added to improve removal of solvent condensate. Stokes drag from a non-condensable gas maintains the dried droplets in suspension. This suspension travels through an orifice that focuses the impaction of the dried droplets onto the optical surface for infrared analysis. The deposition surface is in an evacuated chamber and is temperature controlled to freeze liquid solutes yet allowing sublimation of residual solvent. | 01-07-2010 |
