20090093883Interspinous implant - This invention consists in an implant to be placed between the lumbar spinous and lumbar-sacral apophysis in order to keep them separated and enable a normal flexion and extension range. The implant is a cuneiform body which frontal end is rounded and higher than the rear end thus forming an open angle towards the frontal part of the implant. It has two supporting surfaces, opposite to the spinous apophysis and having in its most rear end two sharp edges which are opposite to the spine and located transversally to the longitudinal axis of said faces, and wherein said supporting surfaces are confined by two rhomboidal surfaces which major axis is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the implant.04-09-2009
20110046673INTERSPINOUS DISTRACTION IMPLANT - This invention is directed to an interspinous distraction implant, which is intended to restrict the motion of the vertebrae between themselves, thus improving the mechanical behavior that is altered by the intervertebral disk diseases.02-24-2011

20110184513Artificial corneal implant - A material that can be applied as implants designed to artificially replace or augment the cornea, such as an artificial cornea, corneal onlay, or corneal inlay (intrastromal lens) is provided. The artificial corneal implant has a double network hydrogel with a first network interpenetrated with a second network. The first network and the second network are based on biocompatible polymers. At least one of the network polymers is based on a hydrophilic polymer. The artificial cornea or implant has epithelialization promoting biomolecules that are covalently linked to the surface of the double network hydrogel using an azide-active-ester chemical linker. Corneal epithelial cells or cornea-derived cells are adhered to the biomolecules. The double network has a physiologic diffusion coefficient to allow passage of nutrients to the adhered cells.07-28-2011

20110071801METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DISPLAYING A REPRESENTATION OF A TRAFFIC INTERSECTION - A method and apparatus for displaying a representation of a traffic intersection on a display of a computer is disclosed. The method involves receiving operator input defining a relative orientation between a first roadway and a second roadway, the first and second roadways forming an intersection area therebetween. The method also involves receiving an operator selection of a design vehicle that is expected to use the traffic intersection, the design vehicle being defined by a plurality of design vehicle parameters. The method further involves generating at least one turning path of the design vehicle through the intersection between the first roadway and the second roadway, and generating first vehicle extent locations associated with passage of the design vehicle along the at least one turning path. The method also involves generating an outer edge of the intersection area, the outer edge being generally aligned with selected ones of the first vehicle extent locations, and generating display signals for causing the computer display to display an image representing the traffic intersection.03-24-2011

20090162270PROCESS FOR DISSOLVING SULFUR ORE USING DIARYL DISULFIDE - Embodiments of a sulfur extraction process comprise treating mined sulfur ore with a disulfide oil to dissolve the sulfur in the ore. The process occurs at a temperature less than a temperature sufficient to melt sulfur. The sulfur crystals may be isolated by cooling the dissolved sulfur to a temperature sufficient to crystallize the sulfur. An apparatus for extracting sulfur from sulfur ore comprises a first receptacle for contacting a disulfide oil with mined sulfur ore at an elevated temperature sufficient to dissolve sulfur, a second receptacle coupled to the first receptacle for cooling dissolved sulfur such that sulfur crystals form, and a filtration apparatus coupled to the second receptacle for isolating the sulfur crystals. Solvents used in the apparatus may be recycled.06-25-2009
