20100139149 | Fish Strike Indicator - The present invention relates to a fish strike signal that can selectively be placed in a storage position, a ready position or a deployed position. The signal has a main body with a storage ledge, a retainer and a pocket. A trigger is provided having a notch for engaging a segment of fishing line and having a kick-out post for deploying a signal. The kick-out post can be held with a pocket in the ready position. Rotation of the trigger caused by a strike forces the post from the pocket and causes the wire of the signal to clear a retainer on the side of the main body. A tension assembly is provided for adjusting the amount of force that is required to rotate the trigger. The post and a ledge holds the signal in place and the tensioner can be used to lock the signal in the storage position. | 06-10-2010 |

20090083245 | Using user context information to select media files for a user in a distributed multi-user digital media system - In a distributed or multi-user system, it is possible for a user to try to access a media file that is not optimal for the user's purposes. In other words, the best quality version of some source material might not be the most optimal version for all users. For example, some users might use less network bandwidth if they used lower resolution video data. User context information is used to limit which versions of a source may be provided to a user that requests the source. The system interprets the user context information to provide the best quality version of the source for the user's purposes. Example user context information may include a specified working resolution and/or a specified target resolution for the user. The context information may be specified for the user or may be specified for a group of users, location of the user or other characteristic related to the user, from which the user in turn inherits the context information. User context information may include an identifier of an application being used by an individual. The user context information also may indicate whether the user may receive media files with data at resolutions higher than or lower than the specified resolutions. | 03-26-2009 |

20140301716 | CONTENT-BASED UNIQUE MATERIAL IDENTIFIERS - A unique material identifier (UMID) for a media file that was not provided with a UMID at its point of origination is generated by using the content of the file, and is independent of the time of file import or accessing. For a given item of media material, the UMID remains unchanged and uniquely identifies the item when such a file is imported or accessed multiple times. The UMID may be generated by hashing together selected portions of the metadata and essence of the media file. The amount of metadata and essence sampled is chosen to provide a high degree of assurance that the UMID will be unique, but is kept small enough so as to avoid causing a perceptible lag when the UMID is generated. In various embodiments the UMID is based purely on one or more selected portions of the media file essence. | 10-09-2014 |

20120123592 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR JOINT MOTION SIMULATION - A joint motion simulator to simulate biomechanical motion includes a mount to which a prosthetic device is mounted, actuators coupled to the mount to drive the mount, and a programmable controller to drive the actuators to translate the mount and to rotate the mount with a center of rotation controllable independent of translation. The simulator can include a linear actuator to translate the mount in a linear direction substantially parallel to the axis of rotation. The linear actuator can include a piston within a sleeve, the piston being coupled to the mount and being hydraulically driven to translate the mount, and the actuators can be coupled to the sleeve. The controller may be programmed to vary the center of rotation with linear translation and rotation of the mount. Sensors may be included that measure displacement of the actuators. The controller may drive the actuators based on the measured displacement. | 05-17-2012 |
20130298633 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR THREE DIMENSIONAL CALIBRATION OF FORCE PLATES - A method for calibrating a force platform includes, providing a force platform and applying an nXm grid on a top surface of the force platform via a computing device. Next, applying p known loads on each of the nXm grid points of the top surface along a Z-axis being perpendicular to the X and Y axes and along the X and Y axes. Next, taking multipoint measurements at each grid point and for each applied known load along the X,Y and Z axes and generating six measured output signals, exact position coordinates and applied known load magnitude for each grid point. Next, assembling an array of nXmXp of six equations with six unknown for each grid point and applied known load and then solving the assembled equations and deriving a position and load specific calibration matrix for each grid point. | 11-14-2013 |

20080221570 | Non-imaging tracking tools and method for hip replacement surgery - The invention includes a method of determining a surgical patient's pelvic position and inputting that position into a computer via a tracking system, suitable for use in navigating partial or total hip replacement surgery. The patient is first aligned with anatomical reference points in relation to corresponding locating features on a patient positioner. The positions of index features on the patient positioner are then acquired via a tracking system. Based on the positions of the index features and their known relationship to the locating features, the locations of the anatomical reference features are calculated and a pelvic plane is defined therefrom. The invention also includes a surgical tool for mounting a trackable target to a human bone, suitable for fixation to a human femur. This tool includes a removable bone clamp and a releasable coupling member, integrated with said removable bone clamp. | 09-11-2008 |

20100139793 | Hot Side Only Spring Return Used On Single Lever Hot/Cold Faucet With Locking Mechanism - A faucet includes a valve body having a cartridge receiving bore. A valve cartridge is sealingly disposed in the bore. The valve cartridge includes a rotatable stem. An arc-shaped slot is created in the valve cartridge. A lever assembly having a single handle is connected to the stem and operates when rotated in a first direction to permit cold water flow through the valve body, and after being depressed can be rotated in an opposite second direction to permit hot water flow through the valve body. A torsion spring has a first post received in the elongated slot translatable between opposed ends of the elongated slot, and a second post received in a lever assembly aperture preventing second post translation. A biasing force of the torsion spring biases the lever assembly toward a valve closed position only when the lever assembly is rotated in the second direction. | 06-10-2010 |
20110073194 | SELF CLEANING VALVE ASSEMBLY - A self cleaning valve assembly includes a valve body having an internal valve cavity. A cylinder member received in the valve cavity has a first sealing surface and a cylinder wall, and divides the valve cavity into a liquid-free cavity portion and a flow cavity portion. A spindle includes a spindle body contacting the first sealing surface to continuously prevent pressurized fluid in the flow cavity portion from entering the liquid-free cavity portion. A spindle piston end has a wiper member in a receiving groove frictionally contacting the cylinder wall. A handle pinned to the valve assembly directly contacts the piston end. Handle rotation displaces the spindle from a valve closed to a valve open position permitting pressurized fluid flow into the flow cavity portion. The wiper member wipes a contaminant off the cylinder wall and further prevents contaminant entrance into the liquid-free cavity portion. | 03-31-2011 |
