20110101236Compact Isocentric Gantry - A gantry for administering proton beam therapy with improvements which reduce the size, weight, costs and radiation beam loss associated with proton beam therapy systems currently commercially available. The gantry utilizes achromatic superconducting multi-function electromagnet systems wherein the magnets can include dipoles and quadrupoles. The achromatic properties of the rampable magnet systems allow for ease of transmission of the beam whose energy is rapidly changed through a large range of different energies without changing of the strength of the magnetic fields or dipole settings. The magnets may be made with either low or high temperature superconductors. The gantry design further integrates beam scanning but keeps the gantry isocentric. A much greater fraction of the beam can be transmitted through the gantry than with current art, thereby reducing radiation shielding requirements and the demand put on the accelerator to produce large quantities of proton beam.05-05-2011

Finally, the example method includes determining the likelihood of the event based on the comparison.06-02-2011

20090065064COMPRESSOR TIP GAP FLOW CONTROL USING PLASMA ACTUATORS - A plasma generator for delaying the onset of rotation stall by tip gap flow control in, for example, an axial flow compressor is disclosed. The tip gap flow control system includes a housing surrounding a rotor of blades and having an inner wall. At least one plasma generating device is coupled to the inner wall of the housing and circumscribes at least a portion of the rotor of blades. A power supply is electrically coupled to the plasma generating device such that when the power supply energizes the plasma generating device, the axial momentum of a fluid flow between the inner wall of the housing and the tips of the rotor of blades in increased in the direction of the fluid flow.03-12-2009

20090282829Gravity wheel - The Gravity Wheel is a system/cycle of weights that either accept or deny the force of gravity relevant to their position on the wheel itself. The forward motion of the wheel simultaneously is produced by the gravity while it dictates the constant production of energy due to the nature of the motion utilizing the concept of a shifting fulcrum.11-19-2009
20090283027Global gravitational horizon - The Global Gravitational Horizon (GGH) is a system of two concentric spheres, one affixed to the center of gravity, the other affixed to the aircraft, both in juxtaposition representing a reference so that a pilot can always know the exact flight attitude without having to rely on any complicated, vulnerable, and conventional flight attitude indicators. The GGH requires virtually no experience or training to understand, therefore will be extremely helpful to new and novice pilots as well as seasoned pilots who are desirous of having a constant real time reference to their position relating to the horizon/ground without having to worry about maintenance or failure.11-19-2009

20080203119Device for preventing creases and wrinkles - A plurality of devices for preventing creases and wrinkles in articles of clothing best suited for hanging onto the horizontal arm, or the side arms of a clothes hanger and in combination of the two, that connects to, and disconnects from the horizontal arm of the clothes hanger, and quickly and efficiently becomes two devices that connect to, and disconnect from the two side arms of the clothes hanger via a fitting adjustment in the center of the device. The plurality of devices can be reinstalled and used again on the horizontal arm as a single device without compromising the integrity of the functionality of the device. A plurality of fitting Adjustments occur at each end of the device producing a longer length than the horizontal arm of the clothes hanger, and thus allowing installation onto horizontal arms and side arms varying in length resulting from differently manufactured clothes hangers.08-28-2008

20090130722Thermally-tolerant pectin methylesterase - Enzymes accumulated in plant cell walls serve diverse physiological functions including metabolism, polysaccharide structure modification, and molecular communication in interactions with other organisms. Pectin methylesterases are economically important enzymes for their impact on quality and processing properties of fruit and vegetable food products. We have now purified TT-PME to homogeneity from sweet orange finisher pulp and determined the complete corresponding nucleic acid sequence. Purified TT-PME was observed by SDS-PAGE as two doublet bands with molecular masses of approximately 46,000 Da and 56,000 Da. Direct Edman sequencing from these proteins showed a common N-terminal peptide. De novo sequencing of eight TT-PME tryptic peptides determined by MALDI-TOF/TOF mass spectrometry provided additional internal sequences. TT-PME did not correspond to any previously reported 05-21-2009
