| 20090000815 | CONFORMAL SHIELDING EMPLOYING SEGMENT BUILDUP - In one embodiment, a meta-module having circuitry for two or more modules is formed on a substrate, which is preferably a laminated substrate. The circuitry for the different modules is initially formed on the single meta-module. Each module will have one or more component areas in which the circuitry is formed. A metallic structure is formed on or in the substrate for each component area to be shielded. A single body, such as an overmold body, is then formed over all of the modules on the meta-module. At least a portion of the metallic structure for each component area to be shielded is then exposed through the body by a cutting, drilling, or like operation. Next, an electromagnetic shield material is applied to the exterior surface of the body of each of the component areas to be shielded and in contact with the exposed portion of the metallic structures. | 01-01-2009 |

The membranes can be extruded from polylactide polymers having a relatively high viscosity property, can be preshaped with relatively thick portions, and can be stored in sterile packages. | 11-17-2011 |
| 20120027835 | SURGICAL PROSTHESIS HAVING BIODEGRADABLE AND NONBIODEGRADABLE REGIONS - A prosthesis for repairing a hernia includes an adhesion-resistant biodegradable region and an opposing tissue-ingrowth biodegradable region. When the prosthesis is implanted into the patient, the adhesion-resistant biodegradable region covers a fascial defect of the hernia, and the tissue-ingrowth biodegradable region is located above the adhesion-resistant biodegradable region while being exposed substantially only to the hoses subcutaneous tissue layer. This orientation allows the tissue-ingrowth biodegradable region to become firmly incorporated with the host's body tissue. The adhesion-resistant biodegradable region faces the internal organs and decreases the incidence of adhesions and/or bowel obstruction. | 02-02-2012 |

| 20090286444 | Latent Elastic Composite Formed from a Multi-Layered Film - A nonwoven composite that exhibits latent elastic properties is provided. The composite is formed from a multi-layered, elastic film laminated to a nonwoven web facing. Latent elasticity is imparted to the composite through the use of at least one base layer that contains a thermoplastic elastomer and at least one skin layer that contains a propylene/α-olefin copolymer. During formation, the film is stretched in one or more directions to orient the elastomer chains. Without intending to be limited by theory, the present inventors believe that the oriented state of the chains may be held in place by the relatively stiff semi-crystalline domains of the propylene/α-olefin copolymer. The stretched elastic film may subsequently be relaxed and bonded to a nonwoven web facing to form the composite. The composite may be later activated (e.g., heated at or above the softening point of the copolymer) to soften the crystalline domains and allow the chains to return to their unoriented state. This causes the film to retract, which forms buckles in the nonwoven facing. In this manner, the resulting composite becomes elastic in that it has the ability to stretch and recover due to the “latent” buckle formation in the nonwoven facing. | 11-19-2009 |

One or more further implementations may include determining identity of pulses in association with a matching process performed as a function of the alignment, as well as, optionally, other pulse processing features/functionality. | 05-14-2009 |
| 20100118658 | ACOUSTIC LOCATION OF GUNSHOTS USING COMBINED ANGLE OF ARRIVAL AND TIME OF ARRIVAL MEASUREMENTS - A gunshot location system computes candidate gunshot locations from angle-of-arrival information and time-of-arrival information provided by acoustic sensors. In addition to an angle, each sensor calculates an angular uncertainty from impulses received at four or more microphones having rotational symmetry. An intersection of one or more time-of-arrival hyperbolas with one or more angle-of-arrival beams is used to determine a candidate gunshot location. In simple environments, a location can be confirmed with just two sensors allowing sensor density to be significantly reduced, while in complex environments including reflections, blocking, and interfering acoustic events, the additional angle-of-arrival information improves location accuracy and confidence, allowing elimination of candidate locations inconsistent with the combined time-of-arrival and angle-of-arrival information. | 05-13-2010 |
| 20100195445 | Systems And Methods With Improved Three-Dimensional Source Location Processing Including Constraint Of Location Solutions To A Two-Dimensional Plane - Systems and methods are disclosed associated with processing origin/location information of a source or event. Moreover, the method includes obtaining a plane of constraint characterized as a plane in which the source is likely to occur, providing one or more virtual sensing elements each characterized as being located on a first side of the plane of constraint in a mirror image/symmetrical position across from a corresponding actual sensing element on an opposite side of the plane, and constraining possible origin locations to be located in the plane of constraint. Other exemplary implementations may include determining the origin location as a function of positions of the sensing elements and the virtual sensing elements as well as time-of-arrival and/or angle-of-arrival information. | 08-05-2010 |
