INTERCONNECTION ASSEMBLY FOR PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS - A backplane has through holes for conductors to project through the backplane in arrays corresponding to respective circuit boards arranged along the front side of the backplane. The through holes include ground holes for receiving ground conductors in connection with a ground plane, and signal holes for receiving signal conductors free of connections with the ground plane. In accordance with a principal feature, the backplane is free of circuitry configured to interconnect signal conductors in the signal holes. This avoids problems associated with circuit density within the structure of a backplane. In accordance with another principal feature, each signal hole is wide enough to provide clearance for a respective signal conductor to extend fully through the signal hole free of contact with the backplane. The clearance contains air that serves as a dielectric to increase the impedance between adjacent signal holes, and thereby to reduce crosstalk and other problems associated with close proximity between signal holes. Additional through holes provide additional impedance at locations between adjacent conductor through holes. Such additional through holes for impedance control can be included in the circuit boards as well as the backplane. | 08-13-2009

Noise Abatement Engine Cover - An engine cover and method of making the same with a textured surface with an in-mold coating. A noise abatement cover for top of an engine has a textured, in-mold coated, high quality outer appearance with a core of medium density polyurethane. The method of making the cover includes applying a mold release to grained aluminum tool and applying coating to at least one side of the grained aluminum tool to form an in-mold coating on the resulting engine cover, which is preferably a single piece. | 06-23-2011

Oscillating ink form roller - The present invention is an adjustable oscillating ink form or roller that moves freely back and forth along its axis of rotation to create a more efficient inking of the printing plate of a high-speed web printing press by allowing for a more even distribution of ink onto the printing plate in a more consistent manner. The back and forth oscillation is especially useful in preventing image “ghosting” that forms on the printed page when the ink thickness diminishes. | 04-23-2009

LASER-DRIVEN DEFLECTION ARRANGEMENTS AND METHODS INVOLVING CHARGED PARTICLE BEAMS - Systems, methods, devices and apparatus are implemented for producing controllable charged particle beams. In one implementation, an apparatus provides a deflection force to a charged particle beam. A source produces an electromagnetic wave. A structure, that is substantially transparent to the electromagnetic wave, includes a physical structure having a repeating pattern with a period L and a tilted angle α, relative to a direction of travel of the charged particle beam, the pattern affects the force of the electromagnetic wave upon the charged particle beam. A direction device introduces the electromagnetic wave to the structure to provide a phase-synchronous deflection force to the charged particle beam. | 12-24-2009
INFRARED FREQUENCY COMB METHODS, ARRANGEMENTS AND APPLICATIONS - Certain embodiments relate to and involve producing broadband phase-locked frequency combs in the near-infrared and mid-infrared spectral ranges. One such embodiment is directed to a system, with a pump laser and an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) resonator, that is configured to produce broad-bandwidth frequency combs in the near-infrared and mid-infrared frequency ranges. The pump laser is configured to produce femtosecond pulses of light having a pulse repetition rate. The optical parametric oscillator (OPO) resonator that is coupled to the pump laser for facilitating synchronous OPO pumping by matching a roundtrip time of the pulses of light within the OPO resonator with the pulse repetition rate of the pump laser. Among other more specific aspects, the OPO resonator can include a nonlinear optical gain element to provide broad-bandwidth parametric amplification, and optical elements to direct the pulses of light from the femtosecond laser to the nonlinear gain element and to direct subharmonic frequencies of the light out of the optical cavity. | 03-10-2011

Automatically Selected Adjusters - Automatically selected adjusters are described, including selecting an area of an image, determining a characteristic of the area, and selecting an adjuster of a set of adjusters based on the characteristic of the area. | 07-28-2011
PRINTER WITH ANONYMOUS PRINTER REGISTRATION IN A CLOUD-BASED PRINT SERVICE - A printer may include a registration requester configured to receive an initiation request from a user to initiate a registration of the printer, and further configured to send a registration request to a cloud print service over a network. The printer may include a claim facilitator configured to receive a registration response from the cloud print service over the network, the registration response including a claim code, and further configured to provide, using printer functionality, the claim code to the user. The printer also may include an authentication manager configured to request an authentication credential issued by the cloud print service in response to a matching of the printer with a user account of the user within the cloud print service, the matching based on a receipt of the claim code from the user at the cloud print service, and further configured to receive and store the authentication credential at the printer. | 09-29-2011

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING CALL CORRELATION ACROSS NETWORK ELEMENTS - Method and apparatus for performing call correlation across network elements are disclosed. For example, the method receives by a first correlation engine one or more Call Detail Records (CDRs) from one or more network elements at a completion of a call wherein each of said one or more CDRs contains a correlation identification and a service identification. The method identifies a list of expected CDRs for said call and determines whether all of said expected CDRs for said call are received. The method then creates a CDR set for the call. | 05-14-2009
