20100290651PULSE STIMULATION GENERATION METHOD - A method of generating stimulation pulses for application by an auditory prosthesis. The method comprises: processing an audio input to obtain time shifted frequency data in which frequency data of one or more frequencies is temporally shifted relative to one or more other frequencies, the time shifted frequency data of each frequency representing the variation in energy at the frequency over time, and generating stimulation pulses to be applied by the auditory prosthesis from the time shifted frequency data.11-18-2010

20120095524METHOD OF COUNTERACTING SEIZURES - The present invention provides a method for counteracting seizure events in a mammalian brain, the method comprising applying an electrical stimulus to the brain, the electrical stimulus being pulsatile and comprising pulses forming a pulse train. In order to effectively “desynchronize” the neural activity patterns in the brain, the pulse train can be at a frequency greater than substantially 300 Hz and at a duty cycle greater than substantially 20%, the pulse train can have an inconstant inter pulse interval such that the pulse rate is not constant throughout the pulse train, and the pulses can have a pulse width greater than substantially 300 μsec. Apparatus for carrying out the method is also described.04-19-2012

20090007892Liquid fuel system with anti-drainback valve and engine using same - An engine with a high pressure common rail fuel system includes a bleed line to tank to facilitate evacuation of air and vapor from the fuel lines to assist in priming the fuel system. An anti-drainback valve prevents fuel vapor from migrating in a reverse direction through the bleed line toward the fuel pump during long periods of engine shut down. The inclusion of the anti-drainback valves helps facilitate short cranking times on the order of three seconds or less during engine start up, even after prolonged periods of engine shut down.01-08-2009

20110232270FUEL SYSTEM HAVING MULTI-FUNCTIONAL ELECTRIC PUMP - A pump for a fuel system is provided. The pump may have a pumping mechanism and an electric motor connected to drive the pumping mechanism. The pump may also have a low-pressure inlet passage in fluid communication with the pumping mechanism, a pressurized inlet passage in fluid communication with the pumping mechanism, a first outlet passage in fluid communication with the pumping mechanism, and a second outlet passage. The pump may further have a valve movable from a first position at which the second outlet passage is blocked from the pumping mechanism, to a second position at which the second outlet passage is in fluid communication with the pumping mechanism.09-29-2011

20100139619Fuel delivery system having multi-output pump - A fuel delivery system for a combustion engine is provided. The fuel delivery system includes an exhaust treatment device, a fuel injection unit, a fuel supply, and a fuel pump. The fuel pump includes at least one inlet configured to receive fuel from the fuel supply. A first fixed-output pumping element is configured to generate a first fuel flow at a first pressure and a first flow rate. A second fixed-output pumping element is configured to generate a second fuel flow at a second pressure and a second flow rate. At least one of the second pressure and the second flow rate is different from the first pressure and the first flow rate. A first outlet is configured to direct the first fuel flow to the fuel injection unit. A second outlet is configured to direct the second fuel flow to the exhaust treatment device.06-10-2010
20100154752Fuel delivery system having electric pump - A fuel delivery system is provided for a combustion engine having an exhaust treatment device. The fuel delivery system includes a fuel supply, an injector configured to pressurize fuel and inject the pressurized fuel into the combustion engine, and a transfer pump configured to direct fuel from the fuel supply to the injector. The fuel delivery system also includes an electric pump configured to selectively direct fuel from the fuel supply to the injector during a priming event, and to selectively direct fuel from the fuel supply to the exhaust treatment device.06-24-2010
20110048384BEARING ARRANGEMENT FOR A PUMP - A fluid pump is disclosed. The fluid pump may comprise a housing, a tapered bearing, a drive shaft, a first fluid chamber, and a second fluid chamber. The housing defines a bore. The tapered bearing is received within the bore of the housing. The drive shaft is received within the tapered bearing. The first fluid chamber is defined between the housing and the drive shaft on a first side of the tapered bearing. The second fluid chamber is defined between the housing and the drive shaft on a second side of the tapered bearing. The second fluid chamber is separated from the first fluid chamber by the tapered bearing. The housing includes a fluid passage fluidly coupling the first fluid chamber and the second fluid chamber.03-03-2011
