20100012876Adapter for gas fireplace valves - An adapter for gas valves used for fireplaces and barbecues. The adapter bridges a distance between the gas valve and a finishing flange used to cover a hole in a floor or wall within which the gas valve T-junction is recessed. The adapter includes an inner length with female threading adapted to mate with the male threading on a valve control leg of the gas valve T-junction, and an outer length with male threading adapted to mate with the female threading on the finishing flange. The threading on the gas valve T-junction, adapter, and finishing flange is all parallel enabling maximum axial adjustment therebetween, and eliminating the need for expensive plumbing work to couple pipe elements with tapered threading therebetween. Multiple adapters may be coupled together to bridge longer distances. A gas key having an adjustable length couples with the adapter to provide fine length adjustment. The adapter may be a machined metal tube or a molded plastic element. Methods of retrofitting gas valves are disclosed for adapting the gas valve to the modification of the wall or floor thickness. Typically, a wall is added which recesses the gas valve farther than can be reached by standard finishing flanges, necessitating a retrofit with the adapter.01-21-2010

20090236737RF TRANSISTOR OUTPUT IMPEDANCE TECHNIQUE FOR IMPROVED EFFICIENCY, OUTPUT POWER, AND BANDWIDTH - An RF/microwave circuit is configured to eliminate the physical constraint that requires a sacrifice of one output series inductor wirebond for each shunt inductor wirebond. The circuit employs a multi-level metalized substrate as part of its output impedance matching network. The lower level of the multi-level substrate serves as an intermediate connection point for the output series inductor wirebonds as it extends from the output terminal of an active device to an output metallization pad. The upper level of the multi-level substrate serves to support a DC block capacitor and as an intermediate connection point for the shunt inductor wirebonds. The multi-level substrate allows the series inductor wirebonds to be positioned at a lower height, and the shunt inductor wirebonds at a greater height. Because they are at different heights, the physical constraint of sacrificing a series wirebond per a shunt inductor wirebond can be eliminated. This leads to improved power efficiency, higher gain, and greater bandwidth.09-24-2009

20080200910Replaceable and/or Easily Removable Needle Systems for Dermal and Transdermal Cryogenic Remodeling - The present invention generally provides improved medical devices, systems, and methods. Embodiments may be particularly well suited for the treatment of dermatological and/or cosmetic defects, and alternative embodiments may be configured for treatment of a wide range of target tissues. Some embodiments of the present invention apply cooling with at least one small, tissue-penetrating probe, the probe often comprising a needle having a size suitable for inserting through an exposed surface of the skin of a patient without leaving a visible scar. The cooling may remodel one or more target tissue so as to effect a desired change in a composition of the target tissue and/or a change in its behavior. Exemplary embodiments make use of replaceable needle probes supported by a probe body handle, with small needle probes often being replaced during treatment of a single patient. Unlike the large format cryogenic cooling systems of the past, small cryogenic cooling needle probes may dull or be damaged by insertion. Careful control over the control of cryogenic cooling fluid into a needle probe can allow the length of the active cooling to be controlled through depletion of liquid from an evaporating cryogenic cooling flow. Hence, even needles having similar external structures may provide differing lengths of an iceball along the needle axis. Surprisingly, small cryogenic cooling needles and/or other cryogenic cooling probes having a lubricious coating will allow safe removal of the probe from the treatment region while at a least a portion of the tissue remains frozen, significantly decreasing the overall time for a procedure involving many insertion/freeze/removal cycles.08-21-2008
20090248001Pain management using cryogenic remodeling - Medical devices, systems, and methods for pain management and other applications may apply cooling with at least one probe inserted through an exposed skin surface of skin. The cooling may remodel one or more target tissues so as to effect a desired change in composition of the target tissue and/or a change in its behavior, often to interfere with transmission of pain signals along sensory nerves. Alternative embodiments may interfere with the function of motor nerves, the function of contractile muscles, and/or some other tissue included in the contractile function chain so as to inhibit muscle contraction and thereby alleviate associated pain. In some embodiments, other sources of pain such as components of the spine (optionally including herniated disks) may be treated.10-01-2009

20100106708Eliminating unnecessary statistics collections for query optimization - A method and system for eliminating unnecessary statistics collections for query optimization in a database stored on a computer. Statistics are unnecessary when a re-generated query execution plan that does not use the statistics is equivalent to an original query execution plan that uses the statistics. To determine this, an original query execution plan is created for each query in a specified workload using the statistics in the database. A search is performed of the statistics in order to enumerate one or more candidate sets of statistics to be eliminated. One or more of the candidate sets of statistics are removed from consideration prior to creating the re-generated query execution plan for each query in the specified workload. The re-generated query execution plan, which was created with one or more of the candidate sets of statistics removed from consideration, is compared with the original query execution plan, which was created using the statistics, in order to determine whether the re-generated query execution plan and the original query execution plan are equivalent. The one or more of the candidate sets of statistics removed from consideration are identified as unnecessary when the re-generated query execution plan and the original query execution plan are equivalent.04-29-2010
