20100014873Adaptive non-linearity compensation in coherent receiver - The invention relates to optical communication, in particular to compensation of non-linear distortions incurred in high bit-rate optical communication systems. A method and system for compensating self-phase modulation at an optical receiver of an optical transmission system using polarization division multiplexing and a modulation scheme with constant amplitude is proposed. The method comprises the step of performing a phase modulation on a received signal, wherein the received signal comprises two signal components associated with two orthogonal polarizations, each component comprising an in-phase sub-component and a quadrature-phase sub-component, thereby spanning a four-dimensional space. The phase modulation is determined by evaluating an error signal which depends on the distance in the four-dimensional space between the received signal after the phase modulation and a four-dimensional sphere defined by target constellation points of the optical transmission system.01-21-2010

20090115297Device for installing and removing high insertion force modules - The present invention provides for electronic module insertion and removal such as when high insertion/extraction forces are exerted in small spaces. To secure or unsecure the module a frame is mounted to a cabinet housing the high insertion module. The frame includes a lever assembly that fixedly rotates about an axle attached at each end to a hub. The hub is allowed to rotate to one or more fixed angular positions that move the lever proximity relative to the front surface of the high insertion module. Applying a pressure to the lever rotates the lever until the module is either secured or unsecured from its cabinet.05-07-2009

20080279651Captive Fastener with Unique Engaging and Locking Mechanism - A captive fastener generally comprising a receptacle, a bayonet assembly, and a locking assembly for locking the bayonet assembly to the receptacle. The receptacle extends along a longitudinal axis and includes a pair of parallel extending spiral raceways formed in the inner surface of a central opening that extends therethrough, and a keyway formed adjacent its terminus. The bayonet assembly includes a pair of bayonets that are adapted to ride in the raceways and a key positioned at the end of a plunger and is adapted to engage the keyway thereby locking the bayonet assembly in the receptacle. The locking assembly includes the plunger that when manipulated by a tool either engages or disengages the key from the keyway.11-13-2008
20090309800LINEAR MOTOR POWERED LIFT ACTUATOR - A lift actuator for supporting a radar antenna array and for selectively moving the antenna array between a retracted position and an erected operational position, said actuator includes a first linear induction driver movable along a first member and a second linear induction driver movable along a second member. The first and second members each have a distal and a proximal ends. The second member is pivotably connected at said proximal end to the first driver. A third rigid member is connected to the second driver. The third member has a distal end adapted to pivotably connect to a radar antenna array. The radar antenna array is constrained in the direction of the first member.12-17-2009
20100151717CONNECTOR FOR USE IN HIGH VIBRATION ENVIRONMENT - A locking mechanism inhibits rotational movement of a nut of a first cable connector that is threadingly engaged with a mating second cable connector. The nut has at least one recess in its outer surface along an edge and is rotatably mounted on a fixed housing of the first cable connector. The mechanism includes a component adapted to removably surround at least a portion of the housing and includes at least one first element matingly engageable with a corresponding second element positioned on the housing. A projection is rigidly mounted on the component. The projection is adapted to engage the at least one recess of the nut when the component is engaged with the outer surface of the housing.06-17-2010

20100233783NOVEL METHOD FOR PROTEIN PURIFICATION - Process for purifying a recombinant protein including one or a few procedural steps only. The process combines the step of lysis of the host cell, with the purification of the protein of interest, allowing for a rapid and much more efficient process of purification. The conditions used during the purification process are those of a high temperature and a low pH, allowing for thermostable and acid-resistant recombinant proteins to be isolated from a suspension. The invention also relates to purifying recombinant proteins which are fusion proteins, wherein one part of the protein may be selected from an enamel matrix protein, such as amelogenin.09-16-2010
20110053225MULTIFUNCTIONAL TAGS - The present invention relates to multifunctional protein production tags comprising at least 4, preferably 4-8 amino acids, for optimising expression of proteins and purification thereof by various multi-step processes including chromatographic or filtration, as well as batch unit operations. The tags include sequences of multiple defined purposes which are not generated in defined linear sequence regions related to one purpose but as integrated sequences often overlapping each other, i.e. the defined purposes are not discrete separate units on the tag but rather heterogeneously distributed in the tag. The invention also relates to an expression vector encoding the multipurpose tag and a method for protein purification, comprising expressing a protein in the expression vector and purifying the protein in several steps using functionalities of the multipurpose tag.03-03-2011
