20080250627FASTENING TWO COPLANAR EDGES WITHOUT A WELD - A method and apparatus for fastening two substantially coplanar edges without a weld is disclosed. The method includes: configuring a dovetail feature on a first edge; configuring a complementary dovetail feature receptacle on a second edge to receive the dovetail feature therein; disposing the dovetail feature within the complementary dovetail receptacle; and swaging an interface defined between the dovetail feature in said first edge and said complementary dovetail feature in the second edge to swage mating edges defining the dovetail feature and the dovetail receptacle at least six swage contact points. In one embodiment the swaging is with a hollow circle punch.10-16-2008
20090026898Enhanced Computer Rack Having An Integrated Lift Rail And/Or Tool Design - An enhanced computer rack having sides is provided. The rack is used for housing electronic components and comprises in one embodiment of a lift rail having a plurality of multipurpose frame members capable of being engageably connected to at least one of the rack sides such that the frame members can be retracted into or extended out from the rack. In an alternate embodiment, a lift tool is provided for hoisting object into the rack. The lift tool is connected to at least one side of the rack and is capable of being retracted inside or being extended out from the rack. The two embodiments can also be combined to provide an enhanced rack with an integrated lift rails and lift tool design.01-29-2009
20090040692Ruggedized Mounting Assembly And Method For Stabilizing One Or More Computer Racks - A ruggedized mounting assembly or bracket and incorporated method and is provided to enhance structural rigidity of a computer environment and provide stability to it during sudden shifts and vibrations. The assembly comprises two intersecting planes. One plane will be disposed on the computer rack at an upper surface while the other plane is to be secured to a surrounding surface such as a ceiling.02-12-2009
20090086419Split- and Collapsible-Top Hat Frame Height Reduction Features - An enhanced computer assembly and related method is provided that enables easy shipment and installation of such computing systems. In one embodiment a split top hat design is provided that can be removed. The removable split hat comprises a receiving member and an inner member that are secured to the frame in a manner that can be easily removed. In an alternate embodiment, a collapsible top hat is provided which adjusts the height of the assembly from a first to a second position. The collapsible feature has an upper portion that is connected to a plurality of pivoted side members that are capable of collapsing onto themselves.04-02-2009
20090091880Assembly And Method For Ruggedizing Computer Racks And/Or Electronic Cage Assemblies - A method and incorporated assembly for enhancing structural rigidity of a computer rack used for housing electronic components is provided. In one embodiment, the assembly comprises a casing made of a lighter weight material and having protrusions. The protrusions are formed to receive one or more ruggedized inserts that is made of a heavier and/or stiffer material. The casing and the inserts together can be then used as a ruggedized side of a computer rack or cage.04-09-2009
20090129905PORTABLE END-TO-END INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL SERVICE LIFT TOOL FOR RACK MOUNTED IT EQUIPMENT - A method and associated assembly is provided for installation and removal of electronic components on a computer rack. The assembly comprises a transport dolly with a platform and at least one caster and the Dolly is selectively sized to fit under or the computer rack. A Lift Tool is also provided and disposed over said Dolly. The Tool includes a lift platform capable for holding electronic components and a lift mechanism capable of moving from a first position to a second position such as to be capable of removing or disposing these components away or onto the rack. A plurality of Lift Rails are also provided that are storable between the Lift Tool and the Dolly. The Lift Rails can be used alone or assembled later into longer unitary units that attach to the rack and the Lift Tool in order to allow the Tool to transport the components from a first position to a second position along the rack.05-21-2009
20090139887High End Robust Computer Frame With Improved Load Balancing Design - A load balancing method and incorporated frame assembly is provided for a computer frame having side walls. The frame can have at least one reinforced side, and/or a top or bottom surface comprising of a skin base plate and a counterweight plate secured to one another by side stiffener plates. In an alternate embodiment, an integral extender can also be secured to a top portion of the frame. The extender has moveable sides and a hoist for raising and lowering components into and away from the frame.06-04-2009
20090140617Load Balancing Robust Computer Frame - A load balancing method and incorporated assembly is provided for a computer frame having side walls. The assembly comprises a mid-plane plate having top and bottom sides and capable of being secured to the frames inside side walls. The mid-plane plate also has means both on its top and bottom sides for securing a number of electronic books in such a manner that they can be stacked on top of or adjacent to one another. A locking mechanism can also be provided as part of the assembly or alone to further secure the electronic books to the frame.06-04-2009
20090218921Assembly and Method For Enhancing Structural Integrity and Improving Serviceability of Electronic Card Disposed In A Computing Environment - An assembly and method for securing and supporting electronic components in a computer node disposed on a computer rack. The method comprises the steps of first disposing a tray having one or more wedge block assemblies in the rear of said rack such that each wedge block assembly can be moved under and engaged with each node. The wedge block mechanism is retained from side to side using guide brackets. The mechanism and the tray are then torques into place by using incorporated hard stop feature on said tray. The nodes can then be engaged and disengaged through the engaging and disengaging of the wedge block assembly. This is done by using a rod that is connected to a fastener one end and to a pivot at another end and is integrated into the wedge block mechanism. Once the fastener is moved the pivot is also moved causing the mating and unmating of the node.09-03-2009
