20080218291System and method for a digitally tunable impedance matching network - The present disclosure relates generally to digitally tunable impedance matching networks. In one example, a digitally tunable impedance matching network is configured to produce an overall reactance value of approximately X, and includes multiple reactive components that are configured to produce a reactance value in the range of approximately zero to X with a minimum resolution of approximately X/209-11-2008
20120056677APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR A TUNABLE MULTI-MODE MULTI-BAND POWER AMPLIFIER MODULE - An apparatus and method amplify a signal for use in a wireless network. The apparatus includes a power amplifier, an envelope modulator, a tunable matching network (TMN), and a controller. The power amplifier outputs the signal at an output power. The envelope modulator controls a bias setting for the power amplifier. The TMN includes a plurality of immittance elements. The controller is operably connected the envelope modulator and the TMN. The controller identifies a desired value for the output power of the power amplifier, controls the output power of the power amplifier by modifying the bias setting of the power amplifier, and sets a number of the plurality of immittance elements based on the bias setting of the power amplifier.03-08-2012

20100029324Versatile system for multimode, wireless communication receiver with ZIF and near-ZIF operations - An architecture for a receiver component in a wireless communications system is disclosed—one that supports both zero intermediate frequency (ZIF) and near-zero intermediate frequency (NZIF) operation. The architecture provides a down-conversion segment, and a local oscillator segment operatively associated with the down-conversion segment. An analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) segment is adapted to receive signals from the down-conversion segment and introduce the signals into a digital intermediate frequency (DIF) construct. The DIF construct performs a DC offset compensation or DC residue filtering on NZIF-based signals, and droop or mismatch compensation. Image removal is performed on NZIF-based signals, and DC offset compensation is performed on ZIF-based signals. Compensated signals are amplified to some nominal or desired level, and interpolation filtering of the amplified signals is performed prior to transmission thereof.02-04-2010
20110065472Apparatus and method for an integrated multi-mode multi-band power amplifier - An apparatus and method for amplifying a transmission signals in multiple modes and multiple bands. The apparatus includes a tunable power amplifying module adapted to receive a plurality of signal types comprising multiple modes and multiple bands. The tunable power amplifying module includes a first and second power amplifier stages and a number of tunable matching networks configured to optimize an impedance value based on the mode and band of the signal to be amplified.03-17-2011
20110274017VERSATILE SYSTEM FOR TRANSCEIVER NOISE REDUCTION IN A TIME-DIVISION DUPLEXING WIRELESS NETWORK - A system for suppressing transmission channel noise in a signal transmission/reception device—particularly a time division duplex (TDD) wireless communications device—is provided. The system provides one or more shunt elements, instantiated at some point along the device's signal transmission channel. One or more attenuation elements are also instantiated at some point along the signal transmission channel, as are one or more disabling elements. A trigger signal indicates when the device is shifting from signal transmission operation (or mode) to signal reception operation. Responsive to assertion of the trigger signal, the shunt, attenuation and disabling elements are activated.11-10-2011

20090256630Method of power amplifier predistortion adaptation using compression detection - A method of power amplifier predistortion that makes use of a compression detector circuit in a feedback loop in order to adapt the channel gain for changing transmitter behavior. By monitoring the compression behavior of the amplifier, the signal is scaled to compensate for gain and compression point variations in the power amplifier and transmitter, while keeping a predistortion correction function constant.10-15-2009
20120076229METHOD AND SYSTEM OF MIMO AND BEAMFORMING TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER ARCHITECTURE - A multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) receiver includes a receive path circuitry configured to receive a first signal from a first antenna and a second signal from a second antenna, downconvert the first signal to a first frequency to generate a first intermediate frequency (IF) signal, downconvert the second signal to a second frequency different from the first frequency to generate a second IF signal, and combine the first IF signal and the second IF signal into a common signal.03-29-2012
