20080257966PACKAGING FOR A PORTABLE CONSUMER DEVICE - A portable consumer device having an information bearing region is packaged with an anti-tampering member. The region includes information pertaining to an account associated with a payment processing system. With a permanent alteration of the anti-tampering member so as to make the region accessible, a merchant's point of service terminal can interact with the region so as to change a state of the account.10-23-2008
20090198612NON-CREDIT ACCOUNT CREDIT RATING - A consumer's credit rating is derived from non-credit transactions on an account. Each transaction was a purchase by the consumer from a merchant using a pre-paid card. The derived consumer's credit rating can use a total of all of the transactions, totals for each merchant and/or for categories thereof. Here, the account is issued by an issuer to the consumer. Each merchant submits each non-credit transaction to an acquirer for processing by a transaction handler who requests the issuer to obtain payment for the transaction from the account. The issuer forwards the payment to the transaction handler who forwards the payment to the acquirer to pay the merchant for the purchase of the transaction. The derived credit rating can also consider prior credit ratings based upon prior credit transactions.08-06-2009
20110161185METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR LOADING AND RELOADING PORTABLE CONSUMER DEVICES - A method is disclosed. The method includes providing tender at a point of service terminal operated by a load agent, the point of service terminal being in operative communication with a payment processing network. The point of service terminal thereafter sends a transaction authorization request to an issuer of a portable consumer device to be used by a user. The issuer then authorizes or does not authorize the transaction authorization request. If the transaction authorization request is approved, the portable consumer device is either initially loaded or reloaded with an amount associated with the tender provided at the point of service terminal.06-30-2011

20110294487MANAGING SUBSCRIBERS ON A CELLULAR NETWORK - In embodiments of managing subscribers on a cellular network, a service provider tracks subscriber devices that are connected for voice communication via a network. The service provider can estimate an increased service load on the network by combining a number of the subscriber devices estimated to still be connected at an appointed time with a number of additional subscriber devices estimated to request connection at or within a predetermined range of the appointed time. The service provider can then cause a number of inactive subscriber devices to be disconnected for at least a predetermined period of time in anticipation of the increased service load.12-01-2011

20100214120Well test system - The well test system has a net oil computer NOC that captures and stores information from disparate well instrumentation devices, measures produced oil, water, and gas quantities based on the information and controls well processes based on the quantity measurements. The NOC includes operational software that collects instrumentation data from a plurality of wells. Configuration software downloads user programmable configuration information to the NOC, which enables the NOC to record data from a wide variety of flow devices, water test meters, or the like. User programmable alarms are included. A plurality of controllers can control processes associated with individual wells. A wireless communication system electronically sends data and test results to cell phones, radio devices, and the like. A daily test data log provides a historical database, which is analyzed to formulate “Data Confidence” information for each well. The net oil computer is operable with two-phase or three-phase separators.08-26-2010

20090056887PRIVACY SCREEN ENCLOSURE - The disclosure encompasses a privacy barrier (curtain) to be temporarily attached to a vehicle without requiring any substantial modification to the vehicle. This privacy barrier mounts to a vehicle and spans the gap formed between an open door and the body of the vehicle, or alternatively between a plurality of open doors. These can be side doors, or rear doors. The fasteners used to attach the curtain to the vehicle can be clips, magnets, suction cups, or similar devices that can be attached to, and removed from, the vehicle without any substantial modification to the vehicle. The disclosure may utilize fasteners having a non-marring surface or an intermediate, non-marring material between the fastener and the vehicle.03-05-2009

20090300156Methods And Systems For Managing Security In A Network - Methods, systems and computer readable mediums storing computer executable programs for managing security in a network are disclosed. A plurality of security policies associated with a plurality of network data anomalies are provided at a network management system. Each one of the plurality of security policies defines a network data anomaly specific mitigation response for each one of the plurality of network data anomalies. A first network data anomaly is detected at the network management system. A determination is made at the network management system regarding whether a first one of the plurality of security policies defines a first network data anomaly specific mitigation response to the first network data anomaly. A first mitigation command is issued from the network management system to at least one network system to implement the first network data anomaly specific mitigation response for a pre-defined period of time in accordance with the first security policy based on the determination.12-03-2009

20080222730Network service monitoring - Network devices, systems, and methods are described that perform network service monitoring. One method includes examining a number of packets received by a first network device to determine whether a protocol of a packet corresponds to a given network service, forwarding an event to a second network device in response to a determination that the protocol of the packet corresponds to the network service, determining whether the network service is an authorized service by comparing the network service to a list of network services, and executing a remedial action in response to a determination that the network service is an unauthorized service.09-11-2008
