20090217276METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MOVING THREADS IN A SHARED PROCESSOR PARTITIONING ENVIRONMENT - The present invention provides a computer implemented method and apparatus to assign software threads to a common virtual processor of a data processing system having multiple virtual processors. A data processing system detects cooperation between a first thread and a second thread with respect to a lock associated with a resource of the data processing system. Responsive to detecting cooperation, the data processing system assigns the first thread to the common virtual processor. The data processing system moves the second thread to the common virtual processor, whereby a sleep time associated with the lock experienced by the first thread and the second thread is reduced below a sleep time experienced prior to the detecting cooperation step.08-27-2009

20080235686Method and apparatus for improving thread posting efficiency in a multiprocessor data processing system - A computer implemented method, a data processing system, and computer usable program code for improving thread posting efficiency in a multiprocessor data processing system are provided. Aspects of the present invention first receive a set of threads from an application. The aspects of the present invention then group the set of threads with a plurality of processors based on a last execution of the set of threads on the plurality of processors to form a plurality of groups. The threads in each group in the plurality of groups are all last executed on a same processor. The aspects of the present invention then wake up the threads in the plurality of groups in any order.09-25-2008
20080271029Thread Scheduling with Weak Preemption Policy - Thread scheduling with a weak preemption policy is provided. The scheduler receives requests from newly ready work. The scheduler adds a “preempt value” to the current work's priority so that it is somewhat increased for preemption purposes. The preempt value can be adjusted in order to make it more, or less, difficult for newly ready work to preempt the current work. A “less strict” preemption policy allows current work to complete rather than interrupting the current work and resume it at a later time, thus saving system overhead. Newly ready work that is queued with a better priority than the current work is queued in a favorable position to be executed after the current work is completed but before other work that has been queued with the same priority of the current work.10-30-2008
20080294864MEMORY CLASS BASED HEAP PARTITIONING - The illustrative embodiments provide a computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable program code for managing a heap. The heap is partitioned into at least one sub heap based on a relationship to at least one memory class of a plurality of memory classes. A memory allocation request comprising a memory class is received from a requester. A unique heap handle based on the memory class and associated with a specific sub heap is generated. The unique heap handle is then returned to the requester.11-27-2008

20080258666Method of controlling a motorized window treatment - A method of controlling a motorized window treatment provides for continued operation of the motorized window treatment during an overload condition, a low-line condition, or an electrostatic discharge (ESD) event. The motorized window treatment is driven by an electronic drive unit having a motor, a motor drive circuit, a rotational position sensor, a controller, and a memory for storing the command. The controller stores the present position of the motorized window treatment in the memory each time the rotational position of the motor changes by a predetermined angle, such that a plurality of positions are stored in the memory. When the controller is reset due to an overload condition or ESD event, the controller recalls the desired position from the memory, determines the present position, and continues to drive the motor drive circuit in response to the command and the present position.10-23-2008
20080260363Method of Controlling a Motorized Window Treatment - A method of controlling a motorized window treatment provides for continued operation of the motorized window treatment during an overload or low-line condition. The motorized window treatment is driven by an electronic drive unit having a motor, a motor drive circuit, and a controller. The controller controls the motor drive circuit to drive the motor with a pulse-width modulated signal generated from a bus voltage. The controller is operable to monitor the magnitude of the bus voltage. If the bus voltage drops below a first voltage threshold, the controller stops the motor or reduces the duty cycle of the pulse-width modulated signal to allow the bus voltage to increase to an acceptable magnitude. When the bus voltage rises above a second voltage threshold, the controller begins driving the motor normally once again. During an overload or low-line condition, the controller is prevented from resetting, while driving the motor with minimal interruption to the movement of the motorized window treatment.10-23-2008

20100031444Leg elevating device, system and method - The present disclosure describes devices, methods, and systems for leg elevation. The leg elevating device includes a leg support platform, a base platform positioned adjacent the leg support platform, and a first and second lift positioned between and coupled to the leg support platform and the base platform. The leg support platform can have a first horizontal position relative the base platform when the first and second lift are in a first position, an angled position relative the base platform when the first lift is in a second position and the second lift is in the first position, and a second horizontal position relative the base platform when the first and second lift are in a second position. Also, the leg support platform can be a predetermined height above a floor surface when in the first horizontal position, such that the leg elevating device is locatable under furniture.02-11-2010
