LOW TEMPERATURE FUSION - Methods for low-temperature fusion are disclosed. In one embodiment, a symmetrical crystal lattice including a plurality of deuterons either absorbed or embedded in a heavy-electron material is selected. The method provides alternatives for initiating a vibration mode involving the deuterons on the crystal lattice that induces them to converge. The oscillating convergence of the deuterons is enhanced by the charge screening effect of electrons. The electron screening effect is in turn enhanced by the high effective-mass associated with the selected materials. The vibration modes are excited, for example, by applying an electrical stress, a uniform magnetic field, mechanical stress, non-uniform stress, acoustic waves, the de Haas van Alphen effect, electrical resistivity, infrared optical radiation, Raman scattering, or any combination thereof to the crystal lattice. | 05-14-2009

Cable diagnostics for base-T systems - An apparatus and method for cable diagnostics is disclosed for deployment as part of an Ethernet communication system to conduct diagnostics. The system transmits one or more pulses which are Ethernet compatible and of finite duration. Reflections are detected and through processing and measurement of the amplitude and round-trip delay of the pulse's reflection, cable faults are located. In one embodiment, this innovation uses an IEEE 802.3 compliant transmit pulse, such as an auto-negotiation signal (AN pulse), to conduct cable diagnostics. The benefits of a standard compliant allow for use with any vendor on the far-end and the signal requires no special hardware or software to produce and, therefore, reduces system complexity and cost. To reduce incorrect measurements, the apparatus measures cable length and termination with multiple AN pulses. It then applies non-linear filters to redundant measurements in such a way that it produces accurate cable diagnostics information. | 07-01-2010

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR TESTING CUSTOMER PREMISE EQUIPMENT DEVICES - A test system couples various ports of one or more CPE devices to components mounted in a rigid mounting system. The system can test the line card portion of the CPE devices coupled to line card interface equipment for various parameters. Variable RF attenuation in RF interface equipment can adjust power levels to/from the RF port of the CPE devices to account for close proximity and variations between different vendors and models, which are coupled via the RF interface equipment to an included CMTS. Network interface equipment tests network port performance of the CPE devices by coupling a general purpose computer thereto. Switching one of a plurality of CPE devices to be the only one tested at a time and switching an addition RENLOAD is controlled by a provisioning server based on criteria including information in a database of various parameters of the particular device being tested. | 11-12-2009

Heated fuel injector - A heated fuel injector includes a heated body, liquid fuel flowing through a fuel passage within the body, and a member that increases heat transfer from the heated body to the fuel within the fuel passage. The thermal efficiency of the fuel injector is increased separately or in combination by diverting the fuel flow along an inner circumferential contour of the heated body, by limiting the volume of fuel bypassing the heated inner surface of the body, by redirecting heat from the body to unheated portions of the fuel flow field within the fuel passage, and by increasing the available contact surface area for heat transfer. Improved heat transfer from the heated body to the fuel is achieved by integrating features that increase the contact surface area into the inside surface of the body or by positioning an insulating or a thermally conductive spacer within the fuel passage. | 12-03-2009

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR GENERATION AND UTILIZATION OF SALES LEADS - Methods and apparatus for generating and utilizing sales leads and related information. In one embodiment, an item information collection (IIC) server communicates with a plurality of client devices via a web server and/or an SMS server. The IIC server services requests for information regarding subject vehicles by forwarding information in the request to vehicle information sources. The resulting information is compiled and formatted for provision to the customer. The IIC server provides portions of the information to advertisers and related product/service providers according to one or more business rules. An operator of the IIC server may charge a premium to the advertisers and related product/service providers for the ability to present information and advertisements to the customer. Where the information includes customer contact information, the advertiser may optionally contact the customer directly. Business methods and rules for lead generation and utilization are also disclosed. | 09-15-2011
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR EFFICIENT DELIVERY OF AUCTION ITEM INFORMATION - Apparatus and methods for efficient delivery of a plurality of information regarding items for auction. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a server entity adapted to communicate with a plurality of information sources (such as sources having vehicle history information, estimated valuation information, etc.) The server entity compiles information received from the plurality of sources and formats the information for efficient delivery to a client device via e.g., SMS based text messaging, internet-based instant messaging, or the like. In another salient aspect of the invention, a client enters an auction identification number (AID) rather than a longer alpha-numeric VIN or other identification number. The server entity may also calculate and communicate estimates and/or alerts/reminders of when bidding will begin for particular items for auction which the client has expressed interest in. Exemplary client interface and business methods are also given. | 11-03-2011

Methods and apparatus for reducing storage usage in devices - Transmission buffer apparatus and methods configured to minimize the storage requirements for transmission/retransmission of data by allocating retransmission data to two or more types of storage. In one embodiment, RAM usage in a RAM-limited embedded device is minimized by storing only a reference or pointer to ROM- or Flash-sourced within the retransmission buffer (e.g., RAM), thereby reducing the storage burden on the buffer. For example, web pages having largely non-volatile components can be stored in ROM or Flash, while only the dynamic or volatile portions are stored in RAM. Apparatus and methods for implementing an exemplary serial-to-Ethernet interface are disclosed, as well as use of Flash or ROM to store configuration data in the form of e.g., a web page image. A circular buffer approach implementing the aforementioned methodologies is also described. | 10-16-2008

AIR VENT COVER FOR USE IN TESTING AIR LEAKAGE OF AN AIR DUCT SYSTEM - The present invention discloses an air vent cover for use in testing air leakage of an air duct system. The air vent cover includes a cover portion shaped to define a hollow cavity for enclosing an air vent. The air vent has a grill adjacent to a surface surrounding the air vent, and the grill has one or more louvers. The air vent cover includes a flexible connector extendable from the cover portion through the hollow cavity to the air vent. The flexible connector is removeably attachable to at least one of the louvers on the grill of the air vent. The flexible connector adjusts to secure an edge of the cover portion against a region of the surface surrounding the air vent, thereby creating a seal for inhibiting air flow through the air vent. | 10-13-2011
