20090213134TOUCH SCREEN AND GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE - A selective input system and associated method is provided which tracks the motion of a pointing device over a region or area. The pointing device can be a touchpad, a mouse, a pen, or any device capable of providing two or three-dimensional location. The region or area is preferably augmented with a printed or actual keyboard/pad. Alternatively, a representation of the location of the pointing device over a virtual keyboard/pad can be dynamically shown on an associated display. The system identifies selections of items or characters by detecting parameters of motion of the pointing device, such as length of motion, a change in direction, a change in velocity, and or a lack of motion at locations that correspond to features on the keyboard/pad. The input system is preferably coupled to a text disambiguation system such as a T9® or Sloppytype™ system, to improve the accuracy and usability of the input system.08-27-2009
20100122164CONTEXTUAL PREDICTION OF USER WORDS AND USER ACTIONS - The invention concerns user entry of information into a system with an input device. A scheme is provided in which an entire word that a user wants to enter is predicted after the user enters a specific symbol, such as a space character. If the user presses an ambiguous key thereafter, rather than accept the prediction, the selection list is reordered. For example, a user enters the phrase “Lets run to school. Better yet, lets drive to “.””” After the user presses the space, after first entering the second occurrence of the word “to,” the system predicts that the user is going to enter the word “school” based on the context in which the user has entered that word in the past. Should the user enter an ambiguous key after the space, then a word list which contains the word “school” is reordered and other options are made available to the user. The invention can also make predictions on context, such as the person to whom the message is sent, the person writing the message, the day of the week, the time of the week, etc. Other embodiments of the invention contemplate anticipation of user actions, as well as words, such as a user action in connection with menu items, or a user action in connection with form filling.05-13-2010

20090043995Handling Data Cache Misses Out-of-Order for Asynchronous Pipelines - An apparatus and method for handling data cache misses out-of-order for asynchronous pipelines are provided. The apparatus and method associates load tag (LTAG) identifiers with the load instructions and uses them to track the load instruction across multiple pipelines as an index into a load table data structure of a load target buffer. The load table is used to manage cache “hits” and “misses” and to aid in the recycling of data from the L2 cache. With cache misses, the LTAG indexed load table permits load data to recycle from the L2 cache in any order. When the load instruction issues and sees its corresponding entry in the load table marked as a “miss,” the effects of issuance of the load instruction are canceled and the load instruction is stored in the load table for future reissuing to the instruction pipeline when the required data is recycled.02-12-2009

20090094919System and Method for Floor Covering Installation - Connectors for joining adjacent modular floor covering units. The connectors include a film and an adhesive layer coated on one side of the film. To install tiles using the connectors, a first tile is placed on the floor and a connector is positioned so that the adhesive layer faces upward and does not contact the floor. The connector is typically positioned so that only a portion of the adhesive layer adheres to the underside of the tile, leaving the remainder of the connector extending from the underside of the tile. Tiles are then positioned adjacent the first tile so that a portion of the connector adheres to the adjacent tiles. In this way, the connectors span adjacent tile edges. The tiles are assembled on a underlying flooring surface without the need to attach them to the floor surface. Rather, the tiles are linked to each other with the connectors, so that the tiles create a floor covering that “floats” on the underlying floor surface.04-16-2009

A plurality of allocation rules and/or algorithms for resource types can be predetermined, and/or dynamically trained by the allocation service. The data employed for the industrial system includes sets of data from the “internal” data stream(s) (e.g., history data collected from an industrial unit) and sets of data from an “external” (e.g., traffic data on network services) data stream(s), based in part on the criticality/importance criteria assigned to each collection stage.04-02-2009
20090089359SUBSCRIPTION AND NOTIFICATION IN INDUSTRIAL SYSTEMS - Systems and methods that record information associated with proprietary processes in sufficient detail, to facilitate process optimization. A subscription and notification component enables tracking of various events, wherein each event can subscribe to a corresponding log (e.g., a diagnostic log, alarm log, and the like), and vice versa—to display desired items based on predetermined classifications. Moreover, access to both an internal data stream(s) and an external data stream(s) can be supplied via the subscription and notification component of the subject innovation.04-02-2009
20090089558ADJUSTMENT OF DATA COLLECTION RATE BASED ON ANOMALY DETECTION - Systems and methods that vary multiple data sampling rates, to collect sets of data with different levels of granularity for an industrial system. The data for such industrial system includes sets of data from the “internal” data stream(s) (e.g., history data collected from an industrial unit) and sets of data from an “external” (e.g., traffic data on network services) data stream(s), based in part on the criticality/importance criteria assigned to each collection stage. Each set of data can be assigned its own unique data collection rate. For example, a higher sample rate can be employed when collecting data from the network during an operation stage that is deemed more critical (e.g., dynamic attribution of predetermined importance factors) than the rest of the operation.04-02-2009
