20090037536Instant messaging voice mail - A method, system and computer usable medium are disclosed for delivering an electronic message. In various embodiments of the invention a first computer is used to receive voice data from a user and to generate a message data file therefrom. A test is then conducted to determine whether a predetermined second computer is operably coupled to the communication network. If the result of the test indicates that the second computer is not coupled to the communication network, the message data file is forwarded to a predetermined storage location in an electronic messaging system. In various embodiments of the invention, the message data file is subsequently retrieved from the predetermined storage location by the predetermined second computer. In embodiments of the invention, the message data file is processed to comprise text data or voice mail data prior to forwarding to the predetermined storage location in the electronic messaging system.02-05-2009
20090164622Monitoring Instant Messaging Usage - A method of monitoring instant messaging usage can include identifying an instant messaging session between a plurality of participants, selecting a participant in the instant messaging session, identifying at least one attribute of the instant messaging session, and identifying at least one attribute of the selected participant. The method further can include determining an instant messaging usage metric for the selected participant according to the at least one attribute of the instant messaging session and the at least one attribute of the selected participant and outputting the instant messaging usage metric of the selected participant.06-25-2009

20090125601Electronic Messaging Systems Having Time-Critical Messages - To encourage recipients of electronic messages to respond in a timely manner, certain messages can be designated as time-critical messages. Such messages are delivered with an allowable response time attribute. If the recipient responds to the message within the allowable response time, nothing happens. If the recipient fails to respond within the allowable response time, the functionality of the recipient's system is altered in a way that gives the recipient an incentive to respond. For example, the recipient's system may be inhibited from receiving any further messages until the recipient responds to the time-critical message. Embodiments are described for implementing time-critical messaging in e-mail, instant messaging and voicemail systems.05-14-2009

20110043367INTELLIGENT NOTIFICATION APPLIANCE CIRCUIT AND SYSTEM - An intelligent notification appliance circuit has a controller and one or more addressable notification appliances coupled with a single pair of wires. The controller outputs integrated power, audio and control signals, and transmits the integrated signals to the one or more addressable notification appliances. Thus, the one or more addressable notification appliances are powered, operated, controlled, and monitored using the intelligent notification appliance circuit. When the intelligent notification appliance circuit is implemented in a fire and/or mass notification system, that system is able to provide integrated audio signals, power signals and control signals over a single pair of wires. The integrated audio signals may carry data indicative of live or recorded music and/or voice messages, such as: mass notification messages, general page, voice evacuation, and the like.02-24-2011
