20100203195Process for Separating High Purity Germ and Bran from Corn - A semi-wet process for refining corn to make a feedstock for ethanol production. Corn is tempered at a moisture content from about 20-25% by weight for a very short time followed by grinding. The ground corn is not dried and cooled before further processing. It is graded and then ground and sifted to make an endosperm fraction and a high purity fraction of germ and bran. The fraction of germ and bran can be separated in a one or two stage dry separation process or in a wet separation process. In the wet separation process, the fraction of germ and bran is enzymatically steeped, dewatered and then separated in hydrocyclones to produce a germ fraction and a bran fraction.08-12-2010

20090091853APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR INTERCHANGE TESTING - An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for interchanging testing. A test module moves a first tape from a tape pool to a first reserved slot of plurality of reserved slots using an accessor. In an embodiment, there is one (1) reserved slot corresponding to each of a plurality of tape drives. Each reserved slot is configured to store one tape for the corresponding tape drive. No other tape drive accesses the stored tape from the reserved slot. Additionally, the test module loads the first tape to a first tape drive from the first reserved slot using the accessor, reads to end of at least two file marks on the first tape using the first tape drive, rewinds to a beginning of the first tape using the first tape drive, spaces forward on the first tape to a beginning of a second of the at least two file marks using the first tape drive, writes specified data to the first tape using the first tape drive, writes a new second file mark to the first tape using the first tape drive, and moves the first tape to the first reserved slot using the accessor.04-09-2009
20100039731APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR OVERCOMING STICTION IN A MAGNETIC TAPE DEVICE - Various embodiments of an apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for reducing stiction in a magnetic tape device. For example, according to one representative embodiment, a magnetic head assembly for reducing stiction includes a magnetic head that is communicable in data exchange communication with tape in contact with the magnetic head. The magnetic head assembly also includes a tape lifter that is movable relative to the magnetic head. More specifically, the tape lifter is movable between a first position away from the tape and a second position in contact with the tape. In the first position, tape is contactable with the magnetic head and in the second position, tape is not contactable with the magnetic head. The magnetic head assembly further includes an actuator made at least partially of a memory shape alloy. The actuator is coupled to the tape lifter and the memory shape alloy is resiliently deformable to move the tape lifter between the first and second positions.02-18-2010

20090193140SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR THROTTLING HOST THROUGHPUT - A method for throttling host throughput in a computer storage subsystem is provided. The host throughput is compared to a throughput limit for a predetermined time period. If the host throughput exceeds the throughput limit during the predetermined time period, an input/output (I/O) delay is set equal to the remainder of the predetermined time period, and the delay is implemented for an associated storage device of the computer storage subsystem.07-30-2009
20090327469Method for Controlling Host Throughput to a Computer Storage Subsystem - A method for controlling the throughput in a communications channel between a host and its storage subsystem is disclosed. A determination is made whether or not a total throughput value is greater than a predetermined maximum throughput value. If the total throughput value is greater than the predetermined maximum throughput value, a delay is applied to the communications channel. If the total throughput value is not greater than the predetermined maximum throughput value, another determination is made whether or not one time period has completed. If one time period has completed, a total throughput value and an exponential moving average (EMA) throughput value of the communications channel is retrieved, a new EMA throughput value is generated based on the total throughput value and the EMA throughput value, and adjusting the total throughput value based on whether or not the new throughput value is greater than a predetermined maximum throughput value.12-31-2009
