20090066090Wind turbine based energy storage system and method using heavy weighted devices - An energy storage system, and related method, comprises a plurality of wind turbines, each with a vertical shaft that passes through a support platform. One or more braces may be affixed to each vertical shaft at one end of this platform, at an angle of less than 60 degrees, preferably about 45 degrees. At least one heavily weighted device is configured and disposed to be raised with rotation of the wind turbine about its vertical shaft. The subsequent lowering of that weighted device generates electrical energies for immediate use. Alternatively, the weighted device may be suspended for storage of energy and subsequent use. Preferred embodiments include at least one energy storage system for holding excess unused energy. Representative devices include a weighted cylinder on a shaft or cable, and one or more railcars on a series of inclined tracks.03-12-2009

20090090573Hybrid electric vehicle and towable trailer that uses renewable solid fuel - A hybrid electric vehicle having an array of batteries that recharge with a generator connected to a Stirling engine, steam engine and/or steam turbine powered by combusting a solid fuel product. The battery array for this vehicle, which is a series hybrid, can be recharged using residential electrical current. A preferred solid fuel product for burning in the generator-charging engine of this vehicle is selected from cellulose, lignin and combinations thereof, most preferably in the form of pellets or small logs.04-09-2009

20080217924Gravity-flap, savonius-type wind turbine device - A wind turbine devices comprises a vertically rotating shaft; and a plurality of horizontally disposed, box-shaped wind catchment vanes connected about the shaft, each vane having an open front face to catch wind flow and a lightweight flap on their rear face that closes when acted upon by wind force to rotate the vane about the shaft. When the latter flap opens, wind spills through the vane thus increasing efficiency.09-11-2008

20110004046BLOOD PUMP WITH EXPANDABLE CANNULA - A blood pump includes an impeller having a plurality of foldable blades and a cannula having a proximal portion with a fixed diameter, and a distal portion with an expandable diameter. The impeller can reside in the expandable portion of the cannula. The cannula has a collapsed condition for percutaneous delivery to a desired location within the body, and an expanded condition in which the impeller can rotate to pump blood. A flexible drive shaft can extend through the cannula for rotationally driving the impeller within the patient's body.01-06-2011

20100095492BONDING CLIP - A bonding clip formed of a metal and having unitary or multi-part construction is used to electronically bond together wires of adjacent wire mesh cable trays. The bonding clip binds the wire mesh cable trays by penetrating the protective coating one the wire mesh cable trays with teeth-like projections in order to permit conductive contact between the wires. The bonding clip has a profile that permits maintenance of the cross-sectional area formed by the wires of the wire mesh cable trays.04-22-2010

20100126900EGC COMPLIANT WIRE MESH CABLE TRAY SYSTEM - A component for bends and elevation offsets modifications to a wire mesh cable tray system that maintains the cross-sectional area and conductivity of the original wire mesh cable tray before the bends and elevation offsets modifications is presented. By maintaining the cross-section area, equipment-ground conductor compliance is preserved. The component can be easily and quickly modified as needed while maintaining the cross-sectional area of the wire mesh cable tray system. The component can be modified and installed either by the manufacturer or in the field by a technician.05-27-2010

20120000290INSPECTION VEHICLE FOR A TURBINE DISK - An inspection vehicle structured to inspect a portion of the turbine disk, preferably the blade attachment hubs, while the turbine disk is disposed within a turbine housing assembly is provided. A turbine disk is generally planar but includes a inner hub and an outer blade attachment hub. The inner hub is coupled to a shaft and the blade attachment hub provides a surface to which removable blades are attached. The area between the inner hub and outer blade attachment hub is substantially planar. The inner and blade attachment hubs are the “inspection areas” that the inspection vehicle is structured to inspect. The inspection vehicle travels over, and is magnetically coupled to, the planar surface between the two hubs.01-05-2012
