20110138907MULTI-LEVEL LIQUID LEVEL MAGNETIC SENSOR - A liquid level sensor employs a set of axially displaced magnetic sensing switches and a magnet on a float that may rise and fall on liquid level to activate and deactivate the switches. The switches and magnet are configured so that movement of the magnetic float activates a new switch before deactivation of an adjacent previously activated switch. An electronic circuit provides a signal based on the uppermost activated switch to provide a signal that is monotonic with liquid level. The design may be readily implemented using reed switches and a resistive ladder.06-16-2011

20080214376TAMPER-INDICATING RESEALABLE CLOSURE - A tamper indicating, resealable closure for a package includes first and second film layers releasably adhesively joined together such that the first and second film layers are at least partially separable when the second film layer is pulled away from the first film layer. The first film layer includes first and second tear lines formed thereon to define first and second panel sections respectively. The first panel section defines an access opening through the first film layer when it is separated along the first tear line during an initial separation of the first and second film layers. The second panel section also becomes separated from the first film layer when the second film layer is separated from the first film layer to provide an indication of an initial opening of the closure. Subsequently, the second film layer may be re-adhered to the first film layer to reseal the access opening, while the second panel section remains separated from the first film layer.09-04-2008

20080309033ROOFING CART - A ridge roofing cart can be made using mounting brackets for receiving an elongated support platform. Each bracket includes spaced plates for receiving an axle between the plates on each side thereof and an aperture for receiving an axle pivot pin at one position on the bracket. Each bracket has a plurality of apertures spaced from the pivot aperture for setting the angular position of the axle on each side of the bracket in relationship to the support platform corresponding to standard roof pitch angles. The brackets can be mounted at opposite ends of a support platform to define a cart in which the axles rotatable hold wheels which span the ridge of a roof.12-18-2008

20100021162WAVELENGTH DIVISION MULTIPLEXED OPTICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM HAVING A RECONFIGURABLE OPTICAL SWITCH AND A TUNABLE BACKUP LASER TRANSMITTER - In a WDM optical communication system that includes a plurality of nodes interconnected by communication links, a node is provided that includes a reconfigurable optical switch having a plurality of input ports and at least one output port. The node also includes a plurality of transmitters that are each coupled to one of the input ports of the optical switch. Each of the transmitters generate an information-bearing optical signal at a different channel wavelength from one another. The reconfigurable optical switch is adaptable to receive at any of the input ports any of the channel wavelengths at which the plurality of transmitters operate and direct the channel wavelengths to the output port. At least one backup transmitter is coupled to one of the input ports of the optical switch. The backup transmitter includes a tunable laser tunable to any of the channel wavelengths at which the plurality of transmitters operate. The reconfigurable optical switch includes at least one wavelength selective element that selects at least one channel wavelength from among any of the channel wavelengths received at any of the input ports. The switch also includes a plurality of optical elements associated with the wavelength selective elements, Each of the optical elements direct one of the selected channel wavelengths selected by the associated wavelength selective element to the output port independently from every other channel wavelength. The selected channel wavelengths directed to the output port are combined on the output port.01-28-2010
20100098406METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INTERCONNECTING A PLURALITY OF OPTICAL TRANSDUCERS WITH A WAVELENGTH DIVISION MULTIPLEXED OPTICAL SWITCH - In a WDM optical communication system that includes a plurality of nodes interconnected by communication links, a node is provided that includes a first plurality of transponders each generating and/or receiving an information-bearing optical signal at a different channel wavelength from one another. An optical coupling arrangement, which may include one or more reconfigurable optical switches, transfers the channel wavelengths between a link connected to the node and the first plurality of transponders. The arrangement is adaptable to reconfigure its operational state to selectively direct different ones of the channel wavelengths from the link to different ones of the transponders without disturbing the optical path through the node traversed by any other channel wavelengths. A communications and configuration arrangement is provided, which transfers data identifying the respective channel wavelengths at which the transponders operate from the transponders to the optical coupling arrangement. In response to the transferred data, the communications and configuration arrangement reconfigures the operational state of the optical coupling arrangement.04-22-2010
