20120015398Method for the Detection of Acid Production By Cariogenic Bacteria - The present invention relates to a method for the semi-quantitative determination of cariogenic bacteria in a sample of saliva and/or plaque, in which the microorganisms contained in a sample of plaque or saliva are brought into contact with a carbon source that is fermented to acid by the cariogenic bacteria. The microorganisms are then incubated under conditions which make possible selective acid formation by the cariogenic bacteria. The acid formation is then detected by determining the pH at least once within a period of 12 hours after adding the carbon source, wherein the cariogenic bacteria are determined semi-quantitatively in the sample by comparison of the pH with at least one reference value. In addition, the invention provides kits for carrying out such methods.01-19-2012

20090205340METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ACHIEVING POWER AUGMENTATION IN GAS TURBINES USING WET COMPRESSION - A gas turbine unit as well as a method for operating a gas turbine with high-pressure turbine and a low-pressure turbine unit are disclosed. A very quick and at the same time easily controllable augmentation or reduction of the shaft power of the gas turbine unit can be achieved by providing at least one liquid droplet injection device on the upstream side of said compressor for injecting liquid into the stream of intake air in order to increase the shaft power generated by the gas turbine unit. The amount of water mass flow corresponding to the desired increase or decrease of shaft power output of the gas turbine unit is added or reduced in the form of liquid droplets in a substantially stepless manner and immediately within a time interval that is determined by the design characteristics of the liquid droplet injection device.08-20-2009

20090255341WELD VERIFICATION SYSTEM AND METHOD - An inspection method and system that locates a probe proximate a region of a shaft that is welded to a slug that secures the shaft to a housing. An acoustical wavefront may be emitted from the probe into the shaft toward the slug, and a reflection of the acoustical wavefront may be received with the probe. Whether the reflection occurred at an interface between the shaft and the slug or at a distal end of the slug is determined based on a time that the reflection is received by the probe.10-15-2009

20080309459Method Of Manufacturing A Fingerprint Sensor And Corresponding Sensor - The present disclosure relates to a fingerprint sensor device. The device comprises a sensor having a sensitive active region that is electrically connected to a substrate. The device further includes a first resin bump positioned proximate to the sensitive active region. The first resin bump forms a finger guide that positions the finger over the sensitive active region when the finger slides in contact with the first resin bump.12-18-2008

20100182703OPTICAL DEVICE WITH MEANS OF ACTUATING A COMPACT DEFORMABLE MEMBRANE - An optical device with a deformable membrane including an anchoring area on a support helping to contain a constant volume of liquid in contact with one of its faces, a substantially central area, configured to be deformed reversibly from a rest position, and an actuation mechanism displacing the liquid in the central area, stressing the membrane in parts situated between the central area and the anchoring area. The actuation mechanism includes plural thermal or piezoelectric actuators of micro-beam type, distributed at the periphery of the membrane, the micro-beams including at least one fixed part joined to the support and at least one moving part coming into contact, on an actuation, with the membrane in an area situated between the central area and the anchoring area.07-22-2010
20100195213OPTICAL DEVICE WITH MEMBRANE THAT CAN BE DEFORMED BY ELECTROSTATIC ACTUATION - An optical device with a deformable membrane including an anchoring area on a support helping to contain a constant volume of liquid in contact with one of its faces, a substantially central area, configured to be deformed reversibly from a rest position, and an actuation mechanism displacing the liquid in the central area stressing the membrane in at least one area situated strictly between the central area and the anchoring area. The actuation mechanism is electrostatic and includes at least one pair of opposing electrodes, one of the electrodes of the pair being at the level of the membrane, the other being at the level of the support, the electrodes being separated by dielectric, the dielectric being formed at least by the liquid.08-05-2010
20110032624MEMBRANE, ESPECIALLY FOR AN OPTICAL DEVICE HAVING A DEFORMABLE MEMBRANE - An optical device having a deformable membrane comprising a flexible film having at least one peripheral anchoring zone, a central zone and an intermediate zone between the central zone and the anchoring zone. The membrane also includes one or more movable parts of electrostatic actuating means, each movable part being formed from a leg terminating on one side in a foot mechanically fastened to a film-fastening region located in the intermediate zone and terminating on the other side in a free end. The legs incorporate a movable electrode, the free end having to be attracted by a fixed electrode of the actuating means. The free end is placed facing the free end so as to deform at least the central zone of the membrane.02-10-2011
