BACnet Protocol MS/TP Automatic MAC Addressing - A Building Automation System (BAS) includes at least one Direct Digital Control (DDC) controller operating as a BACnet MS/TP master considered to be an “Anchor”. The Anchor operates an algorithm or method which automatically assigns BACnet Protocol MS/TP Media Access Control (MAC) addresses to other BAS components (considered Nomads) being installed into the network. The Anchor gathers MAC addresses existing on the MS/TP network, and issues an available MAC Pool Announcement. Each Nomad randomly picks a temporary MAC address. When the Anchor verifies singular communication at the temporary MAC address, the Anchor assigns a permanent MAC address to the Nomad, which can later be locked into flash memory. Using the preferred algorithm and method, Nomad devices are automatically assigned unused MAC addresses to join the MS/TP network in a non-conflicting, orderly way, with all communications occurring within the confines of BACnet MS/TP Protocol. | 10-29-2009

Processing a Received Message - Processing a received message includes receiving a message that includes within the message a plurality of values and a plurality of context values. Each of the values is associated with a respective data element. The method includes identifying a first context value and those first data elements that are relevant to the first context value. The method includes selecting first rules that are specific for the first context value and applying the first rules to the values associated with the first data elements. The process includes identifying a second context value and those second data elements that are relevant to the second context value and omitting first data elements that are relevant to the second context value. The method includes selecting second rules that are specific to the second context value and applying the second rules to values associated with the second data elements. | 03-15-2012

Method and Apparatus for Detection of the Occupied or Free State of a Track Section - A method and a device for detecting the occupied or free status of a section of track by way of a track current circuit, into which a transmitted signal is introduced and from which at least one detection signal is extracted. A longer maximum possible track length is achieved in that the track current circuit is divided into part sections overlapping over half the length thereof. The transmitted signal is introduced in the middle of each part section into which a rail vehicle enters, detection signals being extracted at both ends of the part section or further transmitted over adjacent part sections to the track circuit ends and extracted there. Each part section is provided in the center and the ends thereof with transceiver devices. The central transceiver device functions as a transmitter and the end transceiver devices function as receivers. | 08-06-2009

DEVICE FOR DETECTING THE OCCUPIED STATE AND THE FREE STATE OF A TRACK SECTION AS WELL AS METHOD FOR OPERATING SUCH A DEVICE - An apparatus for the detection of an occupied or free state of a track section, which is particularly simple and at the same time particularly resistant to interference influences, includes a transmitter for feeding a transmitted signal, encoded by modulation, into rails of the track section and at least one receiver for receiving a received signal which is brought about by transmission of the transmitted signal through the running rails of the track section. The apparatus compares the modulation of the received signal with the modulation of the transmitted signal. A method for operation of an apparatus for detection of the occupied and free state of a track section is also provided. | 12-22-2011
DEVICES FOR DETECTING THE OCCUPIED STATE OR THE FREE STATE OF A TRACK SECTION AND METHOD FOR OPERATING SUCH DEVICES - A device detects an occupied state or a free state of a track section and has a transmitter for feeding a transmission signal in the form of an alternating voltage into the running rails of the track section and at least one receiver for receiving a reception signal which is brought about by a transmission of the transmission signal via the running rails of the track section. In order to be able to detect faults in the device, in particular cable faults, particularly reliably and at the same time cost-effectively, the device accordingly is configured to determine a phase shift between the transmission signal and the reception signal. A method for operating such a device is further disclosed. | 12-29-2011
