Modified process for hydrocarbon recovery using in situ combustion - A modified method of in situ recovery of hydrocarbon from an underground hydrocarbon-containing formation. An āLā shaped production well, having a vertical upper section, and a lower horizontally-extending leg which is positioned low in the hydrocarbon formation, is provided. The horizontal leg connects to the vertical section of the production well at a heel portion and has a toe portion at an opposite end thereof. An oxidizing gas is injected into the formation proximate the vertical section of the production well. A vertical combustion front is created which is caused to sweep outwardly therefrom and laterally within the formation above the horizontal leg, from the heel to the toe of the horizontal leg, causing hydrocarbons in the formation above the horizontal leg to be upgraded and liquify, and thereafter to drain downwardly into the horizontal leg which is permeable, where such liquified hydrocarbons are then delivered to surface via production tubing. A non-oxidizing gas is injected into the heel portion of the horizontal leg via injection tubing contained within the vertical section of the production well. Benefits of the modified method of in situ recovery include decreased costs and lessened environmental impact. | 08-13-2009

COMBUSTION BURNER - A combustion burner device that includes a rotor chamber with a rotary element rotatably mounted therein. The rotor chamber has a cylindrical sidewall with an inlet port in communication with a source of pressurized gas and an outlet port in communication with a combustion chamber. The rotary element has at least two interrupters forming cavities therebetween within the rotor chamber. The cavities are configured for receiving pressurized gas from the chamber's inlet port and transferring the pressurized gas to the chamber's outlet port. The rotation of the rotary element is in response to and by way of reaction to the issuance of gas under pressure through the inlet port. | 01-27-2011

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONDITIONING FOOD PRODUCT - A system and method for conditioning food product is disclosed. The method comprises providing a grill treatment to the food product; packaging the food product; and heating the packaged food product (e.g., partially or fully cooking the food product in its package). The system comprises an apparatus configured to apply a grill treatment to a food product that is being packaged and fully cooked in its package. The system may also comprise a co-extruder configured to extrude the a material layer and a collagen gel layer about the exterior surface of the base layer that is then at least partially coagulated before receiving the grill treatments. | 07-14-2011

CORRECTING FRAME-TO-FRAME IMAGE CHANGES DUE TO MOTION FOR THREE DIMENSIONAL (3-D) PERSISTENT OBSERVATIONS - An imaging platform minimizes inter-frame image changes when there is relative motion of the imaging platform with respect to the scene being imaged, where the imaging platform may be particularly susceptible to image change, especially when it is configured with a wide field of view or high angular rate of movement. In one embodiment, a system is configured to capture images and comprises: a movable imaging platform having a sensor that is configured to capture images of a scene, each image comprising a plurality of pixels; and an image processor configured to: digitally transform captured images with respect to a common field of view (FOV) such that the transformed images appear to be taken by a non-moving imaging platform, wherein the pixel size and orientation of pixels of each transformed image are the same. A method for measuring and displaying 3-D features is also described. | 04-26-2012

GOLF BALL CARRIER WITH GOLF BALL RELEASE TAB - A ball carrier having a hollow tubular support member for holding a plurality of balls stacked axially therein and a ball release tab configured to release one ball at a time from an open end of the hollow tubular support member. The ball release tab may have a first stopper portion, a second stopper portion, and a manipulation portion. The ball release tab may be biased in a first position in which the first stopper portion impedes exit of the balls and may be actuated via the manipulation portion to a second position in which the first portion is rotated away from the balls and the second stopper portion impedes exit of the balls. When the ball release tab moves from the second position to the first position, the second stopper portion rotates away from the balls, allowing the ball resting on the second stopper portion to drop out of the ball carrier, while the first stopper portion rotates back toward the balls, impeding the next ball from dropping out of the ball carrier. | 02-02-2012

ANTI-FREEZING/DEICING AGENT AND RELATED METHODS - A composition for deicing or inhibiting formation of ice includes waste material from a fermentation process for producing an amino acid from a carbohydrate source, and at least some second anti-freezing and deicing agent or a carrier. The active agent is waste material from a fermentation process for producing an amino acid from a carbohydrate source. The carrier may be water. A method for deicing an icy surface includes applying to that surface an effective amount of waste material from a fermentation process for producing an amino acid from a carbohydrate source. | 02-25-2010
