20120170028 | Beam deflection sensor - An aluminum disc containing three lasers which will be projected along the ‘X’, ‘Y’, and ‘Z’ axes of a structural beam to which the device is attached. It will then relay this information to a computer which will calculate deflection in the beam. The computer will compare the deflection in the beam with the programmed maximum safe amount of deflection. Due to its construction and simplicity the device can be used quickly by a person not trained in the field. A simple suction cup on the front surface of the disc allows it to be easily attached to the beam simply by pressing it against a flat surface area of said beam. The invention is intended for use as an early warning device to prevent unexpected creep failure of structures, but has potential application as a measuring device in the Materials Testing industry. | 07-05-2012 |

20100327759 | ELECTRONIC BALLAST FOR A FLUORESCENT LAMP - An electronic ballast for supplying a lamp load is described. The electronic ballast comprises an inverter arranged in a half-bridge configuration for providing an AC voltage and at least one lamp load circuit. The inverter comprises an upper switch, connected to a DC terminal for receiving a DC supply voltage, and a first lower switch arranged in a half-bridge configuration for generating an AC voltage at an inverter terminal of the inverter. A first diode and a second lower switch are connected in series. This series arrangement is connected in parallel with the first lower switch. A lamp load circuit for supplying the lamp load is connected to a node between the first diode and the second lower switch. When the inverter supplies a fluorescent lamp, and the lamp load circuit comprises a heating circuit for heating an electrode of the fluorescent lamp, the heating circuit includes a heating transformer and a second lower switch connected in parallel with the primary winding of the transformer. By doing so, the heating circuit can be operated and controlled independent of the current supplied to the fluorescent lamp, or operating conditions of the fluorescent lamp. | 12-30-2010 |

20090067185 | Lamp Assembly for Motorcycle - A lamp assembly for a vehicle including a passing lamp and a turn signal. A passing lamp is mounted within one portion of a housing of the lamp assembly, and a turn signal is mounted within another portion of the housing. A controller turns the passing lamp OFF when the turn signal is turned ON. The turn signal comprises a plurality of LED lamps that may be operated at a relatively high brightness to operate as a turn signal, and at a relatively low brightness to operate as running lamps. A male spline in the lamp assembly received with a female spline of a lamp mount allows adjustment of a horizontal alignment of the lamp assembly. | 03-12-2009 |
