20080246583Access Control System - A method of switching a door latch in a secure area, a relay module, and an access control system are disclosed. Encrypted communications from a reader in an unsecured area are decrypted, and the decrypted communications are compared to an expected code. A micro-controller may implement the decrypting and comparing steps. Power is switched to actuate the door latch if the comparison of the decrypted communications and the expected code indicates a correct match. A relay coupled to the micro-controller may implement the switching step. The relay module and the door latch may be a single module. The method may further comprise the step of receiving the encrypted communications from the reader. At least one buffer coupled to the micro-controller may implement the receiving step.10-09-2008
20080290161METHOD OF SECURE TRANSMISSION - A method, a system, and an apparatus for proving secure transmissions from a smartcard reader are described. A signal created by the smartcard reader dependent on the smartcard is encrypted. The signal comprises access information. The encrypted signal is transmitted to a remote location relative to the smartcard reader. The transmitted signal is translated at the remote location to another format useable by an access controller. An access mechanism is controlled using the access controller dependent upon the translated signal.11-27-2008

20090045260Retail Information Collection - An apparatus for collecting and transmitting a retail data comprising a barcode data of the products purchased over each transaction. The apparatus comprises a terminal device that has loaded onto it a retail information collection application that receives, stores, processes, and transmits the retail data. Financial data such as credit card numbers and personal identification numbers are removed from the retail data before it is encrypted and transmitted over a network to a retail database. Clients including but not limited to goods suppliers and goods manufacturers may view retail data, including sales history and sales performance, on one or more products.02-19-2009
20090048917Customer Loyalty Program - A loyalty program is enabled by a data collection set-up. The data collection set-up collects and transmits both the loyalty data and the product barcode data to a server. The server links the product barcode to a customer's purchase profile and issues messages where appropriate. The messages may comprise a redeemable voucher that bears a unique barcode, or an error message that informs the customer and the retailer that an invalid loyalty card or voucher has been scanned. The product barcode data may be cross checked with a marketing database so that the server may enable manufacturers or other goods suppliers to provide targeted advertising.02-19-2009
20090049109Distribution Fabric - A data distribution fabric enabled over a communications network. The fabric comprises several edge servers that engage in bidirectional communication with one another over the network. One of the edge servers has read/write access to a backup database and is a backup server. A data or a software application stored in the local hard disk or local cache of an edge server is accessible by all other edge servers within the fabric. A data that matches a report profile is added to the corresponding report, so that the data reporting is customizable and continuously updatable.02-19-2009

20090214408PREPARATION AND USE OF CATIONIC HALIDES, SEQUESTRATION OF CARBON DIOXIDE - A process is described for sequestering carbon dioxide. In the process, a carbonate, oxide or hydroxide of a divalent cation is reacted with the carbon dioxide and water and/or with a species resulting from the dissolution of the carbon dioxide in water, to form a hydrogen carbonate of the divalent cation. The carbonate, oxide or hydroxide of the divalent cation has a low solubility in water. The divalent cation of the hydrogen carbonate of the divalent cation thus formed is exchanged for a monovalent cation using an ion exchange medium, to produce a solution of a hydrogen carbonate of the monovalent cation.08-27-2009
