20100186062PROTECTING CONTENT FROM THIRD PARTY USING CLIENT-SIDE SECURITY PROTECTION - Architecture that employs encryption and storage of encryption keys to protect trusted client message content from an untrusted third-party hosted service. Each trusted user machine is configured to optionally apply security to messages. Rules determine when automatic protection is applied and the level of protection to apply. The trusted client automatically downloads the rules (or rules policies) from a trusted rules service and caches the rules locally. During composition, the rules analyze the message and automatically apply security template(s) to the message. The security template(s) encrypt the body of the message, but not the headers or subject. The untrusted message service processes the header and delivers the message to the correct recipient. The hosted service cannot view the contents of the message body, and only intended recipients of the protected message can view the message body. Offline protection is supported, and the user can override protection by the rules.07-22-2010

20090252163Grammar and Ontology for Multicast Communication - A formal language for specifying and implementing multicast communication, named MSIL, comprises a set of constructs that are specific to multicast communication. The language provides semantic structures for repetitive, conditional, sequential, and parallel execution. It supports message passing, is extendible and domain independent. The language is flexible enough to be used for translating high-level multicasting requirements into abstractions, as well as implementing low-level systems supporting these requirements. MSIL can also be used as a command and communication language to control node behavior for multicast communication. The requirements, syntax and semantics of MSIL, together with the ontology for multicast communication are described. A selected set of high-level requirements, for multicast network management, is analyzed to determine the corresponding MSIL specifications. A simplified QoS Manager, capable of providing multicast QoS to a restricted wireless network, has been coded in MSIL to demonstrate its suitability for system development.10-08-2009

20110225564Cross-Module Inlining Candidate Identification - Routines which are likely to be good candidates for cross-module inlining are automatically identified according to criteria based on service history, compiler inlining criteria, and/or execution performance criteria. Candidates can also be automatically identified by pattern matching codes of routines which satisfy service history, execution performance, and/or compiler criteria. Automatically identified candidate routines are presented in an inlining advisory tool, allowing developers to approve/veto automatically identified candidates, to add other routines, and to either suggest or require that the development tools perform cross-module inlining with particular routines. Changes to a candidate routine can trigger regeneration of native image(s) into which the routine has been compiled.09-15-2011
20110307858PRE-COMPILING HOSTED MANAGED CODE - A hosted pre-compilation system is described herein that provides a way to enable ahead-of-time compilation for managed code running inside a host. The host can choose which modules to compile, when to compile them, and where to persist the generated images. Upon detecting a module load, the host can trigger pre-compilation, provide the loader an existing pre-compiled image of the module, or do nothing. The runtime/platform validates the integrity of any host-supplied pre-compiled image and provides application programming interfaces (APIs) to inform the host when an image becomes invalid and fails to load. The platform also provides APIs to let the host trigger compilation of binaries at any time relevant to the host, and to generate the images either synchronously or in a background process.12-15-2011
