PREDICTIVE WAKEUP FOR PUSH-TO-TALK-OVER-CELLULAR (POC) CALL SETUP OPTIMIZATIONS - A predictive wakeup function for Push-to-Talk-over Cellular (PoC) call setup optimizations in a cellular mobile phone network. In performing the predictive wakeup for call setup optimizations, an originating mobile transmits an event trigger to a real-time exchange that interfaces to a mobile switching center in the cellular mobile phone network. The real-time exchange transmits a wakeup message to one or more terminating mobiles of predicted participants, in order to transition the terminating mobiles of the predicted participants from a dormant state to an active state prior to a call being setup with the terminating mobiles of the predicted participants. The terminating mobiles of the predicted participants are identified by a predictive wakeup mechanism before the originating mobile sends a list of one or more terminating mobiles of actual participants to the real-time exchange. The predicted participants may be determined based on static or dynamic information, including heuristics involving calling patterns. | 12-01-2011

INCREMENTALLY SYCHRONIZING OCCASIONALLY-CONNECTED MOBILE DATABASES, PRESERVING HORIZONTAL FILTER SCOPE CONSISTENCY BY USING CLIENT PRE-IMAGE - A system for synchronizing data on a first device with data at a second device, includes: determining a pre-image of the data on the first device according to a filter after a previous synchronization with the data at the second device; determining a current image of the data at the second device according to the filter; determining a delta of the current image, where the delta comprises data that exists in the current image and has changed since the previous synchronization; instructing the first device to delete data that exists in the pre-image but not in the current image; and instructing the first device to UPSERT a union of the data that exists in the delta and the data that exists in the current image but not the pre-image. This is efficient in time and bandwidth resources while also providing consistent data integrity. | 09-18-2008
REDUNDANT VERSION INFORMATION IN HISTORY TABLE THAT ENABLES EFFICIENT SNAPSHOT QUERYING - A system for efficient snapshot querying include: providing a first version value for each data in a history table, where the first version value indicates a beginning of a period in which the data is valid; providing at least a second version value for each data in the history table, where the second version value indicates an end of the period in which the data is valid; receiving a request for a version of a database; and retrieving the data with the first version value less than or equal to the requested version and the second version value greater than or equal to the requested version. By maintaining a history table with redundant version information, the system is able to provide efficient snapshot querying while also avoiding the overhead burden of conventional approaches. No aggregates, joins, or sub-queries are required to retrieve a snapshot. | 12-11-2008

Techniques to control self refresh display functionality - Techniques are described to monitor a level of graphics processing activity and control power usage based on the level. When no graphics processing activity is detected for a period of time, then a timing controller for a display device is instructed to capture a current image and repeatedly display the captured image. The graphics processing devices can be powered down. When graphics processing activity is detected, the graphics processing devices are powered up and the components used to capture an image and display the captured image are powered down. | 05-20-2010

Methods and compositions for studying, imaging, and treating pain - Saxitoxin analogue compounds, compositions, pharmaceutical compositions, methods of synthesis of saxitoxin analogues, methods of imaging, methods of treatment, including methods of treating pain, are provided. Saxitoxin (STX), gonyautoxin (GTX), and zetekitoxin, and variant STX compounds bind to sodium channels and are effective to reduce or block flow of sodium ions through such channels. Such channel block affects nerve and muscle action, and may be effective to reduce or block pain sensations, relax muscles, reduce muscle spasm, and reduce wrinkles. STX analogue binding to sodium channels may also be useful to locate, image, or mark sodium channels, and so be useful in studying sodium channels and sodium channel disorders, and in the diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering from sodium channel disorders. In embodiments, the variant STX compounds include conjugates having increased serum half-life as compared to STX when administered to a subject. | 11-11-2010
