Method and Apparatus for Neighbor List Updates - An apparatus and method for maintaining information during neighbor list updates comprising acquiring information of a first plurality of GSM neighbor cells; recording and keeping the information for a time period T; receiving a second plurality of GSM neighbor cells; comparing the second plurality of GSM neighbor cells with the first plurality of GSM cells in the record; if a GSM neighbor cell from the second plurality of GSM neighbor cells is not in the record, gathering information pertaining to the GSM neighbor cell; and if at least one GSM neighbor cell from the second plurality of GSM neighbor cells is in the record, determining if the age of the information pertaining to the at least one GSM neighbor cell is less than the time period T and if less than T, locating the at least one GSM neighbor cell. | 05-28-2009
CELL TIMING ACQUISITION IN A W-CDMA HARD HANDOVER - Cell timing is detected by first trying to detect a target handover cell through detecting a primary synchronization channel (P-SCH) followed by a common pilot channel (CPICH). If that fails, N number of retrials is performed using a full-window search on the CPICH. The full-window CPICH search is performed blindly, without any slot timing information from the P-SCH. Performance is improved while maintaining the benefits of faster acquisition methods in good channel conditions. The full-window search is more time consuming, but takes advantage of the stronger CPICH transmission. In good channel conditions, a mobile device can proceed quickly with the normal method of timing acquisition. With failure, the mobile device can switch to the longer search which has a higher probability of successfully completing the hard handover procedure. The overall effect is a higher success rate of hard handovers without a uniform increase of time spent in cell timing acquisition. | 04-01-2010
OUT-OF-SYNCHRONIZATION HANDLING METHOD AND APPARATUS - A method for handling out-of-synchronization (SYNC) includes generating a plurality of combination sets of transport channels utilized by a communication device. The method also includes selecting, based on a window-based parameter, a highest-ranking combination set of transport channels out of the plurality of combination sets of transport channels. The highest-ranking combination set of transport channels excludes one or more out-of-SYNC transport channels. The method further comprises providing, to a window-based data processing unit, data packets from transport channels in the highest-ranking combination set of transport channels, without providing data packets from the one or more out-of-SYNC transport channels to the window-based data processing unit. Apparatus and machine-readable media for out-of-SYNC avoidance and/or detection are also provided. | 04-01-2010
Device, Method, and Apparatus for Offline Discontinuous Reception (DRX) Processing With Online Triggers in Cellular Systems - An apparatus and method for processing signals are disclosed. The apparatus may include a transceiver configured to receive a first paging signal during a first cycle, a memory, and a processor configured to store the received first paging signal in the memory, to switch the transceiver to an off state after the first paging signal is stored in the memory, to process the stored first paging signal while the transceiver is in the off state, and to determine whether to enter an online mode based on the processing. | 12-30-2010
Device, Method, and Apparatus for Offline Discontinuous Reception (DRX) Processing in Cellular Systems - An apparatus and method for processing signals are disclosed. The apparatus may include a transceiver configured to receive a first paging signal during a first cycle, a memory, and a processor configured to store the received first paging signal in the memory, to switch the transceiver to an off state after the first paging signal is stored in the memory, and to process the stored first paging signal while the transceiver is in the off state. | 12-30-2010
SYSTEM, METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR EARLY TERMINATION BASED ON TRANSPORT BLOCK FAIL FOR ACKNOWLEDGMENT BUNDLING IN TIME DIVISION DUPLEX - Methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture are disclosed that provide for early termination based on transport block fail for acknowledgement bundling in time division duplex. In one embodiment, a method for operating a communication device is provided. In this embodiment, the communication device decodes a downlink subframe that is part of a bundle of subframes. If it detects a CRC failure in the subframe, it inhibits decoding of at least one other subframe in the bundle if present and reports the failure to the sending node. This Abstract is provided for the sole purpose of complying with the Abstract requirement rules that allow a reader to quickly ascertain the disclosed subject matter. Therefore, it is to be understood that it should not be used to interpret or limit the scope or the meaning of the claims. | 06-23-2011
