20100202926LATERAL FLOW DIAGNOSTIC DEVICES WITH INSTRUMENT CONTROLLED FLUIDICS - Devices with lateral flow elements and integral fluidics are disclosed. The integral fluidics consist of injector pumps comprised of fluidic elements under instrument control. The fluidic element of an injector pump is fluidically connected to lateral flow elements and can be used to control fluid entry into containment chambers referred to as micro-reactors. The lateral flow elements comprise conductor elements that can be used for sample application and transport of analyte contained in the sample to the micro-reactor. Fluidic transport through the fluidic element of the injector pump is under instrument-control. Both the lateral flow element and the fluidic element may contain chemical entities incorporated along their length. The chemical reactions that can be used for analyte detection using the devices are described. Also described are methods of manufacture of these devices.08-12-2010

20090162947AERODYNAMIC SHAPES FOR WAFER STRUCTURES TO REDUCE DAMAGE CAUSED BY CLEANING PROCESSES - Wafer structures and associated methods of fabrication are described. The wafer structures are fabricated to have aerodynamic shapes. Even if the structures on the wafer are fragile, the aerodynamic shapes of the structures create less resistance to a fluid flow of a cleaning process, and are less likely to be damaged by the cleaning process. Also, the aerodynamic shape of the structures allows a fluid flow to be directed toward the wafer from a single angle to effectively clean the wafer.06-25-2009
20100165496SYSTEM, METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SECTOR GRADING OF DEFECTIVE BIT PATTERNED MAGNETIC MEDIA IN HARD DISK DRIVES - A system for grading defective bit patterned magnetic media by disk sector in hard disk drives recovers a portion of any defective sectors at a lower areal density. The invention reduces the track pitch density for sectors containing amalgamated islands while leaving the remainder of the defect-free sectors in the zone optimized for linear bit density. This recovers a portion of the defective sector, approximately in proportion to the ratio of amalgamated islands over the original number of islands. A typical zone is first optimized for tracks per inch during formatting of the patterned media disk drive. The zone is then broken up into sectors that can each be optimized separately for linear bit density to ensure the maximum sustainable capacity for each sector.07-01-2010

20110219154ABSTRACT PROTOCOL INDEPENDENT DATA BUS - An abstraction layer (e.g., transport) between consumer logic (e.g., presentation) and provider logic (e.g., business) that makes composition of, for example, many presentation technologies to many business logic data providers possible without imposing strict interface boundaries to each. The abstraction layer can be an abstract transport data model bus that provides serialization, transformation, and transport services. A core concept of the data access library implementation is a transmittable data object based on a flexible property bag data structure and abstract type system. Pluggable data providers declare the associated data model, and pluggable consumer clients declare the data model consumed (a many-to-many implementation). In other words, declarative (codeless) combinations of front ends and back ends are employed. Moreover, the abstraction layer is hidden from the developer.09-08-2011

20110136593BATTING TEE SYSTEM FOR BAT-AND-BALL GAMES - A batting tee system includes a batting tee assembly that may be used with conventional balls or with the ball described as an embodiment of the present invention. Optionally, the batting tee assembly may be used with a netting system or target that provides feedback to a batter based on a trajectory of the ball after it has been struck by a bat and leaves the batting tee assembly. In one embodiment, the batting tee assembly includes a support base coupled to a swing arm, which in turn is coupled to an adjustable-height batting tee. A flexible cup may be coupled to the batting tee to eliminate or substantially reduce the bounce back or recoil felt by a batter when hitting off a batting tee. The batting tee system may be configured for both left and right handed batters and also placed in a portable or storable configuration.06-09-2011
